Let’s all hope the circumstances in High Potential Season 1 Episode 6 were based purely on fiction and did not at all reflect our current technological state. I don’t need to see an eight-year-old vaping.
I don’t know how this series does it, but it continues to take each episode to greater heights than the previous one.
Every aspect of the story, from the episodic cases to the over-arching story, works together perfectly to create television perfection. High Potential is setting a new standard for procedurals.
(Mitch Hasseth/Disney)
Count me in if it means more fabulously dressed characters solving obscure and mind-boggling crimes.

I think it’s safe to say Morgan and Karadec are finally working as a unit on High Potential Season 1 Episode 6. The days of bickering and quitting on the spot are long gone.
If there is one thing this series is a pro at, it’s keeping the story moving and not letting anything get stale. Whether it’s the writing, the acting, or a combination of both, every episode is fresher than the last.
Now that we’re halfway through High Potential Season 1, fans can expect some shake-ups to keep the plot interesting.
(Carlos Lopez-Calleja, Mitch Hasseth/Disney)
From what I’ve gleaned from the synopses, disappointing news may be on the horizon for some audience members, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

It looks like a jungle in High Potential Season 1 Episode 5, and the animals aren’t the only lively characters in these parts. However, the best thing about the episode was learning Karadec’s first name.
I don’t know if I missed it or if it just hadn’t been said, but I did not peg him for an “Adam.” I genuinely thought his name would be something like Gavin or Christopher. Oh, well.
Regarding useful information, this episode of High Potential was rife with one random fact after another. It was as hard to keep track of as the case.
(Carlos Lopez-Calleja/Disney)
However, not all knowledge is good. I will never be able to forget what Morgan said about gym weights having fecal bacteria on them. I guess it’s time to invest in a home gym.

We should have expected a nostalgia-heavy season in honor of Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary. But nostalgia comes in many packages. Sometimes it’s a sweet remembrance of the good times we’ve shared. Sometimes it’s revisiting the past in desperate attempts to recreate old glories. Last night, SNL served up its own version of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, inviting poor Michael Keaton to once again repeat earlier successes with diminishing results.
The ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ of Monologues
Keaton kicked off his fourth hosting appearance by promoting his not-nearly-as-good-as-the-original Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He says his movie is “coming out now” even though it’s been in theaters since Labor Day. It’s all an excuse for Mikey Day and Andy Samberg (he got written out of the political cold open) to dress up like Beetlejuice and persuade Keaton to do their favorite character.

Michael Keaton is hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, presumably to promote his latest movie, while also ensuring that every Halloween party in America contains at least seven to nine dudes dressed like Beetlejuice.
Keaton’s first outing as host, back in 1982, didn’t go too well (producer Dick Ebersol enlisted Michael Palin to come be a backup host), but he was much more famous when he returned to host a decade later. I mean, he was literally Batman. And Keaton’s ‘92 monologue was all about how the former stand-up is such a big star now that he can, and will, throw out any audience member who rubs him the wrong way.

In 2015, Keaton hosted for a third time, not long after his career had been rejuvenated by the Oscar-winning Birdman or (the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Despite the fact that he had just starred in the most recent Oscar Best Picture,...

We have a lot to look forward to on the next episode of High Potential. Fun, exotic animals are coming our way, and what will surely be another big brother speech from Karadec.
Considering the next episode will have plenty of fun animals, we’ll get the full breadth and width of Morgan’s zoology knowledge. Teach us something new, Miss Morgan.
Viewers all around agree that High Potential boasts as much heart as it does brain. So, while we’re sure to learn something new, there’s a good chance crying will be involved.

The undeniable chemistry between Karadec and Morgan is one of the series’ shining highlights. However, like many of you, I have no interest in seeing those two get intimate.

Netflix has truly been the gift that keeps on giving in 2024. All throughout the year, the streaming service has continued to acquire so many past and recent favorite television series for our binge-watching pleasure, even beyond its own original series.
Whether it's This Is Us, The Resident, Fire Country, Interview with the Vampire, Sex and the City, Lost, or How I Met Your Mother, there were (and are) plenty of great shows to binge on Netflix. In a post-Suits renaissance world, what's old is new again and we're all eating it up.
But the streamer isn't finished yet with bringing popular and underrated series to its ranks. This fall, Gossip Girl returns to Netflix, and soon after The CW classic arrives in October, one of NBC's most underrated workplace comedies begins streaming on Netflix for the first time.

