Heather Rae El Moussa opened up about her time on Selling Sunset, the Netflix reality series that follows a group of real estate agents selling multi-million dollar homes in LA.
El Moussa was one of the original cast members of the Adam Divello-created show, appearing full-time throughout its first six seasons. The reality TV personality made a brief appearance at the beginning of Season 7 but left on maternity leave. She recently announced she was not returning to the show and found it a blessing.
“It was a blessing that I wasn’t asked to come back because I’m so much happier filming my show with Tarek,” El Moussa said on the latest episode of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast.
El Moussa now stars with her husband Tarek El Moussa on the HGTV show The Flipping El Moussas, saying, “We’re co-producers on our show so we pick the hours.

“Welcome to The O.C., bitch!”
With those five immortal words, a cultural phenomenon was born.
The brainchild of a then-25-year-old Josh Schwartz, and guided by the steady hand of his producing partner Stephanie Savage, The O.C. ran for four chaotic seasons on Fox before sailing off into the sunset (or, in the case of poor Marissa Cooper, crashing in a fiery wreck).

Although the reality of Netflix’s “Selling the Oc” — an unscripted series following the personal and professional lives of the owner and agents at successful California-based brokerage the Oppenheim Group — has been scrutinized since it first premiered in 2022, the multi-million dollar homes seen on camera are all truly for sale.
“Most of the time, they are listings that the Oppenheim group already had — whether the agents procure them themselves or they’re with [the brokerage],” Adam Divello, creator of the “Selling the Oc” and its parent show, “Selling Sunset,” told IndieWire.
And it is the stylish way the properties are filmed, with every glamorous detail offering audiences a vantage point of homes different from what they may have seen in the past, that sets the franchise apart from other reality series about real estate.
“We really try to give it our own style. And that was very deliberate from day one,” Divello said,...

You gotta look the part to play the part—especially in the high-stakes world of luxury real estate. So it only makes sense that the agents of Selling Sunset are frequently filmed wearing designer clothes and sporting a stunning contour. The recent season of the Netflix real estate reality show saw new broker Emma Hernan run across the ledge of one of the house’s dauntingly high infinity pools to pose for a photo.
Sitting down for Variety’s “Making a Scene”, Divello and stars Chrishelle Staus and Hernan broke down the moment from episode two’s “New Blood” that left viewers horrified.
“I thought production was going to step in,” Straus said. “This is one of those things that I legitimately thought, ‘There’s no way on this set...I can’t be the only one that’s going to object to this.’”
“No one stopped me. I figured ehh it’s really dangerous, someone will stop me,” Hernan explained. “I’m clumsy, so I probably shouldn’t be doing those things.

“Selling Sunset” star Christine Quinn has exited the hit Netflix reality series, Variety has confirmed.
Quinn will not appear in the show’s sixth and seven seasons, which recently began back-to-back production. The real estate agent has previously been a major part of the show, which follows the employees of the high-end Los Angeles real estate firm Oppenheim Group. In the show’s five seasons, Quinn’s rivalry with cast member Chrishell Stause and her relationship and eventual marriage to entrepreneur Christian Richard have been major storylines for the series.
The news follows a series of public comments from Quinn that indicated she would be making her exit from the series. Following Season 5, which premiered on the streamer in April, Quinn skipped out on the season’s reunion, stating it was due to contracting Covid-19. Christine Quinn is not returning to Selling Sunset, sources tell Deadline. The real estate expert won’t be featured in Season 6 or 7 of the Netflix reality series that follows a group of agents from The Oppenheim Group.

When Adam Divello first pitched Selling Sunset to Netflix, the plan wasn’t to turn an unscripted show about The Oppenheim Group—a high-end real estate firm in West Hollywood—into something akin to the Real Housewives franchise.
“I don’t think we ever knew exactly what it was going to be,” admits Divello about the show’s 2019 launch. “I know when I approached the Oppenheim brothers about being on the show, they were very hesitant. They didn’t want to be like a Bravo-type, so to speak, with no offense to Bravo. They just didn’t want to be on a show where there was constant fighting. I promised and said, ‘No, I’m going to make it about real estate and these high-end homes you guys sell in Los Angeles.’ Our first one was a 40 million house, which is crazy. Christine Quinn is finally offering insight into the question on every "Selling Sunset" fan's mind: how much do the cast members actually get paid? After recently confirming her return for season six despite leaving the Oppenheim Group, Quinn opened up about the pay structure for the reality stars on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast on May 18.
"I think it's all about recognizing your worth."
While Quinn didn't reveal any exact numbers, she shared there are three different pay tiers for the cast, and she and Jason Oppenheim are paid the most. "I'm gonna get sued after this. I don't care. You can't afford my lawyers," she added before explaining. The reason she takes home the highest salary isn't because of any production agreement or screen time - it's simply because she hired her own lawyer to negotiate the best deal. "That was me, with my entertainment attorney, basically saying, this is my value.

I found my dream home while watching season three of "Selling Sunset." The luxurious five-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion - known affectionately as the "Versace house" - sold for 8.95 million in 2021. For me, the most memorable piece of the home wasn't the golden Versace accents on every surface or even the lush views of the surrounding countryside. Instead, it was a statue affixed as a centerpiece in the backyard: a replica of one of the most recognizable works of art in history, "The Rape of the Sabine Women" by Italian sculptor Giambologna.
I distinctly remember Giambologna's original taking my breath away during a study-abroad semester in Italy. I had walked past that statue almost every day for four months on the way home to my tiny apartment in the center of Florence. Seeing that masterpiece shining in the sun - in the backyard of someone's home - reminded me why I enjoy...

