[This story contains spoilers for The Iron Claw and A Murder at the End of the World.]
Harris Dickinson is having a December to remember.
The rising English actor has concluded 2023 with two standout roles in Sean Durkin’s The Iron Claw and Brit Marling/Zal Batmanglij’s A Murder at the End of the World. In the former, Dickinson plays professional wrestler David Von Erich, the third of Fritz Von Erich’s (Holt McCallany) six sons, and the second out of five to suffer a tragic fate. The role has a lot in common with Dickinson’s other current role as Bill “Fangs” Farrah on A Murder at the End of the World, as both characters’ deaths set their respective stories in motion.
Oddly enough, Dickinson has played the first major domino to fall on two other occasions, starting with 2021’s The King’s Man and then 2022’s Where the Crawdads Sing. Each death is central to their narrative,...

The Von Erichs were the first family of Lone Star professional wrestling in the late 1970s and 1980s, a dynasty of Dallas-based all-stars who took on all comers throughout the North Texas circuit. First there was Fritz Von Erich, the patriarch who’d begun his career in the 1950s and eventually became president of the World Class Championship Wrestling organization. Then came Kevin, the second oldest of the Von Erich brood of sons (the oldest, Jack, had died as a child) who was being groomed to be the world heavyweight champion.

Project Blue Book fans will be left with a few questions after History cancelled the Aidan Gillen-fronted drama.
The second season of the UFO drama ended on March 24 with Gillen’s Dr. Allen Hynek searching for his colleague Capt. Michael Quinn, played by Michael Malarkey, who was evidently blown to bits by an underwater explosion.
However, the A+E Networks’ cable network has opted not to pursue a third season of the show.
The show was created by David O’Leary, who served as writer and executive producer alongside writer-showrunner Sean Jablonski, Zemeckis, Jackie Levine and Barry Jossen.
Produced by A+E Studios and Compari Entertainment, Project Blue Book is inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Gillen), a brilliant college professor recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead this clandestine operation — Project Blue Book — that researched thousands of cases, more than 700 of which remain unsolved to this day.

After abruptly pulling the George Nolfi-directed The Banker on the eve of its closing-night berth at AFI Fest last year and indefinitely postponing the December 6 release that was to mark Apple’s debut as a theatrical distributor, Apple has finally come forward and dated the period film for a March 6 theatrical release before it is placed on the Apple TV+ streaming service March 20.
Apple’s PR has steadfastly been ducking calls on this situation, which cropped up after allegations were made of sexual assault by Cynthia Garrett, who said her brother Bernard Garrett Jr molested both she and her sister when they were children.
The film tells the story of two black entrepreneurs, Bernard Garrett Sr (Anthony Mackie) and Joe Morris (Samuel L. Jackson), who after becoming millionaires through Los Angeles real estate dealings banded together to buy banks in Texas, a perilous pursuit in the Jim Crow South.

“The Banker” director George Nolfi and the movie’s cast, crew, producers, and writers signed an open letter published Monday defending the film based on the life of African American businessman Bernard Garrett. Distributor Apple delayed its release last month after Garrett’s daughter Cynthia Garrett accused her half brother Bernard Garrett Jr., one of the film’s producers, of sexual abuse and helping craft an inaccurate narrative of their father’s life. The filmmakers in their letter wrote the film was based not on the memories of the Garrett children, but from interviews with Garrett himself, and transcripts, court rulings, and media reports. (Via Variety).
In the statement, Nolfi, cast members Anthony Mackie (who protrays Garrett), Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult, Nia Long, and others, expressed sympathy for Cynthia Garrett in light of allegations that Garrett Jr. sexually abused her as a child, but defended the film and “its positive message of empowerment.

The cast and crew of “The Banker” are rising to the defense of the film after Apple delayed its release. The technology giant had originally planned to debut “The Banker” in the height of awards season, giving it a prime release date as it moves more aggressively into the content space. However, things changed after Cynthia Garrett, the daughter of the film’s protagonist, Bernard Garrett, accused Bernard Garrett, Jr., one of the film’s producers and her half-brother, of sexual abuse.

Breaking: On the week that their film was supposed to open in theaters as Apple’s first theatrical release, the makers of The Banker — above and below the line — have issued a statement in solidarity and support for the message contained within a feature film that became embattled when Apple abruptly pulled it from the coveted AFI closing night slot and indefinitely postponed its theatrical release. Apple took those steps after allegations were made in social media posts by Cynthia Garrett — daughter of the film’s main character Bernard Garrett Sr — that her half brother Bernard Garrett Jr (who was listed as co-producer) molested her and her sister decades ago. Garrett Jr has denied those charges and his name immediately disappeared from the producing credits, which he said was his decision. Garrett Jr’s name also doesn’t appear among the 53 who signed the statement below.

"If this was easy, somebody else would've done it a long time ago." We're entering a new era. Apple TV has debuted the first official trailer for one of their very first "An Apple Original" films. The Banker is a feature directed by George Nolfi that will be opening in limited theaters in December before it's available later on the new "Apple TV" subscription streaming service. The film tells the story of one of the first African American bankers in the Us. Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson star in this true story as two businessmen who devise a plan to help "other African Americans pursue the American dream." The cast also includes Nia Long, Nicholas Hoult, Jessie T. Usher, Colm Meaney, Paul Ben-Victor, Gregory Alan Williams, Michael Harney, and James DuMont. This looks like a solid film, wit h an upbeat and inspirational vibe that should give it an edge.

