Kim Flagg was born in Cincinnati, spent her wonderbread years in
Birmingham, Michigan and finished high school in Omaha, Nebraska. She
got her degree in Film and Television from Southern Methodist
University (SMU). She started her Los Angeles career in 1981 as a
pioneering producer in the new field of computer generated imagery
where she created special effects for feature films and commercials. As
a writer, designer, producer and video editor, she has been involved
over the past twenty years in many aspects of production in
entertainment, commercial and corporate communications. Kim has become
known for applying her comedy talents to all the above arenas. After
winning several awards for her corporate video productions in the
automotive industry, Kim went on to write and produced comedy radio
spots and numerous primetime network promos for ABC and Warner Bros.
Kim has been associated with ABC's "Home Improvement" from its
conception and pilot, through the entire eight-year run of the show.
Starting as Program Consultant, she joined the writing staff as a
writer and Story Editor through its final season.
She has professionally collaborated with Tim Allen over the past fifteen years working as his ghostwriter, head comedy writer and speechwriter. She has developed and written a wide array of material for Tim including his stand-up comedy, award show appearances, public engagements, hosting events, press releases and his numerous talk show appearances including The Tonight Show, Letterman, Regis, Rosie, and opening comedy sketches for Oprah and The Montreal Comedy Festival. She collaborated with Tim on his two books, "Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man" and "I'm Not Really Here," and developed two sitcom pilots while heading up television development for his company, Boxing Cat Productions. In addition to writing and punch-up work for numerous other performers, Kim has also written for Universal on the film, "For Richer or Poorer"; headed up the creative writing team for Comedy Central's "Small Doses"; and has performed re-writes and punch up for Fox's "Joe Somebody" and Disney's "The Santa Clause 2", both during pre-production as well as working with the directors and talent on location. Kim has been published in numerous magazines, and directed and co-wrote "Life on Mars", a One-Man Comedy Musical that was performed at the HBO Work Space. She is currently in development on a one-man multi-media theatrical stage show for Mr. Allen.
She has recently received great accolades for creating the "Greatest Moments" nostalgic montage video from the beloved sitcom, "I Love Lucy" which can be seen throughout America on the big screen in the "50th Anniversary Tour of I Love Lucy" traveling show.
Her most recent writing credit appeared on the ABC primetime special "The User's Guide to Home Improvement". Not only is Kim a graphic designer, a musician and composer, she has also performed stand-up comedy at The Comedy Store and comedy improvisation with The Groundlings in Los Angeles, and was a recent guest speaker at the Montreal Comedy Festival.
