Def Leppard are set to perform at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip as part of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on August 10th, and their set will be immediately preceded by a double-daredevil stunt involving a bike jump over a high-wire act.
The event is being billed as “The Death Wire Daredevil Spectacular” and will see motorcycle Wall of Death daredevil Kyle Ives jump a motorcycle over Blake the Flying Wallenda, who will attempt one of the longest high-wire walks of his career — “The Death Wire Walk” — over the Sturgis Buffalo Chip amphitheater with no safety netting. If anyone’s capable of such a feat, it’s these two: Blake and Kyle are the descendants of extreme sports godfathers The Flying Wallenda Brothers and the Ives Brothers, respectively.

Robbie Knievel, son of superstar ’70s motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel and an accomplished showman in his own right, died in hospice care after a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to multiple reports. He was 60.
Like his father, Kneivel was adroit at leveraging his abilities on a motorcycle into a media spectacle. Over the course of his career, he had eight live television specials centered around his feats.
He soared over the fountains at Caesars Palace 22 years after his father famously crashed in a similar attempt. In a pay-per-view jump-off with British motorcycle stuntman Eddie Kidd, the duo jumped for distance in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. In 1998, Knievel attempted a record-breaking jump of 231 feet over 30 limousines at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. His father was there to support him. In 1999, Knievel executed a building-to-building jump between two 13-story towers at the Jockey Club in Las Vegas. He made a jump...

New York -- Fox reality chief Mike Darnell said Friday that he's exiting the network after an 18-year stay, ending a reign that – depending on one's point of view – has made TV more exciting or more squalid. And great for Fox.
In a puckishly worded announcement, the 50-year-old Darnell said that the end of his current contract in June presented him with a decision: "either stay (and basically admit to myself I was going to retire at Fox ... not a terrible choice) or leave and try something new."
"I've been in `reality' since before it was even called that," added the exec who was once called "the world's scariest programmer." But now, "with hundreds of channels and limitless ways to watch television, I've decided this was the perfect time to take advantage of the rapidly changing marketplace."
Darnell, who was named the network's president of alternative entertainment in 2007, joined Fox in 1994 as director of specials.

Worst staring contest ever. If you’re watching the countdown to 2009 at home, your viewing options are pretty much the same as they are every year. The Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie, Will.I.Am and The Pussycat Dolls are scheduled to perform. Dick Clark is also credited as the host, but I really hope he limits his on-camera appearances to very few or none at all. I mean, come on, guy. You’re 79! It’s okay to retire. Over on NBC, Carson Daly smugs it up with T.I., Katy Perry, and Elton John scheduled to perform. Both shows start at 10 pm Et. Fox is doing New Year’s Eve Live hosted by Spike Feresten.
