A video of a man spewing homophobic remarks and physically attacking a fellow traveler at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in Texas went viral after it was posted on YouTube on Oct. 23.
Video Of Dallas Airport Brawl
The incident clearly began sometime before Andrew Kennedy, the man who recorded and uploaded the video, began filming. The video starts with the aggressor approaching the man in the pink shirt and swatting at the phone in his hand, appearing upset and not wanting to be filmed. The two exchange words, and it seems as if the man in pink informs the aggressor that there are cameras and a crowd watching. The man is not phased by this, and proceeds to flip off the crowd.
A man in a cowboy hat intervenes, and asks the man why he’s so upset, and that’s when the man begins to lose it. “Queers is what I’m upset about!

Even in my youth, when Christmas came packaged with the anticipation of new toys, I preferred the Easter season. Why? Because I sang in a church choir, and the music of the Easter season is far, far greater. The gamut of emotions traversed along Holy Week alone offers so much grist for musical expressiveness: Palm Sunday (triumph, but tinged with foreshadowing), Maundy Thursday (dark lamentations), Good Friday (agony), and Easter (the ultimate triumph). And though the great masterpieces, Johann Sebastian Bach's two mighty Passion settings, were beyond the capacities of a simple church choir, I reveled in playing my vinyl versions over and over again. (Neither would be fashionable nowadays; the St. Matthew a Nonesuch recording led by Hans Swarowsky featuring the Vienna Boys Choir, though with an excellent set of soloists starring Heather Harper, and the St. John led by none other than Eugene Ormandy at the head of his Philadelphia Orchestra,...

The 49th annual Ann Arbor Film Festival is an epic celebration of experimental media that runs for six days on March 22-27. There’s so much great stuff screening this year, it makes one wonder what they’ll have left for their 50th anniversary next year!
A couple of the highlights include the highly anticipated feature-length documentary The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye by Marie Losier, which chronicles the pandrogynous love story between industrial music pioneer Genesis P-Orridge and his late wife. The film already made a big splash at the Berlinale earlier in the year and looks to be a major hit on the festival circuit this year.
Also not to be missed is a special retrospective of one of this year’s festival jury members, Vanessa Renwick, a longtime favorite on Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film. Renwick will screen 10 of her quirky and artistic documentary portraits,...
