The upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is set to shake up the MCU after a couple of slumps in the past one or two years. Fans have been dreaming about this live-action team-up for years ever since their brief interactions in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Bigfoot’s relationship with the horror genre is a strange one.
On its own, the idea of a towering woodland ape is pretty pants-shittingly scary, especially if you happen to be contemplating the legendary cryptid while in the middle of a deep dark forest. However, for some strange reason, that terror too often gets lost when it’s seen through the lens of a movie camera. Maybe it’s the aftermath of films like Harry and the Hendersons essentially turning the beast into an upright and trunkless Mr. Snuffleupagus. Or perhaps it has something to do with the fact that it’s just too easy to make inappropriate jokes centered around its, ahem, big feet. Whatever the reason, the vast majority of cinematic representations of Sasquatch seen in horror just don’t hit the way other monsters do.
Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. One of them is...

A young couple find themselves face to face with a terrifying evil when they venture into the heart of Bigfoot country in Willow Creek, director Bobcat Goldthwait’s unique spin on the horror genre.
“Looking to make a splash with his research videos into the existence of Bigfoot, Jim (Bryce Johnson) and his skeptical girlfriend Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) take a camping trip to the mountains surrounding Willow Creek, California, a small town where famous footage of the legendary Sasquatch was filmed decades earlier. Jim believes Bigfoot exists and is intent on finding the very spot where the huge, hairy, man-like creature supposedly strode.
But before long, Jim and Kelly are lost in the woods and discover that someone – or something – is stalking them. With each passing night bringing unknowable danger, the two must...

Whether you are heading out on a road trip, flying to your destinations, or just taking some time off, the holiday lull is a great opportunity to nerd out with podcasts.
And for spooky nerds — those who prefer to tune in to topics of the strange and unusual, and get weird with lore and scary stories — there is an abundance of paranormal-themed shows out there. The entire Aaron Mahnke universe, including the hit Lore, routinely delivers. Other well-known shows that consistently chart strong, such as Jim Harold’s The Paranormal Podcast, The Last Podcast on the Left, Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know, Radio Rental, and Monsters Among Us, are all worth listening to.
But might we suggest a few more that should be on your radar? Below is a list of some of our favorite paranormal podcasts to listen to this winter. These are shows we love...

A timid actress, a tortured painter, a pretentious writer, a psychotic sculptor and a rock band all become entangled when their insecurities manifest themselves into monsters and ghouls.
Have you ever seen a movie that bored you to tears so much so that you wished you could send a bill to the writer and director for wasting so much of your hard-earned, precious free time? Well, that’s happened to me many times throughout the course of my life, and this year has seen plenty of those films as well. But to be honest with you, it seemed as if those extremely boring and awful movies were finally coming to an end.
And then, I saw Allegoria.

On March 20, the Expedition Bigfoot team kicked off its third season on Travel Channel and discovery+ with a two-hour premiere that included a “pre-show” featuring an interview with famed primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall. Then the team — primatologist Dr. Mireya Mayor, host Bryce Johnson, survivalist Russell Acord, and author Ronny Le Blanc — returned to Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula after destructive wildfires last year forced them to abandon their investigation.
Utilizing a combination of equipment and overnight explorations, the team approaches their search for Sasquatch with an open-minded skepticism. For the premiere, they implement an agriculture drone to spray primate pheromones in hopes of drawing out the creature they seek. Additionally, LeBlanc and Mayor appear to notice a figure peering down at them from a ridge while they’re on the river, and Acord’s shelter is accosted by something outside while hunkered down for the night.

Bryce Johnson (Expedition Operations), Dr. Mireya Mayor (Primatologist), Russell Acord (Ex-Military/Survivalist), Ronny LeBlanc (Bigfoot Researcher), and Ryan “RPG” Golembeske (Bigfoot Investigator) seek out the legendary beast of the Pacific Northwest.
The cameras of Expedition Bigfoot will track their “harrowing experience and pioneering endeavor” in an “undisclosed, remote location in a 90,000-acre swath of land in central Oregon,” according to producers.
“Travel Channel has assembled the very best team of experts in Bigfoot lore and science to give us proof of the creature’s existence once and for all,” said Matthew Butler, general manager, Travel Channel. “The journey is formidable, and the jeopardy is real. Skeptics and believers alike will both agree the trek this team makes is something they have never seen before.

Microsoft wants to bring gaming to absolutely everyone with its new Xbox Adaptive Controller.
The tech giant announced its Adaptive Controller in May, and it was met with wide fanfare for providing access to video games no matter a person’s physical abilities.
During E3, representatives from Microsoft allowed me to spend some time with its controller to see its multiple uses. It allows users with limited mobility to configure their controller in the way that works the best for them.

No one is more excited about Leslie Grossman’s return to Ryan Murphy’s world than Leslie Grossman herself. The self-professed TV fangirl, who admits to binging on shows like Westworld and The Handmaid’s Tale (and who has proudly watched every single episode of Housewives and Saturday Night Live), first worked with Murphy for the short-lived WB high school drama series Popular back in 1999.
Her highly quotable character, Mary Cherry, whom Murphy created specifically for her, seemed to temporarily typecast Grossman as a slightly oblivious, decidedly spoiled cheerleader type, and over the years, Grossman played into the caricature on shows like Nip/Tuck (another Murphy creation), What I Like About You and Modern Family.
But more recently, Grossman has resurfaced in an unlikely but inevitable place: as impressionable, politically apathetic, Nicole Kidman-loving Meadow Wilton, who takes a dark turn, on Murphy’s American Horror Story: Cult-- and, she tells Et the...

