Everything that I’ve seen from Netflix’s new limited series Maniac has been fascinating. The story, ideas, and concept behind it are intriguing and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story plays out for the main characters who are played by Emma Stone and Jonah Hill.
Today we’ve got a new promo spot for you to watch along with new clip. The promo spot is an infomercial for a treatment facility called Neberdine Pharmaceutical Biotech and they are looking to cure depression in people. It includes Justin Theroux, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rome Kanda as the doctors who are running this place.
As for the clip, it focuses on two of these doctors discussing why Jonah Hill and Emma Stone’s characters are always finding their way back to each other after they keep trying to separate them.

Netflix has released a brand new teaser for “Maniac,” a new psychological drama starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill from “True Detective” creator Cary Fukunaga. The teaser takes the form of an informercial for a depression treatment facility, and offers a fuller picture of Justin Theroux’s character, Dr. James K. Mantleray. From the official trailers, we know that Stone and Hill play two people undergoing an experimental treatment for mental illness, where they explore alternate universes, showing off a wide range of costumes.
Mantleray, along with Dr. Robert Muramoto (Rome Kanda) and Dr. Fujita (Sonoya Mizuno), strike an odd trio int his informercial for Neberdine Pharmaceutical Biotech. They promise to cure all sorts of mental ills in just three days with their newly discovered and very much not Fda-approved drug: The U.L.P.
“The human brain. As vast as the cosmos. And equally unexplored,” reads the slightly ominous introduction to the teaser.

"Weary eyes have witnessed their final blossom. All that is left are withered fields, everlasting the shadow of death..." This short film is pure horror bliss. Sword of the Dead is a short made by filmmaker Stephen Vitale, a B&W action horror about a samurai who arrives on the shores of Matsuoka Island in 1644. There he discovers an island overrun with zombies. Starring Masami Kosaka, with Rome Kanda. I don't think we've seen samurais and zombies mashed together (have we?), but this is so awesome. I love the crisp, clean B&W and the performances from the lead is excellent. I definitely want to see more, what an opening scene. Thanks to io9 for the tip on this. Original description from YouTube: "In feudal Japan a ronin returns home from exile to find the island he once knew plagued by a dark curse and overrun by the undead.
