With over 43 seasons of Survivor, it’s difficult to choose which ones stand out the most. There have been numerous entertaining seasons full of impressive gameplay, dynamic casts, and shocking Tribal Councils that have left us with our jaws on the floor. But we’ve narrowed the list of all-time great seasons to five must-sees for any Survivor fan.
Jeff Probst | Photo: Robert Voets/CBS 5. ‘Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X’
Including Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X on our list of the top five Survivor seasons might be a controversial pick, but we wholeheartedly stand by it.
Adam Klein is one of the most underrated winners (aside from Vecepia Towery). After all, he is one of five castaways to win the show unanimously, and he played a smart (yet chaotic at times) strategic and social game. Plus, Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X introduced us to multiple memorable players, including Zeke Smith,...

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since CBS censors had to pixelate Richard Hatch‘s naked body on “Survivor: Borneo”? The popular castaway walked around in his “birthday suit” to celebrate his 39th bday on the ninth episode of that iconic first season, which aired July 26, 2000. Watch the “Survivor” flashback video above. It’s since become one of the most well-known and controversial moments throughout the reality TV show’s 40 seasons, particularly in the wake of the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment.
There were only eight castaways left in the merged Rattana tribe when Richard celebrated his birthday sans clothing: original Tagi members Richard, Kelly Wiglesworth, Rudy Boesch, Susan Hawk and Sean Kenniff and original Pagong members Jenna Lewis, Gervase Peterson and Colleen Haskell. Richard of course would eventually go on to win the show’s first-ever $1 million check (see the winners list).

May 31, 2020 marked the 20-year anniversary of when a little show called “Survivor” first premiered on television. To mark the occasion, Sonja Christopher, now age 83, is breaking her silence on what it meant to be the first person ever voted off of CBS’s reality TV show. “Oh my God, what an experience!” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m so fortunate to have had it. And I’ve learned lessons about how to treat it, regard it, live with it, and go with the flow.” Watch a video retrospective of Sonja’s “Survivor” journey below.
As it turns out, Sonja is still a fan of the show after two decades and has some choice words for the winner of Season 40, Tony Vlachos. “He was such a loose cannon, it seemed,” she declared. “And his hiding in the tree almost seemed laughable. But it turns out apparently it worked for him!” She...

[Editor’s Note: Our own Scott Drebit recently hosted panels at the sixth annual Calgary Horror Con. At the three-day event, Scott caught up with Adrienne King, who discussed playing the first final girl in the Friday the 13th franchise, her interest in painting, returning to acting, and teaming up with Valley View to create Crystal Lake Wines.]
Hi Adrienne, thanks for sitting down with Daily Dead. I’d like to start off with Friday the 13th. It’s always been my belief that Halloween is unique and an anomaly, and that Friday the 13th really set the tone for the slashers that followed.
Adrienne King: I think so, too. In terms of women not being victims, or a woman being the killer, it hadn’t really been done before. And sometimes I think about if it was accidentally empowering women, or if they just wanted to do something that had a twist. And who would have ever guessed that the killer could have been a woman? A sweet lady, too, Betsy Palmer. No one saw that coming.
My generation really didn’t know Betsy Palmer. But when my parents saw her on the screen, they were like, “Oh my god! Betsy Palmer is the killer!” They...

In HitFix's new feature "Waxing Episodic," we reflect on an episode of television we'll never forget. On May 31, 2000, I watched the premiere of "Survivor." I was edgy. At that point, the "Survivor" audience was just me and 15.5 million of my fellow early adapters. The next week, the "Survivor" audience went to 18 million and then to 23.25 million. Before "Empire" made our minds boggle at the mere idea of a show actually gaining viewers each week, there was "Survivor," which started with a 6.1 rating among adults 18-49 and was at a 12.7 rating by its penultimate installment. [I actually missed that first finale, which averaged nearly 52 million viewers, because I was in the process of moving to Los Angeles. Nobody tell me who won!] Last week's 15th anniversary marked a good time to dust off my "Survivor" (or "Survivor: Borneo" or "Survivor: Pulau Tiga") DVDs and our frequent -- when we happen to have the time -- "Waxing Episodic" feature was a perfect time to reflect on how the game has changed and how it remains the same. I contemplated...

While Modern Family continues to debate an offer from Australia, TV Guide reports that the comedy is very likely to make the next family vacation a trip to Las Vegas. Meanwhile, we’ll have to wait until May to see Mitch and Cam‘s wedding, which is slated to be a series event along the lines of Gloria giving birth.
The CW announced their midseason schedule, which puts Beauty and the Beast on hiatus, moves The Tomorrow People to Monday nights and pairs Hart of Dixie with Whose Line Is It Anyway? on Friday nights. That doesn’t sound like a vote of confidence for either Beast or The Tomorrow People. At least the midseason shows replacing them — the post-apocalyptic The 100 and the District 9-meets-Romeo & Juliet Star Crossed — are starting out with some pretty bad buzz.
The CW’s Star-Crossed with former 90210 hunk Matt Lanter.

Charlie Sheen has found a fresh sparring — and sexual? — partner.
Anger Management has tapped actress/singer Laura Bell Bundy (Hart of Dixie) as a new Season 2 series regular, filling the void left by departing co-star Selma Blair, FX announced Monday.

Bundy will play Charlie’s latest sex study research partner, Dr. Jordan Denby. Despite being a brilliant psychologist, her recent divorce, fondness for alcohol and wild mood swings turn the bachelor’s life into an emotional roller coaster.

The "Bachelor" commercials make it look as though Tierra completely loses her mind this week. So that's fun. But hilariously, the ABC intro says to start Valentine's week with a "Bachelor" that will stop our hearts. Somehow we don't think that will be the response.
St. Croix
Sean "Rule-Breaker" Lowe is at it again, flying to St. Croix with the women instead of traveling separately. Or the show's budget keeps getting squeezed and that little sea plane is the only way to get them all to the island. Next season, it'll be the Bachelor and six women on a raft with paddles. "Survivor," watch your back.
The hotel the women are at is gorgeous. I'm not really one for tropical vacations -- I'm one of those lame-os who'd rather be in rainy London going to theatrical productions and museums -- but that place looks amazing.

During Wednesday's Survivor recap show, we learned that NaOnka has a heart, that Kelly Purple has a voice, that Sash has a final-two deal with every lady in New York, and that Fabio has surpassed Boo as the most injury-prone Survivor ever. But because no strategy played out, there will be no Fishies. Instead, I'm going to present my five nominees for Fancast's upcoming Survivor Hall of Fame. I'm ambivalent about these Hall of Fame shenanigans. For one thing, an enormous amount of luck goes into Survivor. Sometimes an amazing player will simply be at the mercy of events [Guatemala's Brian Corridan comes to mind]. For another,...
