Sang with the Chicago Civic Opera and the New London Opera Company, among other venues. Her opera resume included "Aida," "Tosca" and "Cavalleria Rusticana.".
Of Sicilian descent, she studied opera in Italy with the assistance of singer Giovanni Martinelli and his wife in 1927 and made her debut in Verdi's "Il Trovatore" at La Scala in Milan in 1930.
