'W' Clip Exposes When George Met Laura

28 August 2008 11:19 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Oliver Stone's latest biopic project "W" has gone forward with its promo as CNN brings forth a brand new clip from the film. Highlighting one of the memorable moments in George W. Bush's life before his presidency, the video focuses on the first meeting between the future 43rd U.S. president and Laura Welch, a Democrat who later becomes known as the First Lady Laura Bush.

Commenting on the two's first encounter, Stone shared to CNN about the unlikely couple. "Even though he was a partying Republican candidate for Congress, and she was a Democratic librarian, there was something bigger between them that lasted," he said. "Their meeting at the barbecue has been documented by family friends in numerous books. For them, it was the best thing that ever came out of a Texas barbecue."

Chronicling the life and presidency of one of the most controversial public figures in recent memory,

Behind-the-Scene Videos of Oliver Stone's 'W'

20 August 2008 8:36 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Following the revealing of "W" teaser trailer in July, two new behind-the-scene clips of the upcoming drama biopic about the 43rd U.S. President from noted filmmaker Oliver Stone have been unearthed. The two videos come courtesy of Access Hollywood via Trailer Addict.

The first clip displays the B-Roll footages in which George Bush's depicter Josh Brolin can be seen filming the scene where President Bush is delivering a speech. Meanwhile, the second one exposes the scene where Bush practices a parachute landing into the water. It also includes an interview with Stone and Brolin.

Promising to deliver the struggles and triumphs in the life and presidency of the 43rd and current President of the United States George W. Bush, "W" will also tell how Bush found both his wife and his faith as well as chronicle the days leading to his decision to invade Iraq. The Lionsgate Film's

Worth Watching - Aug 8: International Fireflies in the Garden Trailer

9 August 2008 3:08 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

The first international trailer for Fireflies in the Garden has been discovered online. Unfortunately I agree with Cinematical, this isn't the greatest trailer, but I feel like I can see through it to a better film within. If you thought the ensemble cast for Winged Creatures was impressive, what until you hear the line-up in this: Willem Dafoe, Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Ioan Gruffudd, and even everyone's favorite cheerleader, Hayden Panettiere. Seeing trailers like this really gets me in the mood for the upcoming film festival and Oscar season. Fireflies in the Garden will definitely be on my list of films to see. However, I've got to wonder, are ensemble dramas the new big thing? Movie Trailer - The Heavy-Hitting Drama 'Fireflies in the Garden'

7 August 2008 11:48 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Fireflies in the Garden premiered back in February at the Berlin Film Festival, and it very much has the luck of a festival-friendly movie. With its impressive ensemble, its non-linear storyline, and some pretty scarring family drama, the film is not one likely to pack 'em in, despite the presence of Julia Roberts.

That doesn't mean this is a bad movie, of course, merely that it won't do Pretty Woman business, a comparison I realize is terribly unfair to Roberts at this point in her career. After all, she won an Oscar for Erin Brockovich (in a performance I'll gladly defend if you want to challenge me), and how quickly we forget her work in Closer.

Still, Fireflies in the Garden looks like it's tackling some things head-on rather than sweeping subjects under the rug, and that's always a good thing for drama. In this case, the Waetcher family has

5 August 2008 4:41 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

The guys over at AICN today posted a brand-new poster for Oliver Stone’s upcoming George W. Buch biopic “W.” The film from a script by Stanley Weiser will focus primarily on what drove George W. Bush (played by Josh Brolin) to make a run for the U.S. presidency, but the plot will also examine part of his career as the commander in chief.

A first teaser trailer for the film was released just a few weeks ago. Click here to see it. Meanwhile, enjoy the new poster below. It’s in fact a quite simple one-sheet, but it think it has an interesting strength to it as well. What do you guys think? “W.” also stars Elizabeth Banks, Richard Dreyfuss, Thandie Newton, Ioan Gruffudd, James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn. The flick opens in limited release Oct. 17, 2008.

Check out the teaser trailer for ‘W.’

