Overtake! is a sports anime about F4 racing. Money and sponsorships determine the outcome as much as skill. The protagonist Haruka Asahina is a young driver allied with the independent “privateer” team Komaki Motors. All it takes is a bad tire for Haruka to lose a race. His rivals, Satsuki Harunaga and Toshiki Tokumaru, belong to the larger and wealthier team Belsorriso. They win even on their worst days. The stage is set for an underdog story, where a young boy comes from nowhere to beat the establishment at their own game. Related: Overtake! Is a Great Way to Get Into Formula Racing Certainly the climax of the series sees Haruka and Komaki Motors challenge Belsorriso’s dominance of the track. But Overtake! has a lot more on its mind than just Haruka’s story of perseverance. The series spends just as much time with Satsuki and Toshiki of Belsorriso.

It’s easy to find sport-specific lists of movies online. From Bodog’s list of the top 5 legendary basketball films — which puts the gritty and ageless White Men Can’t Jump at its #1 spot, and we couldn’t possibly agree more—To others that also cover films, it’s not rare to get a lowdown on the best or the most popular films in a particular sport.
Then there are also perennial lists for sports on film review websites, like Rotten Tomatoes’ list of 30 essential football films, and overall sports lists like IMDb’s all-time highest-rated sports films that can also include films not primarily sports-based. But what is generally lacking is the list of the best films in a select few sports, ones that are the most popular in the UK. Today, we’re going to make that list for you!

The 65th Grammy Awards take place on Sunday 5 February, with music fans preparing for the rematch of the century: Adele vs Beyoncé.
Both artists are up for Album of the Year, six years after Adele took home the top prize for her third record, 25. The win over Beyoncé’s critically adored surprise album Lemonade was highly controversial; Adele herself famously declared that Beyoncé deserved the prize during her acceptance speech.
This year, the British singer is competing with her record-obliterating fourth album, 30, released in 2021. A four-star review in The Independent praised the songs as “handsomely crafted ballads about love and its various agonies”, with Adele’s voice, as ever, the main draw. “Adele possesses that perfectly imperfect voice, gargantuan and frail all at once,” critic Annabel Nugent wrote. “It’s epic without resorting to showy, melismatic affectations. It yawns into unexpected shapes and makes intonation fun.”

Daniel Brühl will always stop for a photo with a fan. What he is recognised for largely depends on where in the world he is at the time. If he is in Italy, chances are people know him for playing Formula One ace Niki Lauda in Rush. In Germany, he is still approached by admirers of his early indie drama Good Bye Lenin! and outside Europe it will almost always be for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. Whichever role it is, the 44-year-old Brühl is happy to oblige. Other actors ask how he remains so patient. “I’ve always had this urge to be liked,” he confesses bashfully. “Even up until now.”
It’s funny because over the past two decades, the Spanish-German actor has cultivated a reputation for the opposite. On screen, he is often found scowling, if not moustache-twirling. First, there was his star-making turn as Tarantino’s unctuous,...

While Chris Hemsworth is most closely associated with the Asgardian space god with a heart of gold, Thor, his career has taken him on a variety of twists and turns. Back in 2013, fans got to see Hemsworth take on a new acting challenge. In Ron Howard's "Rush," Hemsworth portrayed British F1 driver James Hunt. Playing a real person comes with its own set of challenges. You aren't designing a fictional character from the ground up, so there's a real need for accuracy, from the personality down to the physicality. There's almost an unspoken pressure to get it right.

For as often as he directs vanilla Oscar bait and "hooey" Robert Langdon movies, Ron Howard sometimes pulls out a film like "Rush" and reminds us he's capable of making genuinely exciting pictures. Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl bring a fiery energy to their on-screen rivalry in the 2013 film as Formula One drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda, two alpha male types who butt heads in the 1970s. As is often the case with biopics, the movie take liberties with the facts, portraying the duo as frenemies. In truth, the real Hunt maintained they...

Chris Hemsworth can hide so much behind a smile. Best known for his brawny role as Thor in the MCU, Hemsworth has quietly built himself a multifaceted, character-driven niche playing morally ambiguous manipulators initially mistaken as harmless buffoons. From playing Formula One racer and playboy James Hunt in Ron Howard’s “Rush” to portraying a cult leader in Drew Goddard’s “Bad Times at the El Royale,” he works wonders, both comedically and dramatically, with this unsuspecting persona.

When The New Mutants went into production in early 2017, it was still part of what was once known unofficially as the Fox Marvel Universe: a collection of films based around the Marvel characters that 20th Century Fox owned the screen rights to and had no intention of giving up to Marvel Studios parent company Disney.
As director Josh Boone — a big fan of the comics — has explained, The New Mutants was meant as a different kind of superhero thriller, with the aesthetic and tone of a horror movie. In fact, it was meant to be the first of a trilogy, with each entry capturing a different horror movie feel. And yes, according to Boone, it was meant to be tied at least tangentially to the larger X-Men film series, which was reaching a climactic point with 2019’s Dark Phoenix.

