- Pete Gardner was born and raised in Scarsdale, New York. In 1986, He moved to Chicago to pursue improv. He studied at ImprovOlympic with Del Close and was on a house team there for many years. Pete then joined the group ED, which led to creating Jazz Freddy in 1992 at the Live Bait Theatre where he had a vision to do more patient, theatrical improv. He later began directing at Second City. Pete is known for his portrayal of Darryl on the CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend for 4 years, but has worked on many movies and TV shows throughout the years. - Took 11 months off after graduating to travel to Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal and India, something he says he needed to do to get some life experience under his belt.
- After graduating from Scarsdale High School in 1982, he went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan before moving upstate to attend Skidmore College.
