- Born in Syracuse, New York, in 1948, he attended Auburn Community College in 1966, then transferred to the University of Hawaii, where he developed a keen interest in photography. Further studies at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara and the San Francisco Art Institute, led to a desire to work in the film industry. In 1982 began working at George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic in San Rafael, California where he has over 50 feature film credits to his name, 5 of which have won Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects with an additional 9 Best Visual Effects nominations.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Carl LaFong