Actor Daniel Brühl discussed the intense secrecy that surrounds even a simple mask in the Marvel universe, immediately falling in love with the script for The Alienist and more in the latest installment of Rolling Stone’s The First Time.
The actor is currently portraying Dr. Laszlo Kreizler on Season Two of The Alienist, which airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on TNT. The period drama/psychological thriller is based on Caleb Carr’s 1994 novel by the same name, and Brühl says the script for the pilot hooked him immediately.

It didn’t take long for Hollywood to realize it had something with Chris Hemsworth, but Australia held on to this star-in-the-making for years. The Wrap takes a look at the short-yet-productive career of the only man who could rival Hugh Jackman for pure Aussie star power.
Guinevere Jones (2002)
Thor wasn’t the first mythical figure Hemsworth got to play. His first screen appearance came courtesy of the Australian fantasy series “Guinevere Jones,” in which he appeared as the legendary King Arthur for a handful of episodes. Even then, it was clear that long hair was his look.
Home and Away (2004-07)
His breakout role, Hemsworth’s turn as high school dropout Kim Hyde came about after he auditioned for another role, but was turned down. He won a Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent and, at the height of his character’s popularity, competed in the fifth...

I have to agree with James Hunt from Screenrant on this one no matter how unpopular the idea is, Hopper really should have been killed off in season three of Stranger Things. There might be a collective gasp that goes up when this is uttered around fans of the show, but it’s the honest to goodness truth since the fake-out were given instead, confirmed by the season 4 peek that was shown online, was kind of a cheap move on the part of the show. There are a few reasons why Hopper should have died in the last season, not

Could Julian Day be the unofficial go-to costume designer for movies about icons? With films such as “Control” (Joy Division), “Nowhere Boy” (John Lennon), “Rush”, “Diana” (Princess Di) and “Bohemian
Rhapsody” (Freddie Mercury and Queen) on his eclectic resume, Day’s grasp of what directors and actors need to create the right tone and larger-than-life characters can be seen in “Rocketman.” The Elton John biopic stars Taron Egerton as John, and his costumes had to not only look authentic, but also had to stand up to the rigors of filming as well as performing, given John’s legendary onstage antics. Day also got to show off his knowledge on last season’s “Project Runway,” which mounted an Elton John costume challenge, with Day as the guest judge.

Here's what the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Hulu showrunners can learn from previous adaptations.
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy quite possibly stands as one of the most-adapted works of fiction in modern times. Since the initial broadcast of the radio show in the late '70s, it’s been a BBC TV show, a novel, a comic book, a stage show, a computer game, and a movie. All it’s missing is an interpretive dance version to complete a full set – and that’s only because a shiny, big-budget Us television remake is now on the cards for Hulu, helmed by Lost alumnus Carlton Cuse.
But what can this upcoming Hitchiker’s TV show learn from previous adaptations? And where might the new showrunners take it? Here’s what we think.

From more diversity to stronger genre angles to championing lesser-known heroes, the Phase Four slate shows Marvel doing what it does best
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
In 2014, Marvel Comics made some huge changes to their publishing line. As part of the Original Sin event, Thor found himself unworthy to wield Mjolnir and was replaced by a new, female Thor who was later revealed to be Jane Foster. Captain America, meanwhile, had the super-soldier serum in his body neutralized, causing him to rapidly age into a 90-year-old. He was replaced as Captain America by his long-time friend and partner, the Falcon.
Stop me if any of this sounds familiar.
At the time, Marvel’s attempt to rework the characters caused outrage with a certain section of fans, who decried the “forced diversity” of making Cap non-white and Thor a woman. They demanded the return...

With Peter Parker off on a European adventure in Far From Home, we look back at his comic-book counterpart's international travels
Spider-Man: Far From Home sees Marvel’s friendly neighborhood webslinger heading out of his familial home in New York City and visiting locations around Europe. For his latest outing, Tom Holland's Spidey visits Venice, Prague, Berlin, and, for the memorable final battle, London.
Director Jon Watts recently told Den of Geek that the inspiration for Spidey's European adventure came to him during the international press tour for the film's predecessor, Spider-Man: Homecoming. "There was a moment where Tom and I were on a rooftop in Rome, doing some interview. And I looked across and saw a stuntman dressed in a full Spider-Man suit, posing on this tiled rooftop with Rome behind him. And I thought: 'That would be a good movie.'"

Spider-Man: Far From Home marks the McU's first post-Endgame film. Let's revisit the final chapter of the Infinity Saga one last time.
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame and the wider McU.
At this point, it almost seems redundant to say that expectations for a Marvel movie were high and, despite that, the resulting film still smashed them out of the park. But just to get that piece of admin out of the way: they were and it did.
With a solid decade of hype to justify, the burden on Avengers: Endgame was bigger than possibly any piece of blockbuster cinema ever released. The fact that the film itself is now ever-so-close to becoming the highest-grossing movie of all time is proof that it did what it needed to.

