When Princess Sophie walked down the aisle to wed Prince Georg Friedrich Ferdinand of Prussia outside of Potsdam, Germany, last weekend, all eyes were on her. It was a task she pulled off seamlessly by wearing an elaborate tiered dress by top German designer Wolfgang Joop. The dress, which was created using 180 feet of fabric, was accessorized with a 100-year-old family veil, reported German newsweekly Bunte. According to Bunte, the princess also wore a coat made of transparent organza satin over her dress - complete with a 12 foot-long train. The color of the dress was called whispering white, a color meant to look antique.

German designer Wolfgang Joop's bid to have a punctuation mark trademarked for his Joop! clothing and perfume company has been denied by European Union judges.
Joop applied to register two versions of an exclamation point: the first is a simple exclamation and the other is inside a rectangular frame.
The Telegraph reports that The Court of First Instance in Luxembourg said that the public would see the symbols simply as an "eye-catching gimmick." The exclamation point lacked "distinctive character," which makes it ineligible as a trademark under EU law.
The symbol could still be trademarked if it became so associated with the company that the public would recognize its products from the symbol alone. However, this was not the case for Joop's Joop!

Designer Karl Lagerfeld, who famously remarked that supermodel Heidi Klum was unknown to him, has handpicked British singer Lily Allen to rep Chanel's handbags. During recent promos for the German version of "Top Model," designer Wolfgang Joop said Heidi Klum was too fat to be on the show: .No way,. Joop told Bild. .She is no runway model! Heidi Klum is simply too heavy and has too big a bust. And she always grins so stupidly. That is not avant-garde . that is commercial!. Along with Joop, model agency head Louisa von Minckwitz says Heidi is too wide in general. Her measurements are 91-69-94, which translated in inches would be 36-27-37. Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld said: .I don.t know...

Supermodel Heidi Klum has brushed off criticism of her weight by refusing to diet - insisting she already has the perfect figure for the catwalk.
The 35-year-old mum of three was verbally attacked by German designer Wolfgang Joop last month for being "too heavy" to model.
But Klum insists she has never been the type to starve herself - as looking after her children and pop star partner Seal is more than enough to keep her in shape.
She says, "I was never a diet sort of person. But when I started to model, I knew already that I would have to watch what I ate and for example, stop eating wiener schnitzel (Austrian dish of fried veal). My children are my best workout and I am of course also busy with my husband."...

Designer Michael Kors has spoken out in defence of pal Heidi Klum after a German stylist branded the model "too heavy" to model.
Bitter Wolfgang Joop called Klum fat in a recent Bild.com article, prompting the 35-year-old catwalk stunner to accuse her fellow countryman of trying to "revive his sagging career" last week (ends13Feb09).
And now Kors, who is a judge on Klum's TV fashion show Project Runway, is sticking up for the model.
He says, "Heidi has the body that, quite honestly, most women and most guys would definitely consider a 10-plus."
And Klum's Project Runway cohort Tim Gunn reveals Joop isn't the only German fashion foe taking aim at Klum - Karl Lagerfeld has also poked fun at the model's size.
He adds, "They (Lagerfeld and Joop) need to go to an ophthalmologist right away."...

Supermodel-turned-tv host Heidi Klum has slammed a German fashion designer who dubbed her "too heavy" to model.
The 35-year-old mum of three, who rose to fame modelling lingerie for Victoria's Secret, was criticised by designer Wolfgang Joop last week (begs09Feb09).
He told editors at German website Bild.com that Klum had become too fat to walk the catwalk.
But the German stunner, now an Emmy Award-nominated host of Project Runway and Germany's Next Top Model, insists her fashion career is moving forward.
A spokesperson for Klum tells the New York Post, "Wolfgang is obviously trying to revive his sagging career and get press for himself by riding Heidi's coattails."
And Klum's Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn has also rushed to her defence, blasting Joop's allegations as hurtful and absurd.
He tells the New York Daily News, "It's totally ridiculous! (Heidi) is a sensitive soul, and it's very troubling to her. If she's fat, other women should throw themselves off a train. I can wrap my hand around her bicep."...