“Orange Is the New Black” returns for its seventh and final season next month, and the new trailer promises at least one major character will make a reappearance. Yes, that’s right, the chicken is back.
Longtime fans of the show will remember a particularly affecting Season 1 episode in which Piper (Taylor Schilling), in the process of adjusting to her new life in prison, grew obsessed with a chicken that had somehow made its way into the prison’s perimeter. She later discovered the bird to be a Lichfield urban legend, subject of rumor and skepticism.
And now, the chicken is back. In the full-length trailer for the Netflix drama’s final season, debuting July 26, Suzanne (Uzo Aduba) is the one comes face-to-face with the elusive fowl.

Pat Healy (The Post), Melinda McGraw (Outcast) and Michael Harney (Orange Is the New Black) are set to recur opposite Peter Sarsgaard, Kyle Gallner, Kodi Smit-McPhee and David Strathairn in CBS All Access’ straight-to-series true-crime drama Interrogation.
Co-created by Swedish writer-producer Anders Weidemann and John Mankiewicz, Interrogation is an original concept based on a true story that spanned more than 30 years, in which a young man (Gallner) was charged and convicted of brutally murdering his mother.
The series’ first nine episodes will be available to binge in any order with each episode structured around an interrogation. The multi-linear approach will give viewers the opportunity to follow their instincts and develop their own interpretations of the facts of the case and ultimately decide innocence or guilt. The season finale will be released at a later date.
Healy will play a criminal defense lawyer representing the young man charged with killing his mother.

The inmates of Litchfield Prison could only dream about the kind of mass exit experienced by the cast of Orange is the New Black yesterday, though they no doubt would not feel the same sadness.
“Oitnb series wrap!,” wrote Taylor Schilling on her Instagram page, one of many cast members posting their public goodbyes on social media as the seventh and final season of the Netflix prison comedy-drama wrapped yesterday. “Whoa. My heart is full and achey and so overflowing with gratitude I’m a little dizzy.”
“This is a family,” wrote creator and executive producer Jenji Kohan as the caption of a photo of cast and crew posing on the prison set. (See it and all social media messages below).
The social media farewells actually began in the days building up to yesterday’s wrap, with some cast members marking their own final days of filming over the past week or so.

Hot off the news of a Season 2 renewal, History’s Project Blue Book is heating up as the first season is four episodes away from coming to a close. With ballots in hand, something has been bugging me. Folks, it makes no sense that Bradley Cooper has been more successful at the Grammy Awards than at any film centric precursor this year. Just a few short months ago, A Star Is Born was poised to challenge for the most nominations ever by a movie at the Academy Awards. Beyond that, it was thought of as a frontrunner in Best Picture, Best Director (for Cooper), Best Actor (for Cooper as well), and Best Original Song, at the very least. Now, it enters the final days before the Oscar telecast only tapped to win Original Song. This begs the question: what in the world happened here? A refresher, in case you need it. This is what I wrote when A Star Is Born was first released: “The movie is of course a remake. In fact, it’s the fourth version of the story.

Project Blue Book gets one of its most puzzling cases while the show continues to slide into mythological UFO conspiracy.
This Project Blue Book review contains spoilers.
Project Blue Book Episode 3
The latest episode of Project Blue Book centers around the mysterious case of the Lubbock Lights. Hundreds of local witnesses in Texas spotted strange lights in the sky, including scientists. The show preserves many of the salient aspects of this real-life UFO event, but there was a hard turn into make-believe land that is continuing to propel the show into conspiracy and intrigue. The show is venturing pretty deep into La-La land, which is entertaining, but I hope the facts don’t get too lost in a sea of conspiracy. Then again, that is what I’m here for.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis has long been fascinated by the fusion of historical fact with inventive fiction — I Wanna Hold Your Hand, 1941, Back to the Future and, of course, Forrest Gump are a few of his past projects that memorably embroidered fictional characters over historical events.
“That’s one of the things that really grabs me is starting with history and extrapolating events from that history,” Zemeckis said. “It makes things interesting to me when it’s all melted together. And that is why I fell in love with the pitch for Project: Blue Book from the very start.”
That pitch led Zemeckis to his executive producer role for the new UFO-themed drama Project: Blue Book, which premieres tonight on History with a story device that puts the shadowy series in the middle-ground that lies somewhere between In Search Of...

The most surprising thing about “Project Blue Book” is that it took so long to become a TV show in the first place. As it will tell you itself at the top of every episode, History’s new scripted drama is “based on true events,” or at least the recorded instances of possible UFO sightings and the Air Force’s subsequent investigations during the 1950’s and ’60s. Each week, a new case sparks new intrigue, both about the potential of both alien life and a government conspiracy to cover it up. All the while, the Cold War looms ominously, infusing everyone with a deep unease and paranoia they can’t shake no matter how hard they try to stave it all off.
In this way, “Project Blue Book” sets itself up to be a period piece “X Files,” a reliable formula that would be hard to fumble completely. That inspiration...

One of my most anticipated shows of 2019 is a new UFO investigation drama series Project Blue Book. This show looks awesome! I especially like that it feels like a retro 1950s version of The X-Files. I’ve got four new trailers for the series for you to watch today that offer some more new footage and teases some of the stories that it will tell.
For those of you who have watched all the UFO documentaries and series on the History Channel, I’m sure you know all about what Project Book Book is. If not:
Project Blue Book chronicles the top-secret true U.S. Air Force-sponsored investigations into UFO-related phenomena in the 1950s and ’60s, known as Project Blue Book.
The series stars Game of Thrones alum Aidan Gillen, who plays Dr. J. Allen Hynek, "a brilliant college professor recruited by the Air Force to spearhead this clandestine operation that researched thousands of cases,...