In the satire musical, Bobby Strong (Fisher) leads his community in a fight against oppression. Actress Kaitlin Olson is demonstrating her versatility through her leading performance in the ABC crime drama “High Potential.” Olson, best known for her long-running comedic role on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” stars as Morgan, a civilian consultant assisting the Los Angeles Police Department. In a recent episode of “High Potential,” Olson comfortably blended humor with profound dramatic moments.
The episode saw Morgan take on her first case, which involved an attempted murder, mistaken identity, theft, and an actual murder. While Olson utilizes her comedic skills to distinguish the show from typical crime dramas, critics have praised her nuanced dramatic acting.
In a pivotal scene, Morgan’s supervisor Captain Selena, played by Judy Reyes, offers Morgan hope about the long-unsolved disappearance of her husband 15 years ago. Olson subtly conveyed Morgan’s relief and renewed hope through complex emotions.
The show also efficiently addresses potential challenges for Morgan in her new career.

Fans have been waiting to see who will be hosting the first episodes of the upcoming 50th season of "Saturday Night Live," and today, the answers arrived. Typically, "SNL" only announces hosts for the next three shows in a given window, but I'm willing to bet that organizing scheduled for this milestone season is going to require a lot of advance planning to make it all work. As of today, we know who will be hosting the first five episodes of "SNL" season 50, including the season premiere later this month.
To begin with, fresh off winning an Emmy for her outstanding performance in the Max comedy series "Hacks," the amazing Jean Smart will be hosting the season premiere of "SNL" on September 28. Smart has had a long career in film and television, stretching from Fox's hit series "24" to Damien Chazelle's wild Hollywood romp "Babylon," but this is the...

Saturday Night Live isn’t always live from New York. Given the show’s popularity over five decades, it’s not surprising that other countries around the globe have adapted the franchise to fit their own cultural sensibilities.
But does every nation on earth have its version of Kenan Thompson? Here are five countries that do — or at least some reasonable facsimile.
1 SNL Korea Play
This one’s been around, off and on, since 2011, but it wasn’t easy to get started. “To get people to appear in this show, I had to beg,” head writer Jang Jin told Mwave. “I even asked them to appear on the show by giving them my next movie script.”
SNL Korea lasted for eight seasons through 2016, but a revival was announced in 2021. Like America’s SNL, it has its own Weekend Update and its own controversies, including accusations of sexual harassment by a boy band.

Kaitlin Olson isn’t a regular mom-turned-crime scene investigator — she’s a cool mom-turned-crime scene investigator.
ABC has released the official trailer for High Potential, a new dramedy in which Olson stars as Morgan, a single mother whose remarkable ability to spot specific details lands her a job helping the authorities crack tough cases. Or as her daughter puts it, Morgan is “a single mom with three kids pretending to be a cop.” Morgan prefers “consulting” over “pretending,” but we’ll let that slide for now.

The world let out a collective groan of disappointment when Ted Mosby showed up at Cobie Smulders’ Robin’s apartment in the finale of How I Met Your Mother. While the entire show led up to Ted finding the titular mother, the series finale did away with the mother quickly before making him return to Robin.
The makers also disappointed fans by chronicling Barney and Robin’s wedding for the entire ninth season before revealing in the final episode that they did not work out. However, Smulders reportedly had another pitch during the wedding sequence, which probably would have ended their marriage sooner.

Spoiler Alert: Details follow for Season 11, Episode 13 of “The Masked Singer,” “Finale: One Mask Takes It All,” which aired May 22 on Fox.
“The Masked Singer” winner Vanessa Hudgens admits she didn’t necessarily play the hiding game: At least among her friends and fans, they figured out it was her under the Goldfish costume rather quickly.
“Rita [Ora] guessed it was me straight from the jump,” Hudgens said. “But she’s also my friend. And we saw each other a few days before the first episode!”
Hudgens beat out Scott Porter, who had performed this season as Gumball, to win the “Masked Singer” trophy. Coincidentally, both Hudgens and Porter previously starred together in 2009’s “Bandslam.”
Despite their history, Hudgens said the production kept her completely in the dark as to who her competitors were. “I was so invested every step of the way,” she said. “I was trying really hard to...

