Zombie Night (2013)
Director: John Gulager
Writers: Richard Schenkman, Keith Allan, Delondra Williams
Cast: Anthony Michael Hall (Patrick), Daryl Hannah (Birdy), Alan Ruck (Joseph), Rachel G. Fox (Tracie), Shirley Jones (Nana)
If you’ve read the cast, you might think that it’s 1986 again. It’s not, but Zombie Night could be right at home on a video store shelf represented by one of those weird videocassette boxes with no bottom. What I really love about the Asylum is that they are really comfortable about the films they make. Say what you will, but I’m still convinced that somewhere some brilliant, hyperactive kid is taking all these movies in, and in twenty years, he or she is going to direct some grindhouse and horror masterpieces of their own.
The Asylum’s films could be the muse for the next Tarantino or Rodriguez. You just never know.

*an online screener of this film was provided by The Asylum. Director: John Gulager. Writers: Richard Schenkman, Keith Allan and Delondra Williams. Cast: Anthony Michael Hall, Daryl Hannah, Alan Ruck, Rachel G. Fox, Shirley Jones and Jennifer Taylor. Zombie Night is a made for television film, which was produced by The Asylum. This reviewer is very familiar with The Asylum's work in low budget filmmaking, so one goes into one of their movies with reasonable expectations. And, Zombie Night certainly did not exceed any hopes. This title, while well shot, is developed from a fairly weak screenplay, which is almost plotless. The focus on minor characters does not really help the viewer immerse into the experience, as well. Overall, Zombie Night is a fairly ho hum affair and in a saturated zombie film market, it will soon be reburied. The story for the film can be discussed in just a few lines.

Macabro 2013, Closing Day: The Human Race Wins Best Horror Film, Resolution Cited For Best Direction
The official closing events of Macabro 2013 took place at Cineteca Nacional on Saturday, August 31. The awards ceremony preceded a screening of American Mary, the out-of-competition closing film of the festival. Although this Canadian movie is phenomenal (read here Rachel Fox's Twitch review), the evening was ultimately cold, both literally and figuratively. Thanks to rainy weather, the public attendance was considerably lower than that of other highlight events, like the inaugural showing of The Battery or the Luigi Cozzi conference. Macabro's awards ceremony consisted of only four categories, lasting no more than 10 minutes. And in the end, none of the awarded filmmakers were present to receive their honor! It was kind of disappointing, but they will get some good money and a nice...

Put away your copy of Benjamin Graham’s The Intelligent Investor. Why not plan for your retirement by taking stock advice from 16-year-old Desperate Housewives actress Rachel Fox? She was on CNBC today promoting her day-trading obsession (she’s said to have had a 30.4% return last year) and her Fox on Stocks website. “It’s such an awesome concept…I usually go on technicals,” she says. Instead of betting on companies like Apple — it’s “always swayed by someone’s opinion,” she says — Fox prefers Chinese social media company Sohu.com and Anadarko Petroleum. “I just had a great short sell the other day on Tiffany.”...

For such a young actress, Rachel G. Fox is a well-known face to television viewers. Vividly remembered as Lynette’s step-daughter Kayla on Desperate Housewives and currently as Ryder’s girlfriend on Melissa & Joey, Rachel has carved out a fantastic niche of strong-willed characters. In the the past year, Rachel has also brought her powerful talents to the big screen in such films as “Dream House” along side Daniel Craig and Naomi Watts, and the upcoming indie film “Jewtopia,” which co-stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jon Lovitz. Adding to her rapidly growing resume is the most recent episode of Private Practice, where Rachel yet again portrayed a young woman that you will not soon forget. In an exclusive interview, Rachel talked candidly about her varied career and the highlights of working on all these fantastic film and television projects.

At 15, Rachel G. Fox has already dominated the small screen and is now taking over the big screen too in Jim Sheridan's thriller 'Dream House!' You probably remember Rachel G. However, the 15-year-old performer is currently on the big screen starring in the mystery thriller Dream House alongside heavy-hitters like Daniel Craig and Naomi Watts -- and HollywoodLife.com caught up with the multi-talented actress to learn six things we never knew! She got to work alongside one of her favorites in the biz:"The director, Jim Sheridan, was an artist's dream to work with. I got along with him...

Title: Spork Director: J.B. Heck, this low-budget offering isn’t even all that original, in fact, just constructed of parts to bait one into the false feeling that it is so. ‘Spork’ centers around a frizzy-haired, small town junior high outcast (Savannah Stehlin) — so nicknamed because her absentee mother told her before splitting that she was a hermaphrodite — and her bangle-bracleted...

It's quickly becoming a full house for Universal Pictures' thriller Dream House as Rachel Fox ("Desperate Housewives") is set co-star in Jim Sheridan's flick that follows a writer and his family who have recently moved into a house and soon find out it was the site of a recent murder and that the killer may still be at large. She stars alongside Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz. Personally, I hope this film heads in a supernatural direction as the idea of another home invasion plot has my stomach churning (why not make it an exorcism movie? Joking...). I guess Universal was happy with the return on The Last House on the Left.
