Dakota Fanning’s Marge Sherwood describes Tom Ripley as an untrustworthy liar who takes advantage of people in the official trailer for Netflix’s Ripley. The limited series stars All of Us Strangers‘ Andrew Scott in the titular role and is based on Patricia Highsmith’s popular Tom Ripley novels.
“Tom Ripley (Scott), a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder.”
In addition to Scott and Fanning, the series stars Johnny Flynn (Lovesick) as Dickie Greenleaf, Eliot Sumner (Pretty Red Dress), Maurizio Lombardi (Monterossi), Margherita Buy (Mia Madre), and two-time Oscar nominee John Malkovich. Oscar winner Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List) wrote, directed, and executive produced the limited series.

Team Experience has been looking at LGBTQ+ related Oscar nominations. Tonight we're serving lewks!

For a movie with iconic nude scenes, the costumes of The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) are just as memorable and titillating. It’s fitting that the Oscars honored the incredible work of costume designers Ann Roth and Gary Jones for the film, which should’ve shown up in more categories than the five it was nominated for. Though the actual Oscar went to Lindy Hemming’s period-specific and gloriously gaudy work in Topsy-Turvy, we’re still cheering on the sidelines for Ripley.
Let's count down the 10 queerest looks from the movie...

As a weekend of record-breaking heat approaches, Los Angeles County health officials made a final plea today for residents to celebrate the Labor Day holiday safely and without large parties or gatherings.

Through five Death Wish movies spanning 20 years, Charles Bronson delivered a unique brand of justice to violent criminals who crossed (and sometimes ended) the paths of his family and friends. Although the iconic actor passed away back in 2003, Bronson's memory lives on in the new film Death Kiss, starring Robert Kovacs as a man who could be Paul Kersey's doppelgänger. With Death Kiss coming out on digital and VOD platforms on October 2nd from Uncork'd Entertainment, we've been provided with an exclusive clip from the film to share with Daily Dead readers!

When a group of teenage friends go on a spring break camping trip, an unfortunate accident sets off a race against time to save their friend’s most prized possession.
The Package is your clear-cut rudimental gross-out comedy with a dash of unconvincing romance and little to no actual substantial merit nor filmmaking prowess. Although to say that one cannot find entertainment value in the sheer absurdity of events, would be lying through their teeth.
Even in the vile preposterous moments of childish, lowbrow humour. The film manages to pull itself up with grace from intelligible legitimacy. Far gone from the age of the direct-to-dvd American Pie circuit entertainment, that this venture ever so comes so close to falling into,...

"Oh no... I think I cut myself!" Netflix has released another official trailer for their comedy The Package, which is now available, the latest film from Funny or Die filmmaker Jake Szymanski (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates). The wacky, stupid comedy is about a group of teenage friends who go on a spring break camping trip, but an accident causes them to change their plans in hopes of saving their friend. Yeah, it's dumb and made for teenagers to get drunk and laugh at. The full cast for this includes Daniel Doheny, Geraldine Viswanathan, Sadie Calvano, Luke Spencer Roberts, Eduardo Franco, Michael Eklund, Gary Jones, Alexander Calvert, Sugar Lyn Beard, and Blake Anderson. This looks so, so bad and I don't even know why Netflix is pushing it with two full trailers, but here we go anyway. Have at it. Rob Riggle as Frank West? That was all that I needed to know to be sold on seeing Dead Rising: Watchtower. Never mind the fact its based on one of the best zombie games of the last console generation – though we all know Left4Dead was The multiplayer zombie game – with a tongue in cheek story that played on the tropes of the genre, especially those found in the films of George A. Romero (after all, the first game was set in a mall!)
Dead Rising: Watchtower follows Chase Carter (Metcalfe), a reporter trying to make it big – but the pursuit of his career-defining story leads him into the heart of a zombie-infested warzone.

