Last year’s R.L. Stine-based Disney+ series “Goosebumps” will return for Season 2, we’ve learned this weekend, but the cast and setting will be switched up this time around.
Variety reports, “The announcement was made during the Disney Branded Television presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. As part of the announcement, it was also revealed that the second season would be eight episodes compared to the 10-episode first season, and that the show is going the anthology route. Thus, Season 2 will feature an entirely new cast and setting based on R.L. Stine’s iconic Scholastic book series.”
“Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series’ chills, thrills, heart and humor, making it one of Disney Branded Television’s most-watched shows of last year,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. “We can’t wait to dive deeper into the brilliant mind of R.L.

Note: The following story contains spoilers from “Goosebumps” episode 9.
Legendary “Goosebumps” author R.L. Stine first graced the screen of one of his adaptations during a cameo in the 2015 Jack Black-led film — and he is continuing the trend in the new Disney+ and Hulu series.
“He did a cameo in the movie and [we] got to know him and he’s so much fun, and we just wanted to do that [again],” creator Rob Letterman told TheWrap, referencing a brief moment when Stine says hello to Black at the end of the movie. “He gave his blessing for us to do the show, but it’s also just fun to incorporate him in.”
Stine’s cameo in the ninth installment of the 10-episode freshman season comes amidst a twist in the “Goosebumps” story, as the teens and parents believe their problems have been solved after the ghost of Harold Biddle finds peace.

Long will play Nathan Bratt, said to be “the new schoolteacher who develops a terrifying connection to a decades-old supernatural murder.”

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will not return for an eighth season.
It marks the end of a long road for the series, which premiered in 2016.
While The CW is known for giving its longer-running series a proper goodbye, this season of Legends ended on a cliffhanger. Sources, however, pointed out that the characters can easily populate other series in the DC Arrowverse so you may see one or two of them in other shows.

So, we’ve gone a little longer than we like to without a Legends of Tomorrow episode. Which of course raises the question of: when is the new episode of Legends of Tomorrow finally gonna get here? Good news, folks, we don’t have to wait much longer.
The next episode of Legends of Tomorrow is called “The Final Frame.” Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of the CW…
“When the Legends track down another Alien pod, they find a device that transports them to a cosmic bowling alley. Before consulting Sara (Caity Lotz), Astra (Olivia Swann) and Rory (Dominic Purcell), Spooner (Lisseth Chavez) makes a bet against the reigning champs for a ride back to the Waverider, but not everyone is happy about the plan when they realize what they are up against. Elsewhere, Nate (Nick Zano) plans a romantic date for him and Zari (Tala Ashe), but nothing goes as planned.

Matt Ryan, who has played John Constantine on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow since Season 3, will be wrapping up his arc as the DC antihero in the current sixth season, but Ryan is not going anywhere.
At the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel Sunday, executive producer/co-showrunner Phil Klemmer revealed that Ryan will be back as a series regular in Season 7 as a new character, Dr. Gwyn Davies, an eccentric scientist from the early 20th century who might be the team’s only hope next season.
Also in season 7, series regular voiceover cast member Amy Louise Pemberton, who has voiced Gideon, the Waverider’s AI, for all six seasons and has appeared as the AI’s physical form a handful of times, will now portray a flesh-and-blood version of Gideon in the real world, also as a series regular.

This article contains Legends of Tomorrow spoilers. Don’t read if you haven’t seen “The One Where We’re Trapped on TV.”
Legends of Tomorrow has always stood out as one of the most ambitious series in the Arrowverse, but this week the show takes that to the extreme. “The One Where We’re Trapped on TV” takes the Waverider crew and throws them into a dystopian future known as Loom World where the Sisters of Fate rule all and for some reason our heroes are all stars of their own takes on TV shows like Friends, Star Trek, Downton Abbey, and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
Written by Grainne Godfree and James Eagan, “The One Where We’re Trapped on TV” is definitely a season highlight with a bunch of stunning reveals and big character moments. Plus, the set up is a ridiculously funny way of pushing through to the...