If you haven't watched "Selling Sunset" on Netflix yet, you have a lot of catching up to do. "Selling Sunset" is a reality TV show that follows the luxurious lifestyles of The Oppenheim Group's Los Angeles real estate agents. While the show is highly captivating and addicting, many fans have questioned how much of the show is scripted. Much of this inquiry derives from the fact that the creator of the show, Adam Divello, also created "The Hills," an MTV reality show that its stars later revealed was heavily scripted and manipulated behind the scenes.
Are the "Selling Sunset" Cast Real Licensed Agents?
Many fans have questioned the legitimacy of the "Selling Sunset" agents' status as real estate agents. While several cast members (including Jason Oppenheim himself) have confirmed they all have their real estate licenses, the better question may be when each cast member locked down their license. “Selling Sunset” has been picked up for two additional seasons, bringing it through Season 5, while “Bling Empire” has been renewed for a second season following its debut earlier this year.
“These shows follow a person or group of people going about their real, everyday lives. The first new project in the works is an untitled real estate series from “Selling Sunset” executive producer Adam Divello and his Done and Done Productions banner.

Adam Divello is one of the founder fathers of docusoaps, a genre of television that melds together the melodrama of soap operas with the messiness of reality TV. His first solo venture, “The Hills,” quickly became canon.
His latest series, “Selling Sunset,” is the first of its kind on Netflix and follows a group of real estate agents at the Oppenheim Group and their wheelings and dealings along the Sunset Strip (and occasionally Los Feliz). The third season, which premiered on Aug. 7, even got Chrissy Teigen talking.
In a phone interview with Variety, Divello opened up about the show’s origins and hinted at what’s to come. However, when asked about Davina Potratz and Christine Quinn’s antics, and the widely shared perceptions of the pair as villains, the producer was reticent, then was quickly cut off by a publicist.

Thanks to the power of Netflix’s reach, the women of “Selling Sunset” are getting pretty famous. While two of their significant others beat them to celebrity status, three seasons into the real-estate reality show, we’ve yet to see those men on screen. But Justin Hartley and Tarek El Moussa are mentioned so much they might as well be honorary cast members.
That goose-egg tally of guest appearances may change in the case of HGTV star El Moussa, “Selling Sunset” executive producer Adam Divello teased to TheWrap ahead of his Season 3 premiere — but it seems highly unlikely for Chrishell Stause’s now ex-husband Hartley.
The plot of “Selling Sunset” Season 3, now on Netflix, revolves around two major life moments — and both involve matrimony. First (chronologically), comes Chrishell’s shocking divorce from “This Is Us” star Hartley, and second, Christine Quinn’s over-the-top wedding to tech entrepreneur Christian Richard.

Contrary to in-vogue opinion, producers cannot actually shape every aspect of their reality series. Take “Selling Sunset,” for example. Executive producer Adam Divello was hoping the $40 million home in the Hollywood Hills that was the focus of Season 1 would finish its build by the finale.
It did not.
“We only have so long of a production window and there are only so many homes they are going to sell in those months that we’re shooting,” Divello told TheWrap ahead of his show’s Season 2 premiere on Netflix. “So the $40 million home, perfect example. Would I have loved to show in the first season the completion of that and the sale of that home? Of course, we were all hoping that was going to happen, but it didn’t. And so now we are fortunate enough to get a second season, so we pick right back up with that house.

Netflix’s “Selling Sunset” has been renewed for a third season, which is set to premiere on Aug. 7, 2020. Season 3 will also consist of eight episodes.
Season 2 of the reality series debuted at midnight on Friday. At the end of the eight episodes, a teaser of future footage runs. The footage, in which the women learn that Chrishell Stause’s husband Justin Hartley (“This Is Us”) has filed for divorce, also depicts Christine Quinn’s wedding and what appears to be the sale of that $40 million new-build house the real estate agents of The Oppenheim Group have all been competing over.
TheWrap has learned that the footage is from future “Selling Sunset” episodes commissioned by Netflix and that the streaming service is considering the summer block to be Season 3. Netflix will occasionally break up a show’s season into two parts, but this next batch of episodes had yet to be announced or reported,...

Netflix crossed another unscripted threshold on Friday with the launch of “Selling Sunset,” an 8-episode series that follows a group of real estate agents on the Sunset Strip. The show is believed to be the streaming service’s first docusoap, the now-ubiquitous format first popularized in the early 2000s by shows like MTV’s “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills.”
Adam Divello was an MTV executive who helped develop “Laguna Beach,” and he later left the network to create and executive produce its even more successful spinoff, “The Hills.” His production company, Done and Done Prods., is behind “Selling Sunset,” along with Lionsgate TV.
The show centers on the real estate brokers at the Oppenheim Group, which focuses on multi-million dollar homes for wealthy clients. Twins Jason and Brett Oppenheim (who have previously been seen on “Million Dollar Listing”) run the company, along with their all-female group of agents. The series...