I never really got into MacGyver, but I got my Richard Dean Anderson fix on Stargate Sg-1.
Stargate, as many of you I’m sure remember, was a 1994 movie which circled around a gigantic ring made of unknown metal and covered in what is believed to be Egyptian hieroglyphs that is discovered buried in the sands of Giza, Egypt in during an archeological expedition in 1928. The purpose of the ring remained a mystery for sixty years, its hieroglyphs untranslatable. Finally a brilliant linguist and archaeologist specializing in Egyptology named Daniel Jackson (James Spader) is co-opted by the U.S. government and brought to Cheyenne Mountain (home of Norad) to decipher the scrawlings on the ring, which has been brought there for study and possible use by the military.
He tells the assembled scientists and military officers (including United States Air Force Colonel Jack O’Neil (Kurt Russell) that the hieroglyphs...

Richard Dean Anderson may become a recurring castmember on Stargate Universe, according to Robert Carlyle. Earlier this year, co-creator Brad Wright confirmed that Anderson - best known as Jack O'Neill - will guest star on the latest Stargate spinoff alongside Gary Jones. However, Carlyle, who plays Dr Nicholas Rush on Universe, has hinted that Anderson may appear more often than was previously announced. Asked about the possibility of any of the original stars staying beyond their guest stints, Carlyle told Digital Spy: "I think that Rda might do - I think that he could come and go - and even Michael Shanks could come and go too, but the difficulty for them is that [the new team] are marooned in a spaceship on the far side of the universe." SyFy has announced the debut date of the eagerly anticipated next series in the Stargate franchise. Sgu: Stargate Universe will have its two-hour premiere on October 2 at 9 Pm, according to The Live Feed.
Sgu follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. On the other side the survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, the Destiny, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. Faced with meeting the most basic needs of food, water and air, the group must unlock the secrets of the ship's Stargate to survive.
The series, which is currently in production in Vancouver, is said to be "edgier and younger in tone" than its predecessors, Stargate Sg-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Early preview clips and images of the Destiny strongly indicate a darker tone.

The SciFi Channel already is saying its latest Stargate series, "Stargate: Universe," will be a complete departure from the past series in the franchise. Yet, it seems that there can never be too much of the familiar faces from the past. Richard Dean Anderson, who starred in "Stargate Sg-1" for most of that show's life, already is committed to making a guest appearance on "Universe" when it premieres this fall. But now he is getting some company. Amanda Tapping, who played Samantha Carter in both "Sg-1" and for a season on "Stargate: Atlantis," will stop by the new show, taking a moment to shed the brunette look she wears for "Sanctuary." She'll join an alumni guest roll that includes Michael Shanks, who played Daniel Jackson in "Sg-1," and Gary Jones, who played Walter Harriman, ...

Brad Wright, co-creator of Sci Fi Channel's upcoming "Stargate Universe," told Gateworld that "Stargate Sg-1" star Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O'Neill) will guest-star on the new show. "Rick is doing episodes of Universe," said Wright. "He was just here yesterday shooting an episode of 'Universe' with us. So that relationship is always ongoing, and it's good to have him back." The show's fifth episode, "Earth," is currently filming and is likely one in which Anderson will appear. Meanwhile, "Sg-1" cast member Gary Jones (Walter Harriman) told fans at a Stargate convention that he will also appear in the new series, including an episode that includes Anderson. He said that General O'Neill will have been promoted to three-star general for the episode they filmed together. "Stargate Universe" will premiere later this year and stars Robert Carlyle, Justin Louis, Brian J. Smith, Alaina Huffman, David Blue, Ming-Na and Lou Diamond Phillips.

The new Stargate: Universe series is adding another recurring guest star -- the silver haired hotness of Richard Dean Anderson. He is set to make several appearances on the new show, reprising his role as intrepid, unflappable and, well, awesome General Jack O'Neil.
Gateworld news reports:
“Rick is doing episodes of Universe,” series co-creator Brad Wright told GateWorld exclusively today. “He was just here yesterday shooting an episode of Universe with us. So that relationship is always on-going, and it’s good to have him back.”
The show’s fifth episode, “Earth,” is currently filming, and is likely one in which Anderson will appear. But will he help kick off the show by also appearing in the first episode, as he and Michael Shanks (“Daniel Jackson”) did with Atlantis?
Later the same day (today), former Stargate Sg-1 co-star Gary Jones (“Walter Harriman”) appeared on stage at Creation Entertainment’s official Stargate convention in Vancouver,...
