We’re halfway through season 1 with one of my favorite directors and the most savagely political episode of the series.
Season 1, Episode 6: “Homecoming”
Director: Joe Dante
Original Air Date: December 2nd, 2005
We horror fans adore Joe Dante, and we’re right to do so. His films are special: funny, subversive, self-referential, smart, and silly. He loves genre movies and his work reflects that, whether it’s the monster movie adoration of The Howling or the celebration of science fiction that is Innerspace and Explorers, or just the wonderful absurdity of The ’Burbs or Gremlins 2. But because he’s such a sweet and lovable guy, what we rarely talk about when it comes to Dante is his edge. There is a darkness to Dante’s work that can be cutting. I mean, this is the filmmaker who insisted Phoebe Cates’ Santa Clause monologue be included in Gremlins, and who bit...

Steve Parker is one half of Cthulhu Crush Productions, a Us based production company that are pushing out some very unique (and some might say controversial) films. Their latest is The Dark Place, a Jody Wheeler-directed thriller that encompasses all the usual thriller elements – though the lead is a gay man. Later down the line, the company has Wtf! Coming out – a traditional ‘Cabin in the Woods’ type thriller. In this interview Parker gives us the lowdown on both films…
Steve, you have so many projects going on. Are these funnelled out through your own production company?
Yes, generally. Cthulhu Crush Productions is the hub for all of the work Jody and I do, separately or together.
Why did you begin producing?
Projects don’t start themselves. And producing was how to create the projects I wanted to work on. My primary love is editing, but I also have a software engineering job.

According to Gless, who talked to TheBacklot last week, the answer is yes.

Syfy has announced the dates for its upcoming season/series premieres and finales, and it holds a lot of promise as well as at least one laugh. Season finales have been set for Being Human – But Where’S The Next Season Renewal, Syfy? Premiere dates, as we’ve already told you, for the Mmo game-linked Defiance and for fan favorite Warehouse 13 are now confirmed, as well as the return of Ghost Hunters.
New unscripted series announced include a paranormal show with a southern accent, Deep South Paranormal, and a William Shatner-hosted – Yes, William Shatner – examination of stories of the bizarre and unexplained entitled Weird or What? Lets face it, as television viewers we grow attached to the gay characters that resonate with us on the small screen, and with the actors that bring life to these roles. We also find ourselves growing fond of out-and-proud actors that have opted to play it straight thats why its called acting, people and vice versa.
So when their shows are cancelled or taken off the air before they wear out their welcome (whatever, I still miss Sex and the City on Sunday nights, ok?), it can be a little bit difficult to see them slide into other TV roles easier than Lindsay Lohan checking into another rehab (Im rootin for you, girl).
Alas, sometimes that isnt always the case, which might have you asking yourself, Where are they now? In some cases for these actors, it could be taken as a query of, Where did they disappear to?
But for curiosity's (and manner's) sake,...

Troy Ruptash is more than just an often-shirtless, tattooed bad boy. He's also the vampiric villain of the new sequel 30 Days of Night: Dark Days: Agent Norris. He terrorizes his human victims, and his viewers, with a sexy and evil delivery that will hopefully keep us conflicted about turning the lights off at night. Ruptash exudes a casual dark side; he's physically intimidating but charming and funny. In short, he's dangerous. And from Vancouver. And he's our Scary Stud of the Month. Troy tells us what it's like to be a vampire while doing so many sit-ups.
Troy always looks carefully to his right, and then his left, before crossing the street.

Warning - This Post Contains Spoilers!
This past weekend SyFy presented the four-hour mini-series (and possible pilot) Riverworld, and while the reviews have not been kind, the network deserves credit for being gay inclusive ... when they didn't have to be.
Antonio and Hal ... Before.
Riverworld is about ...well ... it's complicated. But basically it involves ... okay, honestly, I'm not entirely sure what it was about. People die, and then they end up on an alien slab, dripping wet and naked (with just a flimsy piece of cloth covering their naughty bits), and then they're transported to "Riverworld," fully clothed, but as young, hot versions of themselves.
Antonio and Hal ... After.
Two of the main characters are a gay couple, Hal (Matthew MacCaull) and Antonio (Matty Finochio), who struggle to endure the violent purgatory their mysteriously find themselves in and ... almost survive.
Yes, unfortunately the two gay men don't make it to the end,...

Question: I had just finished watching Run Fatboy Run, and I was raving to my friend about how beautiful and talented I think Thandie Newton is. My friend said that Thandie is bisexual...is this true? Is she definitely bisexual?
— Lindsey, New Orleans, Louisiana
Thandie Newton
Answer: Since it's really up to the individual in question to officially label their sexual orientation, I think it's safer to say that she's "potentially" bisexual.
Actress Thandie Newton (W., Crash) is married to director Ol Parker, who made many new lesbian friends when he wrote and directed the romantic comedy Imagine Me & You (2005), starring Piper Perabo and Lena Headey.