28 July 2008 12:45 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

The first teaser for Oliver Stone’s upcoming George W. Bush biopic is now online, and although it doesn’t reveal much about the plot itself, the footage at least shows us what the central characters look like. Most of the actors appearing in the trailer wear heavy makeup, but they certainly look a lot like the real people they’re portraying.

In short, “W.” chronicles the life and presidency of George W. Bush, with a focus on what drove the man to go into politics and run for president. Josh Brolin stars as the titular character. Elizabeth Banks, Ioan Gruffudd, Thandie Newton, Ellen Burstyn, Jeffrey Wright and James Cromwell co-star.

Although Stone said his film is not going to bash Bush, I have a feeling we’ll see more negative stuff surrounding the central character than good. But who knows, maybe Stone manages to follow Stephen Frears’ flawless approach

Paul Cantelon: W.

28 July 2008 2:42 AM, PDT | From Moviescore Media | See recent Moviescore Media news

Oliver Stone's upcoming political satire about president George W. Bush, W., gets an original score by French composer Paul Cantelon, who recently wrote the acclaimed score for costume drama The Other Boleyn Girl. The film is sure to cause some controversy, as it chronicles the life of George W. Bush with a lot of A-list actors portraying the politicians surrounding him: Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney, Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld, Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair... the part as Bush himself is played by Josh Brolin, and his father is done by James Cromwell. The screenplay is by Stanley Weiser, a regular Stone collaborator who previously wrote the script for Wall Street. Paul Cantelon got his big break with the French art house movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly in 2007 and also wrote the music for the 2005 independent hit Everything Is Illuminated. W.

Rhys A 'True Friend' To Gruffudd

29 June 2008 3:53 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Welsh actor Matthew Rhys proved his friendship to Ioan Gruffudd by looking after the Fantastic Four star when he was passed out drunk.

The Edge of Love star is a close pal of Gruffudd and the pair shared a flat together in London for eight years.

And Rhys admits there were times when their relationship was tested - mostly after drunken nights out.

He says, "After one heavy night, I went around the flat looking for him and couldn't find him anywhere until, finally, I went to the bathroom and found him asleep around the toilet.

"Out of the toilet bowl were poking the ends of his glasses, so I fished them out and put them back on his sleeping face. Now that is a mark of true friendship."

Gruffudd's 'Bad Audition' Lands Rhys A Role

2 June 2008 9:00 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd deliberately sabotaged his audition for new movie The Edge Of Love - in a bid to help his pal Matthew Rhys land a part.

Director John Maybury says Rhys is now indebted to Gruffudd after helping him secure a part in the movie based on Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

Maybury says, "Matthew got his mate Ioan to do a really bad audition on the same tape as his own audition.

"That way I'd look at Ioan's first and say 'Oh, that's bad', before seeing Matthew's wonderful performance."

Gruffudd's Wife Gives Him Black Eye

29 April 2008 5:26 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd arrived at a recent awards ceremony sporting a black eye - reportedly from his wife, actress Alice Evans.

The Fantastic Four star was forced to wear heavy make-up over an unmistakable shiner at Wales' Bafta Awards on Sunday - after Evans, 36, allegedly whacked him in the face with a golf club by accident.

But all seemed to be forgiven, as Gruffudd paid tribute to his partner when collecting the Tlws Sian Phillips Award for his contribution to film, declaring: "Love you, baby angel."

Reports: Eli Manning to Tie the Knot This Weekend

17 April 2008 7:35 AM, PDT | From PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news

This year's Super Bowl hero Eli Manning and his fiancée, Abby McGrew, are reportedly planning a super private wedding this weekend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. "It will be small, just friends and family," a friend of the New York Giants quarterback is quoted as telling New York's Daily News. The paper says the couple are due to fly to Mexico Thursday, in anticipation of their Saturday event at the One&Only Palmilla resort – whose Web site says of the plush oasis: "The purity and beauty throughout the grounds of One&Only Palmilla allows for a variety of intimate celebration venues.
