There’s a moment in “Shotgun Wedding” where Jennifer Coolidge does what she does best — making a scene feel spontaneous when it’s intentional.
Coolidge plays Carol, mother of groom Tom Fowler (Josh Duhamel) who is getting married to Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) at a fancy destination wedding in the Philippines. Pirates disrupt the painfully planned ceremony, taking the wedding guests hostage to blackmail the father of the bride (Cheech Marin) into giving them a large sum of money. While the couple’s friends and family are corraled in the pool, Tom buys time by suggesting they get married right then and there.
As the hostages line up to create a wedding aisle in the pool, Carol starts belting out the opening lines of Edwin McCain’s “I’ll Be.” Director Jason Moore tells TheWrap why he picked the wedding staple.

Photo Credit: Ana Carballosa It took Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel decades to finally make a movie together, but Shotgun Wedding was worth the wait for them. Lopez told us that she and Duhamel enjoyed an easy chemistry right from the start, and that made working with him feel more like playing. As a performer, Jennifer Lopez is used to a lot of costume changes. In her new rom-com “Shotgun Wedding,” costumers had a whopping 28 versions of her wedding dress. Lopez approved Mitchell Travers’s very first sketch of the gown, which gets bruised and battered as much as her character Darcy does.
By the film’s end, the dress is definitely in no condition to be passed down.
Darcy Rivera (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom Fowler (Josh Duhamel) are putting the final touches on their destination wedding when several challenges further complicate their big day. Pirates raid the resort where they are staying and take all of their guests — family and friends who don’t always see eye to eye — hostage while the star couple tries to figure out how to get out of the life-threatening situation. Moore feels that the cast’s performances anchored the story’s heightened premise.

Josh Duhamel tried to change some aspects of his character in “Shotgun Wedding.”
“I just felt like he was so soft. You know, he was a groomzilla. He was afraid of heights. He lost his job. He didn’t feel very desirable, and I wanted to put him up a bit, but they said trust me your butch enough, just go with it,” he said. “Have fun, find the humor in it, and I did.”
Duhamel plays half of the starring duo — the groom Tom Fowler — who obsesses over details of his destination wedding to Darcy Rivera (Jennifer Lopez).
“For me, the groomzilla part was fun because I hadn’t seen that before. It is certainly not something that I personally would do. I go into a wedding and I’m like,’ You know what, it’s never going to be perfect. Be in the moment and let’s just have a great time.

Spoiler Alert! This piece contains Major spoilers for the film “Shotgun Wedding,” so turn back now if you haven’t watched it yet!
Just as the premise of “Shotgun Wedding” fuses romantic comedy and action, the ending also combines those two elements, but not without some twists and turns.
“There are a couple [twists] towards the end that I know actually surprised the audience,” director Jason Moore told TheWrap in an interview. “In our test screenings we actually asked, ‘Did you see this coming?’ and 95 of the people said no, so it’s fun to have a movie that has a couple of secrets inside of it.”
Starring Jennifer Lopez as bride Darcy Rivera and Josh Duhamel as groomzilla Tom Fowler, the film unfolds as the engaged couple welcomes their extended family and friends to the Philippines for their destination wedding. Pirates interrupt what could have been a typical ceremony, bringing stunts,...

Jennifer Lopez as Darcy Rivera and Josh Duhamel as Tom Fowler in Shotgun Wedding. Photo Credit: Ana Carballosa The new film Shotgun Wedding is a hybrid: part romantic comedy, part action movie. But Jennifer Lopez, who stars in the movie with Josh Duhamel and a large ensemble cast, doesn’t think the genre of the movie is all that important. What really matters, she says, is that it’s just a fun movie that will appeal to viewers on many levels. Josh Duhamel is opening up about how a love scene with the Prime Video rom-com “Shotgun Wedding” co-star Jennifer Lopez nearly went off the rails — simply because of his desire for fresh, minty breath.
Speaking with Variety, Duhamel revealed that he was concerned about his breath before shooting a bedroom scene, so decided to take a proactive step.
“I had gum in my mouth, and halfway through the scene, [Lopez] was like, ‘Are you chewing gum?’” Duhamel recalled.

Duhamel also shared a far less-lighthearted anecdote that took place during filming in the Dominican Republic while he took some video in a cove in which they were filming.

