Its a shame that during the early 1980s this newcomer had arrived on the comedy circuit. There were a new wave of very funny comedians at this time, And because Benny Hill was highly popular in Britain, Not just in Britain but throughout the World in fact, Ben Elton decided to slag off Benny Hill on British TV interviews. I was and still am a Benny Hill fan. And there are many others alike. This prick decided that his comedy was better than his and so he bitched about him, Obviously jealous of him being so famous. But this was something not any comedian would do to others. This really did upset Benny. And this is stated in his biographies that it was in fact Ben Elton that killed him. Not long after, during the mid 80s it was rumoured that Benny Hills's work was smutty and not up to tv standards for Thames Television. The meeting with the directors unfortuntely did not last long at all, Benny Hill was sacked immediately. The final Benny Hill show was made in America. Benny Hill in New York. But for those British/Overseas viewers something I found that was only shown once in Britain and edited was Benny Hill Down Under (Uncut), One funny sketch that springs to mind was a camp Benny Hill in front of the Opera House in Sydney Australia, Ready on camera to talk about the building and its architecture. The camera rolls and he talks of this beautiful piece of Australian work, He moves across to his right slightly and behind him is a sign that says "Made In Japan" absolute classic sketches. Only Benny Hill could do this. He was funny witty and is still a comedian sadly missed. Ever since I saw Ben Elton on tv after Benny Hills sacking in the 80s and knowing of the news of what happened I wanted to wring his bloody neck.
