Fresh from its launch earlier this month, Lionsgate Alternative Television is getting a little agency help.
The unscripted arm of the studio has signed with UTA for representation.
Lionsgate launched the division earlier in January, bringing together its own Pilgrim Media Group, with eOne’s U.S. and U.K. non-scripted groups, Blackfin, Renegade and Daisybeck Studios following the $375M deal to buy eOne.
It is run by Managing Director Craig Piligian, who was previously represented by WME.
All of the eOne labels will remain intact including Naked & Afraid producer Renegade, Blackfin, which produced Netflix’s Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, The Yorkshire Vet producer Daisybeck and eOne UK, which is behind MTV’s Ex On The Beach.
Lionsgate Alternative Television’s management team will include Pilgrim Media Group’s President Gretchen Stockdale and EVP Nicholas Caprio, while Renegade bosses David Garfinkle and Jay Renfroe will serve...

What does it take to make it on Naked and Afraid? The best candidates for the Discovery Channel reality series have a combination of survival skills and mental toughness that give them a good chance of lasting 21 days in the wild with no clothing, no food, and limited survival tools. It’s not a challenge for the weak, as the show’s producers explained during an early episode of the series.

Exclusive: Bobby Bones-fronted social experiment Snake In The Grass won’t be returning to USA Network.
The NBCUniversal cable network has cancelled the reality series after one season.
It comes after the broadcaster renewed Blake Shelton and Carson Daly’s Barmageddon for a second season after it became its best series premiere in nearly three years.
Snake In The Grass and Barmageddon were both part of USA Network’s latest unscripted slate, which was unveiled last May. The slate also included Race To Survive Alaska, from Deadliest Catch producer Original Productions, which is launching in April.
Snake in the Grass saw groups of four strangers who are dropped into the wild with a chance to win $100,000. In order to win, the team had to figure out which one of them is the Snake – a saboteur who is secretly undermining the group every step of the way.

Exclusive: CBS won’t be heading back into the Panamanian jungle.
Deadline understands that celebrity-competition series Beyond the Edge has been canceled after one season.
The show, which premiered in March 2022 and ran through May, followed Survivor and was in a slot that previously featured Tough as Nails and The Amazing Race, but it struggled to break out.
TV Series Cancellations 2022: Photo Gallery
The series featured nine celebrities who traded their worlds of luxury to live in the dangerous jungles of Panama for two weeks — testing whether they have the grit to withstand torrential downpours, scorching heat and deadly wildlife. There wasn’t any judges or eliminations – instead, each celebrity had to rely on their inner fortitude, physical ability and courage and have faith in their teammates to endure in the wild.
For each day they lasted and every challenge they won with their team, the celebrities raised more money for their charities.

It’s not I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here — but it sure is close. CBS on Wednesday debuted Beyond the Edge, a new reality show from Renegade (Naked and Afraid) that drops nine celebrities into the jungles of Panama to compete in challenges while earning cash for their charities (and personal pocketbooks).
Even before its debut, CBS executives privately marveled at how the show was “really killing” its participants — a rather sobering nod to the nasty elements faced by former NBC champ Metta World Peace, former NFL linebacker Ray Lewis, American Idol alum Lauren Alaina, actress Jodie Sweetin (Full House), supermodel Paulina Porizkova, former NFL player and coach Mike Singletary, country artist Craig Morgan, former Bachelor Colton Underwood and The Real Housewives of New York City’s Eboni K. Williams.

Producer Eric Schotz was getting a haircut on the morning of June 30, 2016, when his life changed.
Schotz was sitting in the barber’s chair when he got an urgent call from his son Andrew, who works at Lmno, the independent production company that Schotz headed for nearly 30 years. The FBI had arrived at the company’s Encino offices with a search warrant seeking documents in connection with an alleged embezzlement scandal that Lmno said it discovered about six months earlier involving its longtime accountant.
The raid marked a sharp escalation of a two-pronged legal battle that Schotz, 62, waged from 2016 to early 2018, with parallel lawsuits filed against the company’s former accountant, Paul Ikegami, and Discovery Communications, one of the industry’s largest buyers of unscripted programming from independent banners such as Lmno.
Discovery countersued and accused Lmno of defrauding the company through its production budgets and of keeping two sets of books.