Jennifer Lopez has been married a few times, both in life and in the movies — most recently twice last year with her real life wedding(s) to Ben Affleck, and on screen in her delightful Valentine’s Day-timed comedy Marry Me. Both made me happy for her, but her latest, Shotgun Wedding, is something altogether different, a frenetic action comedy that never puts on the brakes. It is a wild ride no doubt, but it isn’t the kind of wedding to which I need to be invited any time soon.
So the plot is pretty predictable, especially if you have seen a whole range of movies from Romancing the Stone to last spring’s The Lost City, manic films that pair a male and female star caught in treacherous circumstances and lets them argue and snap at each other for the better part of two hours as they face...

Jennifer Lopez dazzled on the red carpet as she attended the premiere of her latest film “Shotgun Wedding” at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Wednesday.
Lopez, who stars in the rom-com as Darcy Rivera alongside Josh Duhamel’s Tom Fowler, made sure all eyes were on her as she posed for photographers in a glittering, sheer, nude dress.
The glamorous get-up included a yellow bow tied around her waist, and she teamed it with a matching yellow clutch and some dangling diamond earrings.

An official trailer for “Shotgun Wedding” has arrived.
The two-and-a-half-minute clip gives fans a glimpse of Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom’s (Josh Duhamel) untraditional destination wedding.
From Darcy’s uninvited ex ( Lenny Kravitz) showing up to an unexpected “something borrowed” gift from Tom’s mother (Jennifer Coolidge), the action-romance movie will take viewers on an adventure through the jungle.

Ever since Stan Lee tragically passed away earlier this week at the age of 95, the internet’s been flooded with tributes from fans, colleagues, admirers and more. Not a day’s gone by where we haven’t stumbled across a touching message from someone paying their respects and saying how much joy Stan brought to their life, while some companies have even gone so far as to take out a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter to show their appreciation.
But one person who doesn’t seem to care much for the legacy Stan Lee left behind is Bill Maher. The controversial television host/comedian hopped on his blog earlier this week and more or less disrespected the iconic comic book creator while also taking some shots at the industry as a whole.
“The guy who created Spider-Man and the Hulk has died, and America is in mourning,” wrote Maher.

This week I thought I’d get back to basics and, you know, actually talk about a comic book (gasp!). Being in the mood for some potentially light reading, I poked around the myriad stories that I’ve picked up and not had time to read yet, and happened upon the first Tpb for Quantum and Woody! The World’s Worst Superhero Team (the Valiant Comics 2013-2014 version). One look at the title and the cover (one tough-looking costumed superhero, one completely douchey-looking frat boy type superhero, and… a goat?) and I knew I’d probably at least not be bored.
And boy, was I right about that. I’m trying to think of a way to sum up what I just read, and I feel like, “This book is so wrong it’s right” might just about cover it. The premise – about two estranged brothers who end up reuniting...

Venom #10-#13, #13.1-#13.4, & #14
Written by Rick Remender, Rob Williams, & Jeff Parker
Art by Lan Medina, Tony Moore, Lee Garbet, Sana Takeda, Julian Tedesco, Nelson Decastro, & Terry Pallot
Published by Marvel Comics
Continuing from his first story arc as well as being tied up in the “Spider-Island” event, Flash Thompson a.k.a. Agent Venom returns in the highly enjoyable “Circle of Four”.
“Circle of Four” is itself a bit of a strange beast as it’s actually two separate storylines combined together. The first arc is “Road Trip”. While coping with the death of his father, Flash is blackmailed by the sinister Crime Master to head to Las Vegas and retrieve something for him. To make matters worse, Captain America arrives intending to shut down Project Rebirth 2.0 and take the symbiote suit away from Flash. With no options, Flash must steal the Venom costume to save his friends and family...

Venom #1-#5
Written by Rick Remender
Art by Tony Moore & Tom Fowler
Published by Marvel Comics
Rick Remender’s Venom series stands as one of the most fascinating concepts for a superhero story. That is to say, if reading a book about a definitive 90’s Spider-Man villain dressed to look like a pre-order exclusive for the next Call of Duty sounds like a complete waste of time, good news because this book would agree. What makes Venom such a bizarre series is that while everything from its story to artwork tries to emulate a grim and gritty dark age feel, its central character and themes are in direct contradiction to that entire era of comics.
The story follows Agent Venom, a highly classified spec ops commando working for the United States military as part of a, once again, revived attempt at Project Rebirth, who runs afoul of the ruthless arms...
