I love Stanley Kubrick‘s classic Stephen King adaptation The Shining (watch it Here) and would probably have a blast watching the movie at the Timberline Lodge in Oregon – which is the place that stood in for the Overlook Hotel in the exterior shots of the location. (The interior scenes were filmed on sets in England.) Chances are, I’m not going to be able to do that any time soon, but some fans are going to have that opportunity later this year! On Set Cinema has announced that they will be showing The Shining at the Timberline Lodge on Sunday, October 6th! The event details can be found at This Link and tickets can be purchased Here.
King’s novel (available Here) has the following description: Jack Torrance’s new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel,...

Chicago – This Easter weekend it’s worth noting that one of the greatest renditions of “the greatest story ever told” celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2023. “Jesus Christ Superstar,” the film adaptation of the 1970 rock opera by then 21-year-old Anthony Lloyd Webber and 24-year-old Tim Rice, was directed by Norman Jewison and starred Ted Neeley. Neeley and other members of the cast remember the movie, in flashback interviews from 2013.
Ted Neeley, Title Character in “Jesus Christ Superstar”
Ted Neeley had the perfect show business start when coming of age in the 1960s. After venturing out of his native Texas to find a music career in Los Angeles, Neeley landed the role of Claude in both the Los Angeles and New York versions of “Hair” in 1969. The director of that show remembered Neeley when he was casting for the Broadway stage version of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s rock opera,...

There's nothing Nicolas Cage can't do. The Academy Award-winning movie star has played just about every character type under the sun, but even after four decades of acting, he's just getting started. He played a fictional version of himself (and his most famous roles) earlier this year in one of the funniest films of 2022, "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent," and in April of 2023, Cage will sink his teeth into the role of Count Dracula in Chris McKay's horror-comedy "Renfield."
Yes, Cage has one of the most varied resumes of anyone working in Hollywood, but there's one area he's yet to explore — movie musicals. In an interview as part of Empire Magazine's "Greatest Actors Issue," Nicolas Cage opened up about his hopes for the future of his career, which includes his desire to work with one of the most hailed names in the world of musical theater. Chicago – In 1973, director Norman Jewison fashioned a radical film version of the rock opera/Broadway show “Jesus Christ Superstar,” and the cinematic innovations plus stellar cast equaled a timeless movie musical classic. Josh Mostel portrayed King Herod and Barry Dennen was Pontius Pilate in the iconic film.
Jesus Christ Superstar (Jcs) began it’s life as a rock opera, a concept record released in 1969 with Ian Gillan of the rock group Deep Purple singing the part of Jesus. Two key members of the album’s cast went on to do the film … Yvonne Elliman as Mary Magdalene and Barry Dennen as Pontius Pilate. The Broadway show adaptation opened two years later, and the 1973 film followed with Ted Neeley as Jesus.

The rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar will be resurrected as a live concert on NBC airing Sunday, April 1, 45 years after the movie became a hit — so what better way to celebrate than by learning secrets about the original movie? The new event is just the latest incarnation of the musical, created in 1970 by then-20-somethings Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. "The premise comes from that Bob Dylan line, 'Did Judas Iscariot have God on his side?'" Lloyd Webber says of their story of Jesus' last six days. The 1973 film, starring Ted Neeley as Jesus and Carl Anderson as Judas, earned a devoted following. "It changed my life completely," says Ted, who at 74 still plays Jesus in traveling productions. "It's the most magnificent experience I've ever had — that's why I will do it until [my voice] doesn't work anymore," he says. Here's a look at some of the miracles that brought the movie to life.

Barry Dennen, member of the original cast of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” died Tuesday at age 79, his reps told TheWrap. The actor died in hospice care in Burbank after suffering a brain injury from a fall in June. Dennen played Pontius Pilate, the man who sentenced Jesus Christ to death, on the original recording and in the 1973 film. Prior to that, Dennen had a brief relationship with Barbra Streisand in the early 1960s, when he helped her develop the nightclub act that kickstarted her career. Dennen wrote about his time with Streisand in a 1997 book called “My Life...

Heavenly Sword is a dramatic tale of revenge that sees Nariko (Anna Torv), a fiery red-haired heroine, embark on a quest for vengeance against the invading King Bohan (Alfred Molina) and his army. Once considered the failure of a legendary prophesy, Nariko must wield a sword that was ultimately meant for another. This ancient Heavenly Sword, once belonging to a powerful deity, can never be wielded by a mortal without it slowly but inevitably killing them. For Nariko it is a race against time to avenge her clan before her life is irreparably overtaken by the omnipotent Heavenly Sword.
I am going to preface this review by stating that I have never played the Heavenly Sword game. I am reviewing Heavenly Sword...

Chicago – What can be said for a man who has portrayed Jesus close to 5,000 times, and starred in the definitive Broadway and film versions of the most famous rock opera about Christ? Ted Neeley is as virtuous as his famous title role in “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Ted Neeley had the perfect show business start when coming of age in the 1960s. After venturing out of his native Texas to find a music career in Los Angeles, Neeley landed the role of Claude in both the Los Angeles and New York versions of “Hair” in 1969. The director of that show remembered Neeley when he was casting for the Broadway stage version of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s rock opera, “Jesus Christ Superstar.” He understudied in New York, and played the role on Broadway and in Los Angeles. That garnered interest from the producers of the 1973 film version, and he...

Chicago – The TV show “Get Smart,” which had its original run on the NBC network from 1965-1970, was an oddball classic. Created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, the sitcom was a goofy satire on cold war politics of the 1960s, with a hapless operative named Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) working for the Control agency, spying against a foreign menace called Kaos. Barbara Feldon (Agent 99) and Bernie Kopell (Sigfried) were part of the supporting cast.

Chicago – To answer the musical question, “Baby, if you ever wondered, wondered whatever became of me?” there is the sublime Loni Anderson, who portrayed Jennifer Marlowe on the popular 1970s sitcom, “Wkrp in Cincinnati.” Anderson was an attendee of “The Hollywood Show,” which comes to Chicago again on September 7th and 8th, 2013.
Loni Anderson is much like her character on Wkrp – luminous, intelligent and with a unique perspective. She climbed the show business ladder herself, after having a first marriage and a child in her teens. After that marriage ended before her 21st birthday, she finished college at the University of Minnesota and started an acting career, taking roles on stage and in local and national commercials. After moving to Los Angeles in 1975, she dyed her jet black hair to blonde, and began a series of high profile appearances on familiar dramas and comedies of the era, including “The Bob Newhart Show” and “Police Woman.

Streisand In Legal Battle With Ex Over Performance Tapes
Barbra Streisand is tangled in a legal battle with her ex-boyfriend as he prepares to auction off recordings of her early performances for over $1 million (£666,670).
Barry Dennen published his memoir My Life with Barbra: A Love Story in 1997, detailing his romance with the entertainer over 50 years ago.
Dennen, 67, claims he coached Streisand after they shared the stage in 1959 off-Broadway play The Insect Comedy, and admits he refused Streisand's request to return three performance tapes he recorded during their relationship.
The recordings include a rehearsal at a New York nightclub of songs including Keepin' Out of Mischief Now, I Want To Be Bad, Lover Come Back to Me and Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
He tells the New York Post, "I (refused to give the tapes back). I said 'No. They are the only thing I have left of our collaboration' I'm a little trepidatious. I don't know what the fallout will be. I don't like upsetting Barbra, and I don't want her fans angry at me."
The tapes are set to be auctioned off on MomentsInTime.com, but Streisand is moving to block the sale.
A spokesman for Streisand says, "Our lawyers are dealing with this."...
