Warner Bros. has dropped a new trailer for ‘An American Pickle’ starring Seth Rogen ahead of its release this Friday.
Seth Rogen plays Herschel Greenbaum, a struggling labourer who immigrates to America in 1919 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present-day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is troubled to learn that his only surviving relative is his great-grandson Ben Greenbaum (also played by Seth Rogen), a mild-mannered computer coder whom Herschel can’t even begin to understand.

An American Pickle, the Seth Rogen-starring comedy that moved from Sony Pictures to HBO Max, has lined up an August 6 release date on WarnerMedia’s streaming service. WarnerMedia announced a one-two punch of HBO Max news on Monday. The upcoming streaming service has acquired the worldwide rights to the Seth Rogen-led “An American Pickle” comedy feature and WarnerMedia also completed a distribution deal with Apple to make HBO Max available on Apple devices.
HBO Max’s “An American Pickle” pickup from Sony Pictures was done to ensure the film’s release will not be delayed due to the nation’s widespread and indefinite theater closures. Though WarnerMedia plans on releasing the film, based on a short 2013 story by Simon Rich, on HBO Max in 2020, a specific release date is undetermined.
Per WarnerMedia, “An American Pickle” stars Rogen as Herschel Greenbaum, a struggling laborer who immigrates to America in 1920 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years.

Deadline has confirmed that the Seth Rogen/Point Grey Pictures comedy An American Pickle is heading to HBO Max. I’m informed that a release date for the movie is still Tbd even though the service is launching on May 27.
WarnerMedia has taken global rights to the feature which stars Rogen in dual roles from Sony. The Culver City studio was set to open the feature later this year, but they’ve moved a large number of pics on their feature slate to 2021. In the wake of exhibition’s shutdown out of safety for Covid-19, a number of smaller-mid sized films are segueing to streaming with theatrical distributors selling them off, i.e. Stx’s My Spy to Amazon, and Paramount/Mrc’s Lovebirds to Netflix.

Walk of Shame finally gets a release date, and will hit theaters and VOD on May 2nd. The Elizabeth Banks screwball comedy about the night that got away, which conveniently precedes the most important day of her life. The perfect film to label itself “outrageous,” this one has slight hints that there is more going on, but the trailer doesn’t seem too sure about giving those bits away.
We’re led to believe that we are very far into silly here, but the supporting cast makes you wonder if that can be completely true.
Take a look and see what you make of this one.

Exclusive: Andrew Niccol has cast and a title for his upcoming directorial project. He’s named the picture Good Kill, and Mad Men‘s January Jones has signed on to star as the wife of a fighter pilot-turned-drone operator. Ethan Hawke — who worked with Niccol in Gattaca and Lord Of War — is playing the pilot, Zoe Kravitz (Divergent) and Jake Abel (The Host) play members of his flight crew, and Bruce Greenwood plays his superior officer. The tension comes from the stress of battling the enemy by drone. He fights the Taliban by remote control for 12 hours a day, then goes home to the suburbs and feuds with his wife and kids for the other 12. He starts to question his mission, asking himself if he is creating more terrorists than he is killing in a war seemingly without end. Niccol wrote the script. The film began shooting at the end of last year in Morocco.
