For 45 years stars from TV, Film, Music and Sports along with community members have come together to show support for the men and women who protect and serve Los Angeles.
On September 10, 2017 they will join together again to help raise funds for the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation at Avalon Hollywood.
Proceeds from this event benefit Lapd employees and their immediate family members, who have experienced unforeseen catastrophic circumstances, including death, illness and injury. The Memorial Foundation is the cornerstone of the Los Angeles Police Departments employee wellness program and has granted over $17 million dollars without any direct taxpayer money. The Foundation takes care of the widows and orphans of Officers killed in the line of duty when they may not have any other means. The Foundation helps ensure the children of Officers killed have the funds available to go to college, and helps with medical costs and other life necessities.

Wasn't easy to whittle this list down to 10, let alone 11, so I picked 12 for 12-12-12. A few of these selections were last minute additions that knocked two other picks out of top spots. Moreover, I decided to include twelve more picks at the end of my selections to show what else was being considered.
Nada Surf The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy (Barsuk)
I've not seen this album on any critics' year-end lists (aside from my managing editor Steve's list, obviously). Not sure why, because Nada Surf released a timeless collection of alt pop-rock songs. This is songwriting 101 -- verse, chorus, verse, bridge. If there is a better pop-rock band in America, let me know. Twenty years in and no sign of lazy rock star bullshit, just plenty of great chiming guitar riffs and hooky-as-hell tunes. Album of the year.

The movie title "The Comedy" is a bit of a subterfuge. While the movie is led by "Tim & Eric" comedian Tim Heidecker, and features his buddy Eric Wareheim, LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy and more, the movie itself is more of a deconstruction of the genre and perhaps of a lifestyle. Taking irony and provocoative humor to task, the movie is a challenging look at one man adrift as he contemplates his future. And the soundtrack is appropriately moody. You won't find any of these on a top 40 playlist as the sixteen track collection -- which also features dialogue cuts from the movie -- includes indie rockers Here We Go Magic, two cuts from English singer/songwriter Bill Fay, two excerpts from avant garde legend William Basinski's famed "Disintegration Loops," hipster-approved soul act Gayngs, and a tune from recently rediscovered yacht rock duo Donnie & Joe Emerson and even more.

Filming for the second installment, which stars Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson is currently underway and thanks to Spanish site Tumba Abierta fans can get a glimpse of it's set. The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk ("The Town"), who also produced the previous "Clash of the Titans," and Polly Cohen Johnsen ("Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore"). The executive producers are Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, William Fay, Callum McDougall, Kevin De La Noy and Louis Leterrier. A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus—the demigod son of Zeus—is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. A good comedy sequel is really hard to come by. In fact, I can only name a couple (Christmas Vacation and Back to the Future II, if anyone was wondering). While I am sure there are more out there, these are the first two that pop into my mind. From the get go, I knew a second Hangover would be tricky. How can you maintain the momentum and surprise of the first film when you already know the characters and basic plot?
Do the exact same thing that worked last time, apparently.
It is almost grossly apparent how similar The Hangover and The Hangover II are. Todd Phillips basically placed the three leads in Bangkok, randomly destroyed their faces, and gave them a monkey for good measure. That said, I'm not complaining. I found the trailer to be hilarious, and it seems the whole gang is once again back having fun.

If you enjoyed Clash of the Titans, the remake not the original, then Jonathan Liebesman’s sequel – Clash of the Titans 2 – is now officially under way and being filmed. James Franco and Javier Bardem may not have joined the cast as originally touted but British thesp Bill Nighy as along with Danny Huston definitely have. We’re not sure why Wrath of the Titans has been replaced with the generic Clash 2, but it’s rubbish anyway.
Below is the full press release plus a synopsis and you might as well know it’s another post-conversion 3D job. Boo sucks to that!

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures has recently announced that production has officially started for for Clash of the Titans 2. Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson are all back to reprise their roles. We reported earlier that the sequel to Clash of the Titans would be Wrath of the Titans, but that new title is no where to be seen in this press release, so maybe they haven't settled on an official name yet.
I wish I could be more excited about this sequel, but the first film was so bad I honestly have no desire to watch this one. What do you think?
Here's the full synopsis for the film:
A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus—the demigod son of Zeus—is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius.

Just last week, we told you about Warner Bros. Pictures and their apparent fear of putting their Gods in the forthcoming sequel to Clash of the Titans up against Lionsgate’s big-screen adaptation of The Hunger Games and moving the release date for Wrath of the Titans, directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Odysseus) from March 23rd to March 30th, 2012.
Now, we have the official press release announcing the start of principal photography, and something interesting I noticed is the fact that the press release is still calling it Clash of the Titans 2, rather than the Wrath of the Titans, which was confirmed as the title by actor Liam Neeson back in December. Has the studio changed their mind on the title, or do they still think it’s a secret?
Check out the press release below for all the details.

It was one year ago a group of excited journalists traveled to Vancouver to visit the set of Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch. This is Zack's first original film that isn't based off of a previous work, so it'll be interesting to see how the director handles his own original material. Details on Zack Snyder’s latest action-fest have been few and far between while Warner Brothers promote the owl flick Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, but now Snyder’s animation début is behind us the iron curtain is starting to lift.

This will be the first of Zack Snyder’s films that has been written by the rising director and being set partially in the imagination of a character will certainly allow him try any number of crazy slow motion battles. Bring on the giant samurai!

Warner Bros. has revealed the official plot synopsis for the upcoming action fantasy film Sucker Punch.
Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary…with potentially tragic consequences.
Born from the creative vision of filmmaker Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), Sucker Punch features an ensemble cast of young stars, including Emily Browning (The Uninvited), Abbie Cornish (Bright Star), Jena Malone (Into the Wild), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) and Jamie Chung (Sorority Row). When you hear the name Zack Snyder now it seems as if everyone instantly thinks of his new gig as the Superman director. While this may be true, we cannot immediately forget his latest film endeavor, his action fantasy flick, Sucker Punch, a movie that I am extremely excited about.
Since the debut of the trailer we have seen tons of images and a bit of concept art. Well after about three months of silence regarding the topic at hand, Warner Bros. have finally released the official synopsis for Snyder’s latest film. You can check it out below along with the trailer if you haven’t already seen it.

Warner Bros. has revealed the official plot synopsis for Zack Snyder's insane looking action film Sucker Punch. Now we've seen an awesome trailer, and poster art for the film, but we still only had a basic idea of what the film is about. Personally, I think this movie looks incredible. It has everything that geeks love: hot girls with guns, mech warriors, dragons, war, epic battle sequences and a ton of ass kicking! Here are the full details for the film.

I'm so excited for this film! "Clash of the Titans" is one of my childhood touchstones and although there's a part of me that doesn't want it remade, I'm looking forward to seeing Director Louis Letterier's ("The Incredible Hulk") vision!
Look at all the exciting news about casting news we broke here, and here.
And here's more "Clash of the Titans" shooting day info from our pals at IGN:
Based on the 1981 film of the same name, written by the late Beverley Cross, Clash of the Titans is directed by Louis Leterrier from a screenplay by Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi (Aeon Flux), story by Travis Beacham (Dog Days of Summer) and Hay & Manfredi. The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk, who produced the drama We Are Marshall for Warner Bros. Pictures, and Kevin De La Noy, who last served as an executive producer on the studio's blockbuster The Dark Knight.
