Updated May 24 at 7:31 a.m. Pt with “Code Black” canceled by CBS.
Is “Ghosted” coming back?
That’s a question on viewers’ minds as upfronts week comes to a close, with Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS and The CW all having announced their fall programming schedules as of Thursday. ‘Cause some of those slates have holes in them, meaning the statuses of almost half a dozen shows on broadcast television are still up in the air.
Look, we can accept the fact that not every series will be saved like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” — not every show should be. But come on, networks — minus ABC and The CW, who have already killed or renewed everything they’re going to — fans need to hear one way or another whether their favorite programs will be returning this fall, especially for ones that have a crazy-devoted fanbase.

“La To Vegas” has been canceled at Fox after one season.
The single-camera comedy set aboard the fictional Jackpot Airlines weekend Los Angeles to Las Vegas flights will not be seeing a return trip for the 2018-19 television season. The first season, which launched in early 2018, drew an average of 2.3 million viewers and a 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demo.
Series star Amir Talai announced the cancellation on his Twitter account Monday night, writing, “I love you so much #LAtoVegas fans. That’s why it breaks my heart to tell you that our show is not coming back. I don’t have an explanation for you, but it doesn’t actually matter. It’s done. I’m gonna miss our #LAtoVegas family so much, and that includes you.”
He followed it up with a Tweet that said, “God I’m just really really sad,” followed by the show’s hashtag.

Looks like “La to Vegas” won’t be taking off on Fox’s fall 2018-19 slate after all. The network has officially canceled the Dylan McDermott-led series after just one season.
An individual with knowledge of the decision tells TheWrap that, while the network was “proud of the show,” with the addition of “Thursday Night Football,” as well as new comedies on Fridays and Sundays, and the large amount of returning shows next season, Fox’s schedule couldn’t accommodate a second season of the Will Ferrell and Adam McKay-produced comedy.
Along with McDermott, the cast of “La to Vegas” includes Kim Matula, Ed Weeks, Nathan Lee Graham, Olivia Macklin and Peter Stormare.

Fox’s single-camera airplane comedy series La To Vegas has been permanently grounded as the network has opted not to renew it for a second season.
As Deadline exclusively reported last week, Fox had been looking to get La to Vegas executive producer Will Ferrell to appear in the Season 2 premiere in order to create buzz around the comedy’s return. I hear Ferrell was open to possibly guest starring in an episode next season but would not commit to doing the Season 2 opener. While not the crucial factor, that, along with the network’s reduced shelf space because of the addition of Thursday Night Football, contributed to Fox’s decision to cancel the comedy starring Dylan McDermott.
When discussing the then-pending renewal decision on the bubble freshman comedy on Fox’s upfront call last week, the network chairman Dana Walden noted that series creator/exec producer Lon Zimmet and...

Exclusive: When discussing the pending renewal decision on bubble freshman comedy La to Vegas, the network chairman Dana Walden this morning noted that series creator/exec producer Lon Zimmet and executive producer Steve Levitan are currently working on Season 2 ideas and that “if we can’t find a way to make noise, we won’t do (a second season)” of the Dylan McDermott series.
I hear one of the top ideas that is being considered to create buzz around La to Vegas‘s potential return is have series executive producer Will Ferrell appear in the Season 2 premiere.
Ferrell and McDermott previously starred together in the 2012 comedy feature The Campaign.
The move echoes Great News executive producer Tina Fey’s commitment to guest star in the opening Season 2 episodes, which last May helped secure the then-bubble midseason comedy a second-season renewal by NBC.

Two more adaptations have been added to the list of TV series based on films. EW can confirm that a script has been ordered by The CW for a show based on the 2006 film The Illusionist, which starred Ed Norton as the titular character. The project is being written by Mark Hudis and executive produced by Ben Silverman and Bob Yari. The show comes from CBS Television Studios, Electus, and the Yari Film Group. The TV adaptation would transplant the film from its Vienna locale to turn-of-the-20th-century New York, where a renowned illusionist has returned to his home after a 10-year stint in prison.

ABC has nabbed single-camera half-hour project Sneaky People, from director Jason Winer, writers Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener and 20th Century Fox TV with a script commitment plus a significant penalty. Sneaky People is described as an unconventional workplace comedy about a dysfunctional family of skilled liars that run a private investigation agency out of their house in Venice. The title has a double meaning. “They’re catching people, and in their world they are also lying about stuff,” Bycel said about the family at the center of the show, which consists of a father, an adult daughter (around 30) and two younger siblings. The inspiration for the show came from Winer whose mom worked as a private investigator when he was in high school, handling mostly insurance fraud cases.

Executive producer is Jaffe/Braunstein Entertainment's Howard Braunstein ("The Memory Keeper's Daughter").
The original private detective series, starring actors Mike Pratt and Kenneth Cope as 'Jeff Randall' and 'Marty Hopkirk', was created by Dennis Spooner for producer Monty Berman.
In the initial episode Hopkirk was killed in the line of duty, but returned as a ghost that only Randall was able to see or hear to help his former partner fight crime from beyond the grave.

Producer Howard Gordon tells The Hollywood Reporter that Jack Bauer will meet an unhappy ending at the end of the series on May 24th.
Gordon says the final scene "leaves him in a compromised place morally, ethically and emotionally. This show is a tragedy, and to give Jack a happy ending didn't feel authentic."
As for the movie, Gordon says only that the writers are "taking him to a place he's never been before."
Lost
No less than three alternate endings that were shot for the upcoming series finale of "Lost" will be aired during the post-show Jimmy Kimmel special reports Gather.com. Details on any of the endings is top secret for now.

It looks like Syfy is continuing its programming friendship with various studios over in the U.K. However, rather than acquiring a recent show like the currently running 'Merlin,' the network is pulling from Britain's vast television past.
According to a press release, Syfy has acquired the rights to the popular '60s British detective series 'Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)' for development as a 60-minute scripted pilot. Originally produced by Itc -- the same company that produced such cult series as 'The Prisoner' and 'The Saint' -- 'Randall and Hopkirk' was the story of a murdered detective (Hopkirk) who came back as a ghost that only his former partner, Randall, could see. A total of 26 episodes of the series aired between 1969 and 1970.
The new version of the series will be written and executive produced by Josh Bycel ('Scrubs') and Jonathan Fener ('American...