Production on all of The CW’s Arrowverse shows is now underway. Arrow‘s Stephen Amell has teased that he’s been shooting some exciting material for the show’s eighth and final season. The Flash set photos reveal the return of a popular villain. And Supergirl’s going to get herself a new suit when she returns.
Now, however, we have our first hint at the next run of Legends of Tomorrow. Specifically, we’ve learned the title of the season 5 premiere. Exec producer Keto Shimizu shared a look at the first page of the episode’s script on social media to mark filming beginning on Legends‘s new season this past Monday (July 15th). In an age when people are far too used to blasting through entire seasons (or series) in a weekend, it’s a pleasure to celebrate the concept of the great episode: a concise bite of storytelling that functions as its own narrative as well as a part of a larger whole.
Last year’s list was 25 episodes, but expanding this list to 30 became necessary given the incredible scope of television to be considered — across all platforms, there was too much to celebrate. Some of the series below represent the year’s most significant programs, while others may not have made IndieWire’s best-of lists, but deserved recognition for what they achieved within individual installments. From soul-deep despair to giggle-inducing joy, the range of TV in 2018 covered all corners of the human existence.

Seeing as how it’s a time traveling show, you could say that no character is off limits for Legends of Tomorrow. Obviously, this extends to the dead, so we’ll just refer you to a guy named Captain Cold if you’re in need of a reminder.
Of course, one would assume that the Amaya Jiwe iteration of Vixen would still be on the table, but bringing her back at this point would contradict her recently concluded character arc. If you’ll recall, she returned to her native period in order to live out her life and assure that her successor and granddaughter, Mari McCabe, comes into existence.
Still, the producers aren’t ready to let actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers go, as she’ll play a new character named Charlie in season 4. In fact, you can see her first outing in the gallery circulating in advance of next week’s episode,...

Although a portion of the Arrowverse is unfortunately on hiatus yet again for the time being, the truth of the matter is that we’re about to begin the final stretch of episodes for the season, so now is the time to get excited. In fact, Legends of Tomorrow will be wrapping up things a little bit earlier because, don’t forget, it tends to enjoy shorter seasons than that of its sister shows. Still, there’s a tad more of Arrow for us to look forward to, which we’ll touch on momentarily.
First, let’s discuss Legends of Tomorrow, which has thankfully been able to continue on without any interruption in recent memory.

If anything, the season finale of Legends of Tomorrow will be a star-studded affair, to say the least. I mean, not only will we bear witness to the returns of both Jonah Hex and Jefferson Jackson, but none other than John Constantine will be putting in an appearance as well!
Already, we’ve seen the charismatic demonologist turn in a memorable guest shot in the recently aired midseason premiere, sharing his words of wisdom and having a surprise “shag” with Sara Lance in the process. All things considered, it made for what I felt to be this season’s finest episode thus far.
Now, it’s since been revealed that Constantine will return for episode 3×15 in a matter of weeks, but it’s all the more comforting to hear that the folks over at ComicBook.com having been able to confirm with Warner Bros. that he’ll be included in the season finale as well,...

If we as superhero fans have learned anything, it’s that the lives of the characters we love are never easy. Take Ray Palmer, for instance: On last night’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow, “The Curse of the Earth Totem,” he showed heart by saving the life of Nora Darhk – only to get captured in the process. Go figure!
To further complicate matters, Damien Darhk and company are now in the wind with several Totems, even though the Waverider crew now have the Earth one in their possession. Still, the next few weeks will see a mad dash made by both sides as the other elusive artifacts are to be discovered.
On the plus side, though, the search for Ray may not be as strenuous as when he turns up missing in the comics. In those cases, various DC heroes have to brave the microverse, but we imagine this...

Ash vs Evil Dead, Season 1, Episode 4, “Brujo
Written by James E. Eagan
Directed by David Frazee
Airs Saturdays at 9pm (Et) on Starz
Ash vs Evil Dead has adopted a “road movie” aesthetic to its weekly routine, having our heroes travel from one location to the next in their quest to vanquish evil. But a side-effect of this format is that each week the audience is more or less treated to a bottle episode. The characters are stuck in one location, then the next episode comes along and they’re stuck at another. This week’s episode, “Brujo”, successfully breaks the mold by having everyone stay in one place while also sending Ash on a wild trip.
Pablo (Ray Santiago) brings Ash (Bruce Campbell) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) to see his uncle (Hemky Madera), the Brujo of the title. The heroes first outrun a huge dust cloud of death — perhaps...

