Celine Dion made one of the most over-the-top music videos of the 1990s. The “Because You Love Me” singer explained what was going on in the supernatural clip. Interestingly, the video in question was helmed by one of the most important music video directors of all time.
1 Celine Dion music video has a tragic storyline
During a 1996 interview posted on her YouTube channel, Dion discussed her music video for “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.” “It’s a big video,” she said. “And you know what? I don’t want to say video. To me, it’s a seven-minute movie.”
The singer explained the meaning of the music video. “The concept of this video is absolutely — I was building my life around this person, and I was of course very much in love,” she said. “Something very tragic happened. He passed away in a motorcycle accident.”

If you watched John Mayer’s new music video for “Last Train Home” and kept expecting Axl Rose to snake-dance his way into the frame, it’s for good reason. The video is an homage to Guns N’ Roses’ summer of ’88 MTV staple, “Sweet Child o’ Mine.” Right down to a canine cameo.
Like “Sweet Child o’ Mine,” “Last Train Home” opens with an image of a digital clapboard calling action on filming. The premise is that the featured artist is on a soundstage about to shoot a music video...

Nigel Dick had already directed videos for Guns N’ Roses, Oasis, and many others by the time he met Britney Spears in 1998, but even the “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” clips couldn’t come close to matching the culture-shaking impact of “…Baby One More Time.”
Dick went on to helm the videos for “(You Drive Me) Crazy” and “Sometimes,” and when it came time for the all-important first single from Spears’ second album, Oops!… I Did It Again, she and her team turned to him again.

Starring: Lisa Eilbacher, Steve Railsback, Maud Adams, Fred Williamson, Persis Khambatta, Lance Henrikson, David Dukes, Solly Marx, Pamela Guest
Okay, you see a DVD cover (or read about a film on the web) with Maud Adams, Fred Williamson, Persis Khambatta and Lance Henrikson in the cast and you figure it has to be a decent bit of cheese. Well, check your expectations at the door, because Deadly Intent is intent on being a deadly dull cinematic experience.
Released on video in 1989, the story focuses on the trials of Laura Keaton (Lisa Eilbacher). She’s married to Raymond (Lance Henrikson), an adventurer who collects rare artifacts and is not above screwing over his partners. When the film opens, we see him beat a member of his most recent expedition (Harley, played by Solly Marx) senseless in order to walk out of the jungle with a massive diamond.

'I'm proud of my butt, but I don't think I'm gonna be showing it in any music videos,' season seven 'American Idol' winner says.

David Cook says farewell to a dysfunctional romance in his latest single, "The Last Goodbye," but he did not say au revoir to his pants during the filming of the music video, even if it might look that way.
A group of hawkeyed fans thought they had spotted a silly (and bottomless) Easter egg as the season seven "American Idol" champ runs up a flight of stairs in the video. Had the rocker jokingly dropped trou for one take, and had the director actually included a few frames of Cook's nekkidness as a blink-and-you-miss-it in-joke?

David Cook has unveiled music video for his new single "The Last Goodbye". In this clip, he has the whole city of California thinking that he might be dead. His jacket, bag and wallet are found on shore, leading to a speculation that he has drowned. Oblivious to people's concern about his well-being, he stays in his room the whole day after returning from the beach.
The music video is directed by Nigel Dick (Britney Spears, Oasis, Nickelback), and was shot in Malibu earlier this month. "It would have been easy to just set the band up and do a broody performance video," Cook explained to EW. "But I wanted to do something a little more fun."
The concept of going Awol includes a story of the "American Idol" graduate making a "David Cook Feared Drowned" headline on local paper. "I'm going to frame it and hang it in the house,...

Sure Britney Spears tends to take her clothes off a lot, but she's also worn some pretty memorable looks in her music videos. And as it turns out, Spears plans to up her fashion ante for the upcoming "Hold It Against Me" (which premieres on MTV and MTV.com on Thursday, February 17 at 9:56 p.m. Eastern).
"She's taking fashion risks," choreographer Brian Friedman shared about the style Spears is rocking this time around. "Things we've never seen her wear before she's wearing in this video, and I think it's just very sexy and it's a little bit playful."
Spears famously donned that school girl uniform in her "...Baby One More Time" video in 1998. The Lolita idea was all her own. "My idea originally was just jeans and T-Shirts, and we were at the wardrobe fitting and Britney holds up the jeans and T-shirts and says, 'Wouldn't I wear a schoolgirl outfit?...

Who would have thought that a red piece of latex would mean so much to a pop star. For Britney Spears, that skintight garment was something she wanted to make sure made the final cut of the ultra-glossy video for her 2000 smash hit "Oops! ... I Did It Again."
The video's director, Nigel Dick, reminisced in a 2009 MTV News interview about Spears' request for the now-unforgettable red-latex catsuit. "[She said,] 'I want to be in a red jumpsuit. I want to have a really cute spaceman, but there can't be any rockets,' " he remembered. "There was another catsuit, actually, which was fantastic, which I loved, and the night before, I was told that Britney hired this guy that worked with Michael Jackson.