Some childhood homes hold good memories. This isn't one of them. For Madison, visiting the house where she grew up—and was nearly killed—is not a pleasant experience, and although she escaped death within its walls once before, the past isn't done with her yet, as evidenced by the spooky new trailer for Darkness Rising, a new IFC Midnight horror film with a cast that includes Ted Raimi.
Directed by Austin Reading from a screenplay by Vikram Weet, Darkness Rising stars Tara Holt, Katrina Law, Bryce Johnson, Heather Mazur, and Ted Raimi. IFC Midnight will release Darkness Rising in theaters and on VOD beginning June 30th.

A perspicacious examining of intimate moments, Paul Harrill's Something, Anything artfully circumnavigates narrative expectations in the manner of only the most thoughtful stories. Veering from relationship drama to romance to a coming-of-age film about an adult, Something, Anything refuses to pledge fealty to any particular genre, making itself at home instead as an astute study of one woman's path to self-actualization. The woman is Peggy (Ashley Shelton): She is married to Mark (Bryce Johnson), a not-particularly-considerate young professional, and pregnant with his child. That pregnancy turns into a miscarriage, which leads to the couple's separation. Peggy's one bright spot amid her loneliness is a bereavement note, filled with compassion, sent by Tim (Linds ...

An Alaska couple knocked on the door of their son's long-time girlfriend Thursday, intending to inform her that he'd been killed in a car accident. Karen and Jay Priest instead were stunned when the son, 29-year-old Justin Priest, answered the door. They had mistakenly been told by Juneau police that he'd been killed in the crash. Karen Priest said her husband started sobbing, and she was in shock. "There are no words," she said on Friday, still wrung out from what she called an emotional roller coaster. "We just kept staring at him." Justin Priest said he'd gotten up to...

Blair Witch meets Bigfoot as a documentary maker (Bryce Johnson) and his skeptical girlfriend (Alexie Gilmore) head into the California backwoods in search of the American yeti. Would you believe me if I told you that Bobcat Golthwait contributed more to the world of film than just screaming a the camera? I’d wager to say that even casual viewers of cinema have seen a film that the man has directed, even if they didn’t realize it. Recently Bobcat came back onto the scene with a little angry film called God Hates America, and it was one of my favorite films the year it was released. When I heard he was trying his hand at horror, with a Bigfoot-themed “found footage” film, it immediately piqued my interest. Based on everything I had read about the film, it promised to be returning to the roots of found footage, and styling itself more after Blair Witch than anything else. I’m happy to report that those claims are valid, and it really is an interested little take on the genre.

Following a tragic and traumatic miscarriage, Peggy (Ashley Selton) begins to ruminate on the things that matter most. She moves out of her marital home, leaves her career as a successful realtor and trades in her car for a smaller, more economical model. After receiving a condolence letter from Tim (Linds Edwards), a high school crush who — as revealed by a mutual friend – has since remade himself as a monk, she becomes preoccupied with her own spiritual beliefs. Inspired, she gives away many of her belongings and travels out to Kentucky to visit the abbey where he is believed to reside. Eventually, however, she must return home to Tennessee, to address her problems and come to some sort of arrangement with her estranged husband, Mark (Bryce Johnson).

The Fault in Their Yeti: Goldthwait’s Found Footage Cheapie a Generic Endeavor
Following his bitterly angry vituperation of American culture in 2013’s God Bless America, a problematic yet passionately realized film (and, sometimes, quite funny), Bobcat Goldthwait tackles the found footage subgenre with Willow Creek. Going for a sasquatch version of The Blair Witch Project, featuring a romantically involved couple engaging in a video project revolving around an area where the big ape-like creature has been often sited, it’s certainly a more entertaining film on the subject than, say, those Boggy Creek films. As far as found footage goes, Goldthwaite seems to have made this fast, loose, and strictly by the numbers. Certain chilling moments during a protracted night time sequence in a tent are indeed calibrated to give the film’s core audience exactly what it’s looking for. But it’s simply not enough to make...

Deviating from caustic comedies, Bobcat Goldthwait reaches into his toolbox and delivers a surprising foray into found-footage horror. "Willow Creek" embraces the limitations of this now-tired genre and breathes new life into it—it's not a true original but certainly a memorable rumination. Effectively a two-hander with our leads Jim (Bryce Johnson) and Kelly (Alexie Gilmore) dominating the frame for the majority of the running time, "Willow Creek" does a commendable job in fleshing out the ill-fated couple. Presented as a malformed Bigfoot documentary, Jim, steeped in cryptid mythology, strikes out to retrace the steps once taken by Roger Patterson and Bob Gilmin, whose footage, though largely dismissed as a probable hoax, remains hotly debated and cited. Along for the ride is his skeptical partner, Kelly, who embarks on the venture to support the idealistic Jim, enveloped by the Bigfoot legend and reveling at the townsfolk who've made a living out of marketing it.

Being a huge fan of Bobcat Goldthwait since his 1987 standup show “Share The Warmth,” I’ve seen him go from actor to comedian to writer-director. Huey Lewis, Barnacle scrapers, and Top Gun were never thought of the same way again after his concert.
There was nothing like him when he first came on the scene and almost thirty years later, the man is still a genius.
Described by Jimmy Kimmel as “Scary and the Hendersons” and by Bobcat himself as “The Blair-Squatch Project,” found footage movie Willow Creek is a radical departure in Goldthwait’s career after directing a string of black comedies (World’S Greatest Dad, God Bless America).
In the great American tradition of people venturing into the woods and encountering absolutely pants-wetting terror, what starts as two dorks with a video camera having a lark in a national park metastasizes into something much deeper, darker, and queasier.