Now that James Eagan Holmes is sitting in a jail cell awaiting his day in court, those left in the aftermath of the July theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., are trying to sort out who might else be to blame. And for some of the victims, the fingers for the secondary blame is being pointed squarely at Cinemark. Two new lawsuits have been filed by Denise Traynom, Brandon Axelrod and Joshua Nowlan claim that the theater chain could have done more to prevent Holmes from allegedly entering Theater 9 at Cinemark's Aurora location multiple times and killing 12 people and wounding 58 others. The separate lawsuits claim that Holmes was able to use a rear exit to the theater to haul in ammunition and that there were no alarms, no security and no employees around to try and slow him down or even ...

Aurora, Colo. -- Family members of some of the 12 people shot to death during a midnight movie showing in Colorado plan to go public Tuesday about some behind-the-scenes events they say need to be discussed.
The families have not said what those events were. They said in a statement that they would "speak with one voice" for the benefit of all the victims.
Anita Busch, a spokeswoman for the group, declined to elaborate on the topics.
Busch said she expects the families of most of the 12 people killed in the shootings to be represented.
The suspect in the July 20 shootings, 24-year-old James Eagan Holmes, faces charges of murder and attempted murder.
Police say Holmes was heavily armed and wearing body armor and a gas mask when he opened fire on the audience in a packed theater in the Denver suburb of Aurora during a showing of the latest Batman movie.

James Eagan Holmes, the 24-year-old accused of killing 12 people and injuring 58 others during a mass shooting at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colo., was charged with 24 counts of first-degree murder on Monday during his second court appearance, according to MTV News.

James Eagan Holmes, who allegedly killed 12 and wounded 58 others at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colorado Friday morning, made his first appearance in court Monday, according to MTV News.
In a Centennial, Colorado courtroom, the 24-year-old suspected shooter wore a maroon prison jumpsuit with his hair dyed bright red and looked "dazed" with his eyes cast down and "blinking erratically at times."
Holmes did not speak during the hearing, unlike many in similar situations, according to a court expert on CNN. Eighteenth Judicial District Chief William Sylvester ruled that there is probable cause to hold Holmes without bond on a first degree murder charge until more charges are filed next week.
Though formal charges are generally filed within 72 hours, extra time is being allowed for further investigation, and the charging is pushed back until next Monday, July 30. Holmes is likely to face more than 70 charges...

The man suspected in a horrific shooting rampage at a Colorado movie theater last Friday that left 12 people dead and 58 injured made his first appearance in court Monday morning - an introductory hearing ahead of what is expected to be a slew of criminal charges. James Eagan Holmes, 24, appeared before an Arapahoe County judge in Centennial, Colo., and was advised of the charges he is likely to face. July 20 (Reuters) - Surviving the deadly movie theater shooting in a Denver suburb was one momentous event that Jamie Rohrs and Patricia Legarreta shared on Friday - the other came afterward when they got engaged to be married at the hospital.
The couple were in a theater in Aurora, Colorado, watching a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" with Legarreta's 4-year-old daughter and their infant son on Friday when the gunman opened fire and chaos ensued.
Later, reunited and with the whole family safe, Rohrs proposed to Legarreta, who suffered a minor bullet wound, CNN said.
"He just looked at me and he said, 'I know this is not the time and place, but will you marry me?' And I said, 'Yes,'" Legarreta told CNN host Piers Morgan, discussing her fiance's impromptu proposal.
"Going through 10 minutes of thinking he was dead and I would never see him again,...

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates, in a briefing with reporters on Friday afternoon, said that 71 people had been shot in total and 12 had been killed during shootings at an area movie theater early Friday morning. Two of the victims died at area hospitals, while 10 were killed at the scene of the crime.
Oates confirmed that the suspected shooter was James Eagan Holmes, who entered the theater during a screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" dressed in all black and with heavy body armor. He is believed to have used three weapons and had four with him in total. An assault rifle, a shotgun, and a .40-caliber Glock were found in the theater. Another handgun was found in Holmes' car, which was parked at the back of the theater.
According to Oates, Holmes allegedly set off two devices to distract the crowd. The devices let out an "irritant or smoke." He then started shooting.

Woke up to terrible news about a man entering a midnight screening of the new Batman in a gas mask and rifle, threw out a cannister of hissing gass and opened fire. Horrifying news. Every time I click on a news link the number of dead rises. (Here's an interesting snapshot of how public news like this travels in real time.)
So sad that for each new gun massacre there is not a new gun control law. We never learn.
News Update: 12 confirmed dead and 51 more injured. Suspect James Eagan Holmes surrendered to police.
Related: Christopher Nolan's statement and The Atlantic's fine essay on the matter.
