Meta is shutting down its Facebook Watch original programming, a company spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter, leaving the future of shows like Red Table Talk in limbo as production company Westbrook Studios shops around the talk show for a new home.
The shuttering of the Facebook Watch originals division, first reported by Deadline, comes as Meta implements wide-ranging cost cuts across the company, with the most recent including a round of layoffs that is expected to impact 10,000 employees. Included in the cuts is Mina Lefevre, the former MTV executive who led development and original programming for Facebook Watch.
One of Facebook Watch’s most well-known shows was Red Table Talk, the talk show co-hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris. The series had five seasons on Facebook Watch and led to a spinoff series, Red Table Talk: The Estefans, with Gloria Estefan, Emily Estefan and Lili Estefan.

SEESee all soap opera stars who won Best Actress at the Daytime Emmys
The Daytime Emmys honor the best in television programming that airs during the day, but that distinction is not as simple as it used to be. We’re in an era when streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime deliver programming that can be viewed at any time of day, some of which conforms more closely to the kinds of shows that air in prime time, and others that correspond to the usual daytime fare.

The 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards made their in-person return on Friday, for the first time since 2019.
And among the night’s big winners, Mishael Morgan achieved an important but grossly overdue milestone, becoming the first Black actress to win Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series for her work on “The Young and The Restless.”
But generally, “General Hospital” was the night’s biggest winner, taking home the Emmys Outstanding Daytime Drama, Outstanding Supporting actress, Outstanding Supporting actor, Outstanding Younger Performer, and Outstanding Directing Team, for a total of 5.
Kelly Clarkson was the night’s second biggest winner, taking home Emmys for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and for Talk Show Host in the same genre.
The ceremony, which aired on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+, was filmed at the Pasadena Civic Center in Pasadena, Calif., and hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner.

Facebook Watch has greenlit talk show “Face to Face With Becky G” starring the global singer, actor and activist.
On the weekly show, slated to premiere sometime next month on Facebook Watch, Becky G will invite her favorite artists, celebrities and friends for “unfiltered” conversations that cover issues relevant to her generation, the Latino community and beyond, according to Facebook.
Facebook is hoping the new show will draft off Becky G’s social footprint: She has 18 million followers on Facebook.
“Staying connected to mi gente and our cultures is incredibly important to me,” Becky G said in a statement. “My new talk show on Facebook Watch will take this engagement to a whole new level — where we’ll discuss the issues that really matter to us and our communities, have great guests and of course, invite everyone to the conversation.”

Updated: The emotional tete-a-tete between Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith on Facebook Watch’s “Red Table Talk” drew a huge audience in its first 24 hours of release, although it’s not clear at this point if that set a record as the social site’s most-viewed original episode in that time period.
Within 24 hours after it was posted Friday at noon Pt, the 12-minute segment, titled “Jada Brings Herself to the Table,” had been viewed more than 15.4 million times. That’s according to Facebook’s public counter that tabulates a view if it has been watched for at least 3 seconds.

Facebook Watch is extending — and expanding — its flagship original series, Red Table Talk, headlined and executive produced by Jada Pinkett Smith. Facebook has signed a new three-year deal with Pinkett Smith and Westbrook Studios, her company with Will Smith. The pact will keep the popular Daytime Emmy-nominated talk show exclusively on the platform with new episodes streaming through 2022, featuring Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and mother Adrienne Banfield Norris.
Additionally, Facebook Watch is turning Red Table Talk into a franchise with the green light of a second series from Pinkett Smith and Westbrook Studios. Set in Miami, Red Table Talk: The Estefans, features music icon Gloria Estefan, her daughter and rising musician Emily Estefan and her niece and Daytime Emmy Award-winning TV host Lili Estefan. Like the mothership program, the offshoot will feature the three women of different generations discussing social and personal issues with family, celebrity guests and experts.

Washington, D.C., United States (Ahn Entertainment) - Music Producer Emilio Estefan and actress Eva Longoria were among a group of Hispanic stars who joined President Barack Obama to discuss immigration reform.
Those invited to the White House Thursday include actresses America Ferrera and Rosario Dawson, "Sabado Gigante" host Don Francisco, television personality Lili Estefan and other Latin journalists for a discussion on Obama's goal of fixing what he calls a broken immigration system," reports the Los Angeles Times.