When I first heard about the concept for "Famous in 12" (debut I thought this had to be the weirdest idea for a reality TV show ever. As odd as it is, the idea is simple: a regular family is chosen from thousands of applicants to be thrust into the reality TV spotlight with the machine that is TMZ behind them to generate buzz. The family has just 12 weeks to make a dent in the national consciousness. In a sense, it's the Loud family for the 21st century, if that first family of reality TV had known exactly what it faced -- which is now complicated by the instant feedback of the Internet and social media. I had the chance to talk to producer David Garfinkle about this attempt to test the true power of TMZ on the CW and sneak in a question about his other show -- "Naked and Afraid.

Currently titled "Face Down," the scripted series with Lionsgate ("The Hunger Games," "Nurse Jackie") follows a male make-up artist on his way to a nervous breakdown as he deals with the pressures of his wealthy and famous clients, the secrets he is privy to as a result, and his relationship problems with his ex-wife and eccentric parents.

Bravo isn't letting its recent successes slow it down, as the channel announced their new development slate, which includes eight new shows, after recently picking up 11 new shows and renewing an additional five. While you get the typical array of looks at the worlds of fashion, art, and powerful women through unscripted fare, the network will be trying a scripted show for the first time. Titled Face Down, it will center on an in demand make up artist to the stars who gets to see all that's behind the celebrity iron curtain; there's no word on whether it's an hour or half hour show, but I'm willing to bet that it'll be the type of fizzy, fun program that Bravo focuses on. Face Down was created by Liz Sagal (Sons of Anarchy, Charmed) and Stephen Kay.

“Spider Man: Turn off the Dark” is coming. Really. This fall.
Original producer David Garfinkle tells me the $45 million Julie Taymor-U2 extravaganza has its money in place. There will be announcements shortly concerning a schedule and a replacement for Evan Rachel Wood, who bowed out of the part of Mary Jane.
Garfinkle says it’s all in hand, and that Alan Cumming and Reeve Carney are still all set. “Everything is ready. We’re getting ready to make some announcements.”
“Spider Man” has been in trouble forever. Recently a Broadway investor told me the budget was up to $52 million and that it would take five years to recoup investments if the show sold out every night and the entire audience bought T shirts. Who knows? The beauty of “Spider Man” succeeding is that would put the naysayers in their places forever.

It might be lights out for "Spider-Man 4," but the lights are back on for "Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark."
The Broadway musical adaptation of the "Spider-Man" story is swinging back into action after months of being slowed down by financial woes. According to the New York Post, the show is has a new target date of Fall 2010 after it was originally slated to bow on February 25th.
The article states that "inexperience and inept" producer David Garfinkle nearly ran the project into the ground, which led to U2 frontman Bono's longtime business partner Michael Cohl stepping in and fixing the mess. But there's another partner in the mix — none other than Spider-Man's new boss.
"The financing is now in place, with a chunk coming from Disney, which recently acquired Marvel Comics," reports the site. "Cohl and Disney have sorted it all out ... Garfinkle is around in name only.

‘Spider-Man, Turn off the Dark’ the musical and brain child of Bono and the Edge from U2 is back on and due to open on Broadway this fall. The musical, the most expensive in the history of the Great White Way ,was originally set to preview at the Hilton Theater on February 25 and open in March, but is has been besieged by financial problems. However, Bono’ s business associate, Michael Cohl, has taken over from David Garfinkle and has procured the necessary finds from Disney to get the ball rolling again. Bono and along The Edge penned the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical, and it was the U2 lead singer who came up with the title, which was inspired by a story Bono heard of a child who would ask his father to "Turn off the dark" instead of "Turn on the light." Alan Cumming, who was originally...

The beleaguered production of the Broadway musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” has reportedly been pushed back to next spring.
According to The New York Times, the later-than-expected start is indeed due to the widely reported production shutdown on the project and continuing efforts to recruit new investors to come onboard the multimillion-dollar project.
Earlier this month, reports emerged that the production of “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” was back on track thanks to two new investors, Jim Stern and Norton Herrick. However, Stern told MTV News that word of his involvement was premature at best.
“Yeah, I think that it would be good if people would actually talk to me before they write that sort of thing," Stern said. "It's not really—I mean, I don't know. Whether I'm involved in it or not, I don't have any idea yet."