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met for the third time during the 2023-2024 Broadway season on April 19, to discuss eligibility of 8 productions for the 77th Annual Tony Awards in 2024.
They discussed eight productions: “Days of Wine and Roses,” “Doubt,” “The Notebook,” “An Enemy of the People,” “Water for Elephants,” “The Who’s Tommy,” “The Outsiders” and “Lempicka.” The group also met during the winter to discuss late fall and winter openings, but those determinations were not made public until now. Those shows include: “I Need That,” “Harmony,” “Spamalot,” “How to Dance in Ohio,” “Appropriate” and “Prayer for the French Republic.”
The most notable ruling is that “Appropriate” will compete as a revival. The hit play from Branden Jacobs-Jenkins has never been seen on Broadway before this season, but previously enjoyed a successful Off-Broadway run with a different director and cast. Drake Bell is continuing to tell his story in the latest episode of ID’s “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” documentary. Titled “Breaking the Silence,” the fifth episode, which aired on Sunday, April 7, began with Bell speaking to host Soledad O’Brien about what has happened since he came forward for the first time about being sexually assaulted by Brian Peck.
O’Brien specifically asked Bell, who spoke virtually from Mexico City, about Will Friedle and Rider Strong, two of the actors who wrote character letters for Peck in the 2003 case. The duo spoke about the decision to do so on their podcast, but hearing their comments didn’t change how Bell felt about that day in court, he said.

The Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV directors plan to continue to investigate kids entertainment in Hollywood, even after dropping their latest bonus episode on Sunday with Quiet on Set: Breaking The Silence.
“We’re hearing calls for federal legislation,” series co-director Mary Robertson tells The Hollywood Reporter when talking about next steps. “At the moment there is no federal legislation that governs children who work in entertainment, or that regulates children working in entertainment.”
The bonus episode, hosted by Soledad O’Brien, delves deeper into the claims surrounding Dan Schneider and the Nickelodeon series he created and ran. The formerly prolific kids TV producer has faced allegations of abuse, sexism, racism and inappropriate behavior involving underage stars and crewmembers on his shows since the release of the two-part docuseries on March 17 and 18. Lorne Michaels is an expert at celebrating the legacy of “Saturday Night Live.” The show’s creator has produced variety specials for the NBC program’s 15th anniversary, 25th anniversary and 40th anniversary, so the upcoming 50th season should have a highly entertaining spectacle. Nothing less than a three-hour event would be expected, but how else should “SNL” celebrate the golden anniversary season, which would begin in the autumn of 2024 and continue through May, 2025?
Here is our exciting, fun suggestion for a way to go above and beyond for the live special. Over the course of a 20-22 episode season, NBC would certainly have almost every episode featuring the current cast along with hot guest hosts and musical guests. However, for the other five episodes spread out over several months, devote an entire 90 minutes to each previous decade. Invite back the biggest cast members from a decade along with well-known guest hosts and music stars.

It’s a feat only 29 other SNL cast members have pulled off: With tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Live, Heidi Gardner has appeared in 500 sketches.
That’s according to longtime SNL statistician Mike Murray, who hosts The Saturday Night Network’s weekly SNL by the Numbers podcast. (Full disclosure: The Snn is LateNighter’s podcast partner.)
Tonight’s game show sketch “Couple Goals” was Gardner’s 500th sketch.
Gardner, who’s in her seventh SNL season, is only the 30th cast member to hit the 500 sketch milestone, an honor she shares with two other current cast members, Mikey Day and (of course) Kenan Thompson, whose 21 seasons on the show put him at the top of the list.

Drake Bell revealed on the ID docu-series Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV that he was sexually assaulted by former Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck.

Various actors and entertainment industry insiders wrote letters in support of Brian Peck, a voice coach and Nickelodeon actor who was convicted of child sexual abuse, as revealed in Investigation Discovery’s Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.
As explained in the docuseries that aired Sunday and Monday nights, Peck was arrested in August 2003 on 11 charges of child sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 16 months in prison in October 2004 and was registered as a sex offender. At the time, the identity of the child actor who was abused by Peck was unknown publicly, and the minor was referred to as John Doe in court documents. The majority of the records were sealed, with details hidden from the public. After nearly 20 years, the documents were unsealed for the documentary.

Last week, news broke that Bill Hader would voice the lead in Warner Bros. new fully animated movie The Cat in the Hat, based on Dr. Seuss’ 1957 classic children’s book. Today, the studio confirmed that the film will hit theaters in March 2026, with Hader joined by current SNL player Bowen Yang and longtime SNL writer Paula Pell, as well as Quinta Brunson, Matt Berry, and Xochitl Gomez.
Hader is a seasoned voice actor whose talent has won him roles in Sausage Party, Toy Story 4, and Bob’s Burgers, so it’s easy to see, or rather, hear, why WB would turn to Hader for its new Cat in the Hat movie — but in this case, Warner Bros. execs also had a visual aid, though it’s up for debate whether it helped Hader’s case or hurt it.
