Robinson plays Craig Waterman, a suburban dad whose life takes an unexpected turn when he befriends his enigmatic new neighbor, Austin Carmichael, played by Rudd. Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra, Billy Bryk, Jason Veasey and Jon Glaser also star.
DeYoung also wrote the screenplay for the movie, which was one of the breakout titles at TIFF this year, with the film receiving raves for how hilarious and uncomfortable the movie made audiences. The movie played as part of the Midnight Madness program at the festival.

Actors Michaela Watkins and Dan Bakkedahl reminisce about the filming of their new show Dinner with the Parents in their new uInterview.
Dinner with the Parents follows the escapades of two Langer brothers in their twenties who regularly attend dinner at their parents’ house – the family gathers every week for dinner, only to find themselves filled with remorse afterward. The show amusingly portrays their weekly family gatherings’ chaotic and disastrous nature.
“Dan makes me spit-take, genuinely,” Watkins told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “I just don’t see it coming, and he knocks me sideways with comedy. I mean, I laugh a lot. I was watching the episodes, and I was going, ‘Okay, it’s not just me.’ My husband and I were just cracking up.”
She told Bakkedahl, “I remember the episodes where you had the hot wings, and you’re not feeling well and sweating, and you’re about to throw up.

American TV bosses obviously didn’t learn many lessons from “Episodes,” the Showtime/BBC co-production which brilliantly skewered the habit of adapting British sitcoms, and removing all nuances, subtleties, and idiosyncrasies in the process. In the 13 years since its premiere, there’s been numerous failed pilots (“Spy”), ratings disasters (“Free Agents”), and entire series considered unfit for public consumption (“Us and Them”) which originated across the pond. Now the most singular UK comedy of the 2010s is going transatlantic.
The BAFTA-nominated “Friday Night Dinner” — which served up 37 episodes from 2011-2020 —stemmed from creator Robert Popper’s real-life secular Jewish family and their weekly Shabbat meals, explaining why everything from its suburban London home to its lovable oddballs feels so wonderfully specific. Disappointingly, Amazon Freevee’s “Dinner with the Parents” is as generic as its title.
The 10-part series on Freevee does attempt to retain some of the original’s quirks.

While Ghosts fans waited a long time for Season 3’s arrival, they’ll have to wait a little longer as the ongoing season is temporarily sidelined due to March Madness. Fans of the CBS sitcom about a couple sharing an inherited estate with an eclectic mix of spirits will have to stand by as the show takes a brief hiatus for the annual basketball tournament which pushes Ghosts‘ Season 3 return to April 4. In other words, there’s no new episode until the new month, so fans will be waiting a little while to enjoy the sixth episode, “Hello, Brother.” (Credit: Bertrand Calmeau/CBS) The installment will air in Ghosts‘ regular timeslot on Thursdays when Season 3 picks back up on April 4th, and the episode will see Trevor’s (Asher Grodman) brother, Jeremy (guest star Jon Glaser), check into Woodstone’s B&b after discovering a loophole in the Woodstone Rewards Points program.

Jonathan Glazer’s first directed title in 10 years, The Zone of Interest, shows an aspect of the Holocaust never seen, that from the Pov of the Nazis who lived outside the Auschwitz camp, building dream lives of their own.
The protagonists living a bucolic life are the commandant of Auschwitz, Rudolf Höss, and his wife Hedwig.
Asked by a reporter Saturday the day after the film had its work premiere at Cannes how he hopes Zone of Interest addresses the current problem of the resurgence of the far-right across Europe and the U.S. and Holocaust nihilism, Glazer answered, “I hope the film that we made, what it’s trying to do is to talk to the capacity within each of us for violence.”
“Wherever you’re from, it’s to try and show these people as people, not as monsters; that was an important thing to do,” said the filmmaker.

Tina Belcher (Dan Mintz) is perpetually stuck on the cusp of teenhood. After all, she's a character on an animated sitcom, which means she doesn't get to age. The eldest daughter of Bob (H. John Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) is desperately hormonal and fascinated by boys and butts (and especially boys' butts). She is ready to be a woman, but she isn't ready to give up her vivid imagination. She's eager to grow up but content to sink back into childhood. In short, she's a bundle of contradictions, and that's why we love her.
Over the years, "Bob's Burgers" has put Tina through the wringer. She's had her trials and tribulations, and she's occasionally gotten a taste of the grown-up freedom she desires. However, the pressures of being on a long-running sitcom mean she's doomed to continue learning the same lessons over and over. She's afraid of getting in trouble,...

For years, strippers have been depicted cinematically as damsels needing to be saved. In fact, movies have almost exclusively looked at sex workers as damaged individuals. Awards wise, it’s catnip for voters, by and large. The features themselves have been mostly heavy affairs, give or take something like Woody Allen’s Mighty Aphrodite, which did actually win Mira Sorvino an Oscar. Magic Mike flipped the script a bit a few years ago and now we have Hustlers, which empowers strippers in a way that cinema has never seen before. In showcasing a determined group of women rebelling against not just toxic masculinity, but the elite as well, this is poised to be one of the surprise hits of 2019. The film is based on a true story, specifically a New York Magazine article that went viral a handful of years ago. We are first introduced to Destiny (Constance Wu), a...

"You want 'em drunk enough to get their credit card, but sober enough to sign the check." Stx released the second & final trailer for Hustlers, based on a magazine article about "Robin Hood" strippers who "turned the tables" on their Wall Street clients. This trailer is a but snappier, more of an extended TV spot compared to the first. The latest film by Lorene Scafaria, it's a true story told in this article about a group of hustler strippers in NYC. The full cast includes Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Cardi B, Stormi Maya, Frank Whaley, Madeline Brewer, Trace Lysette, Lizzo, Rhys Coiro, Jon Glaser, Usher Raymond, Tia Barr, and Brandon Keener. Looks like a wildly fun mash-up between Showgirls and The Usual Suspects. Here's the second official trailer (+ poster) for Lorene Scafaria's Hustlers, direct from Stx's YouTube: You can still watch the first...

"...according to Pressler, that's why I think we got greedy. Because of the amount of stress we had to endure. We're just like, You know what, these people are fucking pissing me off.
"Just for that, I’m going to max out his credit card, like a penalty. You’re going to be left with a zero balance. Zero credit line. Just for being annoying. We needed to make it worth it...If we don’t do it, someone else is going to do it...Men don’t want to admit to being victimized by women..."
Cast also includes Mercedes Ruehl,...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday.
This week’s question: What’s is the best current basic cable network? Why?
Clint Worthington (@clintworthing), Consequence of Sound, The Spool
Can there be any other answer than FX? “Pose,” “American Crime Story,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” “Atlanta” — show after show manages to be a gorgeously filmed, genre-twisting masterpiece that carves out a special place in an increasingly balkanized pop culture conversation. Even when some series’ reach exceeds their grasp — “Legion”, anyone? — at least their greatest pitfall is an overabundance of ambition. It may not make sense, but it doesn’t feel like any show you’ve ever seen before. As a rule, FX shows are allergic to playing it safe, which makes even their most flawed shows that much more fascinating. There’s a network-wide feeling of invention and innovation over there,...
