Ashley McBryde has a little game she sometimes plays when she’s out at a bar and there’s music in the background.
“Let’s say [the Chicks’] ‘Goodbye Earl’ or something is on, and I’ll go, ‘Ok, who wrote it? I’ll buy you a beer,’” she says. “They’re like, ‘I don’t know.’ I’m like, ‘Dennis Linde!’”
Longtime fans of country music will recognize Linde’s name — the songwriter, who died in 2006, amassed an enviable run of popular hits in his career. In addition to the beloved Chicks’ song,...

Joe Diffie, a consistent country-music hitmaker throughout the Nineties, died Sunday due to complications related to Covid-19. His publicist confirmed the death to Rolling Stone. Diffie was 61.
With a traditional-leaning voice that drew comparisons to George Jones, Diffie populated his records with honky-tonk ballads and lighthearted novelty tunes, earning the Oklahoma native five Number One singles in the first half of the Nineties. These began with his debut release, the deeply moving “Home,” followed by “If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets),” “Third Rock From the Sun,” “Pickup Man,” and “Bigger Than the Beatles.

At the age of 61, country music artist Sammy Kershaw has just become a dad again. The birth of his baby daughter, Natelia Mae, makes it fifth time around for Kershaw (although the first time he’s shared parenting duties with longtime girlfriend Mendy Gregory). Judging by the gushing messages and cute baby snaps he’s been sharing on social media, Kershaw is clearly delighted to be on dad-duty once again, going so far as to call his new daughter a “gift from God ‘. Fans of his music, meanwhile, will be pleased to know that while Kershaw plans on taking a

California’s annual Stagecoach Festival has announced its 2019 lineup, with headliners Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt and Jason Aldean. The 13th annual fest in Indio, California, will take place April 26th through 28th at the Empire Polo Fields.
Stagecoach is one of the few country festivals whose bill consistently mixes mainstream, high-profile country stars with left-of-center roots and Americana artists, and this year’s lineup is no different. The 2019 festival includes commercial hitmakers like Kane Brown, Cole Swindell, Old Dominion and Luke Combs, alongside a variety of less traditional country festival acts,...

Our night in downtown Nashville begins in a bank-turned-tattoo-parlor-turned-Luke Bryan-themed restaurant with a pickup truck dangling over the stage where a band is covering Maren Morris’s “My Church.” The space has six levels, eight bars, numerous light-up “Luke Bryan” signs and more flat screens than a Best Buy. But we are on the roof drinking Coors Light and eating fried sushi.
“Same kitchen, different bars,” a hostess says, referring to Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar located next door, as if she has explained it a thousand times.

Next time maybe Sammy Kershaw oughta take the Feelin' Good Train. The country crooner walked away from a serious accident unscathed after his tour bus was hit by another car in Nocona, Texas Friday night, his rep confirmed. "It was just a car accident. No one got hurt," said his manager, Michael Henderson. The 54-year-old Kershaw tells E! News he was uninjured, though he admitted he and nine members of his band were traumatized by the incident, which occurred at 11:30 p.m. and caused a lot of damage to their bus.