We look at five classic comic stories that shine a light on the story of X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
When Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created Jean Grey, they could scarcely have predicted that she’d go on to star in one of the most culturally significant comic-book storylines ever. Nor would they have suspected that the Phoenix Saga (as it came to be known) would then form the basis of not one but two movies, including the latest and final X-Men outing of the Fox era, Dark Phoenix.
But who is Jean Grey, and how does she relate to the Phoenix? Here are the comic stories you need to read to understand what the story is there…

If anything, Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles isn't bonkers enough.
In the gloaming of the 21st Century’s second decade, the pop-cultural narrative has been dominated by superhero mash-ups and the idea of shared universes.
From the McU to the Dceu, from Ready Player One to Wreck-It Ralph, audiences have favoured combination over innovation. Whether you deride it as the end of culture, or forgive it as a collective grasp for familiarity in a world too mad to comprehend, it’s hard to deny that it is, for better or worse, what people want.
So it is that we find ourselves watching Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Fears of a cultural nadir aside, there’s tons to enjoy in this surprisingly apposite meeting. Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are all, at their core, city-based crimefighters with an animal theme and a plenty of martial arts moves.

Think some parts of Godzilla: King Of The Monsters were crazy? Check out some of its non-Hollywood predecessors...
Since 1954, Godzilla has loomed large in popular culture. With 35 cinematic outings under his spines and a 36th (Godzilla vs. Kong) due for release next year, he’s the star of one of the longest-running and most prolific movie franchises ever, thanks to Japanese studio Toho.
One of the best things about Godzilla is that the idea is so simple it can work in almost any context. Across various media, Godzilla has been on sea, land, air, space, and (in one comic series) even the biblical Hell. He’s fought aliens, robots, King Kong, and the Avengers. There’s nothing this mutant monster can’t do.
And to prove it, here are some of crazier things we’ve seen him get up to in his non-Hollywood outings...
Son of Godzilla (1967)
Forget the extremely non-canon Godzooky.

Nikolaus “Niki” Lauda, the Austrian Formula One racing legend whose rivalry with British driver James Hunt during the 1970s inspired the Ron Howard film “Rush,” died Monday from undisclosed causes. He was 70.
“His unique successes as a sportsman and entrepreneur are and remain unforgettable,'” Lauda’s family said in a statement. “His tireless drive, his straightforwardness and his courage remain an example and standard for us all. Away from the public gaze he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. We will miss him very much.”
Born in 1949, Lauda entered a racing career despite the disapproval of his family. The entire Marvel roster comes together to fight the McU's biggest bad yet, in a crossover event unlike anything we've seen before

How could Avengers: Infinity War have possibly been any better? That’s the only question we can ask anyone who doesn’t love this movie. Sure, if you’re not into Marvel or you skipped a bunch of the previous instalments it’ll be very hard to understand what’s going on. But for those of us who have enjoyed every Marvel film, who have followed its arc and its characters from day one, this film promises two and a half hours of sheer, unfettered joy. And then it delivers it like a piece of precision clockwork.

Marvel finally takes us to Wakanda for the McU's 18th chapter: a blistering blockbuster with something more to say...
This article contains spoilers for Black Panther and the wider McU.
There was a time when a Black Panther movie seemed like a gamble. The character, though notable for being the first black superhero, was always a D-list seller in the comics, and one who had rarely commanded much licensing power.
Where Iron Man comics were published near-continuously since the character’s inception, the Black Panther’s staying power was uneven at best. In retrospect, it seems sort of absurd that there was ever any uncertainty.
As it is, Black Panther is currently the highest grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe movie at the domestic (Us) box office, with only Infinity War nipping at its heels. Internationally it lands in a comfortable fourth behind the three Avengers movies. Admittedly,...

Thor star Chris Hemsworth has revealed that he would "love to" play fictional spy James Bond after actor Daniel Craig quits. The actor, 35, expressed his interest in the role while talking with Balance magazine, after the publication pointed out his critically acclaimed performance as British Formula One driver James Hunt made him a perfect candidate, reports dailymail.co.uk.
He explained: "When we were shooting Rush, someone had said that and I thought, 'Cool, if this is my audition tape, then great'. I don't think you'll ever meet anyone who doesn't want to have a crack at James Bond. I'd love to do it."
"But that's up to so many elements and is way beyond myself; it's not one you can pitch yourself on to either."
"It's something that the community of Bond fans, (producer) Barbara Broccoli and the whole crew there agree on, and it has to be a very organic decision from them.

Chris Hemsworth as James Bond? "I'd love to do it."
We've already had one Australian James Bond with George Lazenby's turn in 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the sixth film in the Bond series, but is it time for another? Chris Hemsworth certainly thinks so!
In a new interview with Balance, Hemsworth has been chatting about the various characters he's tackled over the years, including English race car driver James Hunt in Ron Howard's Rush, which the actor thinks could make for a bit of a Bond audition tape.

Chris Hemsworth may be Australian (and a Norse God) but he would “love” a shot to play the world’s most famous fictional Englishman, James Bond.
In an interview with the fitness magazine Balance, Hemsworth was asked about portraying 007 in a future film and says he thinks he already has one movie in his filmography that’s the perfect “audition tape.” Hemsworth cited 2013’s “Rush,” directed by Ron Howard, in which he played the womanizing, lean English race car driver James Hunt.
