Rian James was born on October 3, 1899 in Eagle Pass, Texas, USA. He was a writer and director, known for 42nd Street (1933), Best of Enemies (1933) and Exclusive (1937). He was married to Marina Alexeieff (Anne Andre). He died on April 26, 1953 in Newport Beach, California, USA.
James authored seventeen books and over 20 plays and screenplays plus many additional works in collaborations with other writers.
After working as a newspaper columnist on the Brooklyn Eagle for seven years, James went on to be a foreign correspondent, parachute jumper, stunt man, airmail pilot, Air Force lieutenant, vaudeville actor and finally, writer, director and producer.
