It also looks like in a day or two, Dunki will match its overseas & domestic figures to make the scenario ‘perfectly balanced, as all things should be.’ Adding to Wednesday’s collection, the film has entered the 300 crore club at the worldwide box office.

It now stands at 305 crores (worldwide), with overseas earnings comprising 125.63 crores of that chunk. The Indian (nett) collections are 152.01 crores, which would take its gross figure to 179.37 crores.

Why, Hirani, why? What prompted him to make this godforsaken misfire? What has happened to the brilliant flair for farce and social comment he once displayed in Munnabhai Mbbs and its even superior sequel Lage Raho Munnabhai? Hirani’s last work Sanju , which was a cream-cracker version of a stubbornly adventurous life, was mired in mediocrity. But at least it wasn’t dull.

Dunki is dreadfully torpid. In terms of sense and sensibility , coherence and basic common sense, it is a better film than Shah Rukh Khan’s two other films Pathaan and Jawaan this year. But that’s no consolation for the absurd writing(Hirani, Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon) and endless giggle-moments that just don’t land.

Worst still, the “jokes” go on and on like a stand-up act which clearly has no punchline but goes on in the hope that rapid movement would compensate for abysmal humourlessness.

Taking to his Instagram, the actor unveiled the posters, the first of which depicted his character Hardy alongside Taapsee Pannu’s character Manu, Vicky Kaushal’s character Sukhi, Vikram Kocchar’s Guddu, and Anil Grover’s Balli.

Depicting the comical side of the film, the five characters are just walking ahead while smiling and laughing.

After shooting for Raj Kumar Hirani’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Dunki’, Boman Irani is going according to plan on his debut movie. “I have been working on my film for almost four-five months. I am directing the film and I have written and produced it as well. The work is going on. I will be able to finish the film by December,” Irani said.

Yet again, Shah Rukh Khan has proved what a big hearted person he is. King Khan, who is known for his philanthropic work, is back with his scholarship, which is in partnership with the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (Iffm) and La Trobe University. The registration for the scholarship started recently from August 18 and will go all the way till September 23.

The first ever scholarship was announced at the 2019 festival of which Shah Rukh Khan was the chief guest and visited the university to launch this program. Soon after, India’s Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi from Thrissur in Kerala was awarded the maiden scholarship.

Rajkumar Hirani’s long-awaited bio-pic on the controversial star is long on drama, short on facts. It cleverly makes Sanjay Dutt look like a victim of his own naivete. To his credit, Ranbir Kapoor plays Sanjay Dutt with such ardent goofiness and sincerely disingenuousness that I seriously began to wonder if the film’s opening joke—about a bogus biographer played by Piyush Mishraof (all people!) likening Dutt to Bapu—had come true by the end of the film.