On Monday (September 27), "Titanic" star Gloria Stuart passed away at age 100. While she will always be remembered as the present-day version of Kate Winslet's Rose who tosses away a priceless blue diamond into the ocean, for fans of Britney Spears' "Oops!... I Did It Again," she will also be remembered as the woman who inspired the spoken word portion of the song.
Let me refresh your memory. During a particularly strange and kind of brilliant part of the song, Spears gets a gift from her man (an astronaut!), and her response to receiving the priceless heirloom is, "Oh, it's beautiful! But wait a minute, isn't this... ? But I thought the old lady dropped it into the ocean in the end!" He confirms that it is in fact that diamond (which was called the "Heart of the Ocean" in the movie). Her feelings on him risking his own life to get her the gift?...

Britney Spears had everyone buzzing after releasing several sexy videos from her debut album, including the pop-tart clips for " ... Baby One More Time" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy." So when Britney released the first video from her second album for "Oops! ... I Did It Again," she decided not to mess with a good thing and once again worked with frequent collaborator Nigel Dick, who this time reinvented Spears as a sexy, otherworldly vixen.
" 'Oops!... I Did It Again' was the first single from her second album, so there's definitely the sense that this is Britney's second album," Dick told MTV News about the expectations surrounding the video's release in 2000.

"So I jumped on the phone with Britney and she says, 'Well, I now I think it should be about me in school and there be lots of hot boys around,' and that was pretty much it — oh, and a bunch of dancing. And my response was, 'Ok.' "

'Fate' unites Maverick, Dick
Madonna and Guy Oseary's Maverick Films has tapped music video-turned-feature helmer Nigel Dick to direct Chasing Fate. Acquired in May from scribes Mark Famiglietti and Lane Garrison, the project is a romantic comedy about a successful man whose life unravels after he dumps his fiancee. When she finds sudden fame and fortune, he becomes convinced they were fated to be together and goes on a journey to win her back. Along with Maverick, Sunil Perkash and Zachary Feuer will produce. At the company, vp Brent Emery and executive producer Baron Kidd are overseeing. "This is the kind of movie I've been wanting to get my hands on for years," Dick said. "When I first moved to Hollywood, I spent $12.98 on a book about screwball comedies, and I'm delighted that at long last I'll be seeing a return on my investment. I've even made a promise to the producers that I won't charge them for it in my expenses." Said Maverick president Mark Morgan: "We are thrilled to be working with a director with as keen a sense of pop culture and visual style as Nigel Dick. His tremendous music video background is the perfect fit for Maverick." Dick has helmed more than 200 music videos during his career for such wide-ranging artists as Guns N' Roses and Britney Spears. He also directed the MTV telefilm 2Gether and the S Club 7 film S Club Seeing Double for Columbia TriStar. Dick is repped by Endeavor and Handprint Entertainment's Dannielle Thomas.

Seeing Double
Columbia TriStar
LONDON -- "Seeing Double" forms part of that bizarre grouping of movies that feature pop bands running around glamorous locations looking for an excuse to sing and dance. The film, which marks the big-screen debut of Britpop sextet S Club, could prove to be a minor U.K. success, but it's hard to see it as more than a video/DVD release in most territories.
The script is by Kim Fuller, who also wrote "Spice World". The story is typical small-screen tosh: A mad inventor clones the six members of S Club while they are off at a gig in Spain and has the well-behaved new S Club clones play a series of concerts in Los Angeles. It is left for the plucky popsters -- Bradley, Rachel, Hannah, Jo, Tina and Jon -- to make their way to the United States and get to the bottom of this nefarious plot.
The real S Club break into a fortresslike L.A. mansion and discover that the fake S Club are actually bellybuttonless "popbots," and the clonemaster (David Gant) has evil plans to control the minds of the world's youth by controlling their pop icons.
On a certain level, "Seeing Double" is simply an extended television program, replete with awful jokes, nice locations, standard pop-video direction and a smattering of song-and-dance routines. The six members of S Club work hard at being attractive, endearing and mildly wacky, but only Hannah Spearritt (as Hannah) shows a natural spark. The scene where she tries to distract a pair of nasty-looking guard dogs with her glove puppet is genuinely quite amusing.
The Spanish and L.A. locations are extremely nice, and director Nigel Dick goes about his work with tongue-in-cheek enthusiasm. He is an experienced pop video director and, unsurprisingly, the performance sections are handled very well. In many ways, "Seeing Double" is an old-fashioned and endearingly innocent teen movie aimed fair and square at the Easter holiday marketplace.
