The new Fierce Network will include the publications of Fierce Wireless, Fierce Telecom and Silverlinings.
Questex is merging its various telecom blogs into a single product that will carry the Fierce Network brand name, the company announced this week.
The plan was announced Monday at the Mobile World Congress (Mwc) in Barcelona, during which executives affirmed the new Fierce Network will include the editorial publications of Fierce Wireless, Fierce Telecom and cloud network-focused Silverlinings.
Fierce Network will expand on those verticals to include coverage of artificial intelligence (AI), fixed and mobile broadband solutions, cloud infrastructure, security, Internet of Things, application modernization and other sectors.
“We’re on the brink of the next great global revolution in the communications industry,” Kevin Gray, the publisher of Questex’s telecom-focused websites, said in a statement. “The industry is converging and the lines of separation between wireless, wire-line, and cloud are ceasing to exist.

Donald Byrd’s dynamic 1973 live recording Live: Cookin’ with Blue Note at Montreux got its first-ever official release on December 9th on what would have been the legendary trumpeter’s 90th birthday. In July 1973, Blue Note Records headed to Montreux, Switzerland to showcase several of the label’s stars at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Produced by Blue Note President George Butler, live albums all titled Live: Cookin’ with Blue Note at Montreux followed from vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, organist Ronnie Foster, flutist Bobbi Humphrey, and vocalist Marlena Shaw, but one of the performances by Byrd remained unreleased in the Blue Note vaults, until now.
That summer, Byrd was fresh off the release of his hit crossover fusion album Black Byrd, the first of his innovative and incredibly successful studio collaborations with producer Larry Mizell. But in a live setting the band had a rawer, harder edge, as this searing set attests.

New details have emerged on the plan to castrate and murder Justin Bieber, 19, and they're as horrifying as you'd expect.
In December of last year, a terrifying story surfaced: A convicted murderer by the name of Dana Martin enlisted a former fellow inmate and the inmate's cousin to carry out a demented plot to kidnap, mutilate, and kill Bieber and his bodyguard.
The plan fortunately failed and now, from his prison cell, Martin speaking out to Details magazine, telling his side of the story.
"I never really had empathy in my life," Martin -- who is serving a life sentence for killing a 15-year-old girl -- told Details' Kevin Gray. When asked 'Why Bieber,' Martin said, "It isn't just so people will know who I am. It's because he changed, and that made me angry."

Collider: Jeff Ames comments on a report from an Australian Web site that Warner Brothers “has expressed interest in a sequel” to Christopher Nolan’s “Inception,” which was released domestically this summer and has earned nearly $811 million internationally. Ames writes, “Nolan clearly enjoyed the experience of making the film and has recently stated plans to develop a video game based on the concept,” but “there really isn’t a logical way to further explore the world” portrayed in the film aside from a prequel — especially after Sir Michael Caine’s spoiler-slip on BBC Radio last month — so it will all depend on Nolan’s personal level of interest.

I’ve been mining the interblog caves long enough to recognize a story that requires absolutely no additional commentary to be Bwe post-worthy. Everyone, please say hello to this story about Shaquille O’Neal and Paris Hilton both trying to purchase the world’s smallest horse: Einstein, the pint-sized pinto and world’s smallest horse, isn’t for sale. Not even Paris Hilton or Shaquille O’Neal — who’ve expressed interest in acquiring the New Hampshire-bred miniature horse — could write a large enough check for Einstein, owner Charlie Cantrell said. “Shaq would have to arm-wrestle Paris Hilton for him,” said Cantrell, jokingly, from his home in Gilmanton. “We’ve been contacted by so many people, but he’s not for sale. He’s priceless.” “How much I like dat horse,” O’Neal tweeted to sports writer Kevin Gray. What jokes can be added to this? My input would only dilute the sweet,...
