The first full song from the upcoming Moana 2, “Beyond,” has been released!

Star Auli’i Cravalho belts out the end credits version of the new song, which will be featured in the Disney sequel.

The track was written by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, and “encapsulates Moana’s fearless sense of adventure and connecting her island beyond its shores.”

“’Beyond’ really impacted me as someone who feels deeply connected to my culture,” Auli’i shared in a statement. “It’s about going beyond what you’re capable of, beyond your comfort zone, and not doing it just for yourself, doing it for your people.”

Grab your boat snacks, it’s time to head back out on an ocean voyage with “Moana 2.” And there’s a lot to know before setting sail.

“Moana” has become a fan-favorite from Disney, coming in as the most streamed film of 2023 and earning a spot in the Disney parks, with The Journey of Water Inspired by “Moana” in Epcot. The sequel to the 2016 hit was first announced back in February, originally as a Disney+ series.

But as it was developed, the story got repurposed into a feature film. It’ll take place a few years after the original movie, bringing fans on a whole new adventure.

Lead stars Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson were on hand to get fans in the building excited about the sequel, with the former wowing the audience with a live performance of one of the movie's new songs, "We’re Back."

Meanwhile, dancers and drummers from Nonosina Polynesia under the direction of Tiana Liufau - who contributed animation reference choreography to Moana and this follow-up - and Johnson led the audience in a rousing "chee hoo!" chant (that can also be seen below).

Our Flag Means Death has officially “reached the end of the road,” Series creator David Jenkins has revealed on Instagram that the period comedy has failed to find a new home following its cancellation on Max in January after two seasons.

“I can officially confirm that we’ve reached the end of the road,” Jenkins wrote. “At least as far as this sweet show is concerned. After many complimentary meetings, conversations, etc it seems there is no alternate home for our crew. Thank you to all of you who sent us out with tremendous love and care. Your campaign was noticed across the industry. But more importantly it made all of us who worked on this show better able to deal with the loss.”

Jenkins continued. “To you wonderful fans: thank you. You are lovely and earnest. Those kinds of things feel in short supply at times. But they aren’t.

Two of HBO and Max’s biggest dramas have welcomed new cast members this past week.

First, the Emmy-nominated post-apocalyptic survival drama “The Last of Us” announced “Dopesick” star Kaitlyn Dever will be joining the show’s second season, based on the sequel video game in Naughty Dog’s “Last of Us” franchise. Dever will play new co-lead Abby, “a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved.”

Emmy nominee Young Mazino (“Beef”) will also join Season 2 as Jesse, “a pillar of his community who puts everyone else’s needs before his own, sometimes at [a] terrible cost.”

One can’t say that writer-director Taika Waititi doesn’t do an efficient job at telling us just what kind of experience Next Goal Wins is going to be right from the outset. After all the studio logos, the very first image we see is of Taika himself, playing an American Samoan priest, explains to the audience the tale of the most embarrassing defeat ever to occur on a soccer pitch: a match from April 11, 2001 when Australia beat American Samoa 31-0.

The footage of that match starts both Waititi’s film and the 2014 documentary of the same name by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison that it’s based on. And it’s a perfect way to kick-start a movie about a bunch of loveable losers struggling for the meager goal of scoring a single point in literally any game. Ahead of the theatrical debut of Taika Waititi “Next Goal Wins” this weekend, Searchlight Pictures and the lifestyle brand Accompany have released a limited-edition, artisan capsule collection for soccer players, consisting of a handmade soccer ball and athletic socks.
