The MGM+ original drama series “Godfather of Harlem” has cast “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “How to Get Away with Murder” actor Rome Flynn as a recurring guest star during the show’s upcoming fourth season.
Flynn will portray Frank Lucas, a country boy from North Carolina who ventures to Harlem and, after initial friction with gangster Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker), eventually rises to become Bumpy’s fiercest defender and right-hand man.
Academy Award winner Denzel Washington first portrayed Frank Lucas in the 2007 film “American Gangster,” which is loosely based on the criminal background of the real-life gangster who operated a drug empire in New York City during the late 1960s and early 1970s. In the TV series, the character’s story will begin ten years earlier than in the film.

Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter, is out in the wild. In a press release, Beyoncé provided extensive insight into the making of the album and its variety of influences. Plus, read our review the album here.
Each Song Was Inspired by a Western Film
Notably, each song is its own version of a reimagined Western film, including Michael Matthews’ Five Fingers For Marseilles; James Bridges’ Urban Cowboy; Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight; Clint Eastwood’s Space Cowboys; Jeymes Samuel’s The Harder They Fall; and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Often times, they films were playing on a screen during the recording process.
Additionally, some aspects of the album’s percussion were inspired by the Coen Brothers’ ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?.
Beyoncé also found inspiration in traditional country, R&b, blues, zydeco, and Black folk music, as well as from her childhood trips to the Houston Rodeo.

The NFL set the internet ablaze on Monday with theories that a recording of Alicia Keys’ halftime appearance was pitch-corrected before its release on YouTube.
Keys dazzled as the first guest of Usher’s Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday, beginning her performance with “If I Ain’t Got You” seated at a red piano with a massive matching cape behind her. In the opening note of the song, many fans heard Keys’ voice crack. Clips of the vocal stumble spread across the internet, but many later noticed it was missing from the official recording of the performance later uploaded to YouTube.
Online, many fans presented evidence of the change with side-by-side edits of the live show and pitch-corrected recording.
Reps for Keys and the NFL did not immediately respond to The Hollywood Reporter‘s request for comment.

Swizz Beatz and his son Nasir hit above 60 mph as they drift through Japan’s “Gunsai” course in a first-look at Hulu/Onyx Collective’s upcoming series “Drive With Swizz.”

In its S-1, Triller said that it has raised $380 million in capital and has accumulated 550 million users across its suite of apps. Initially, the company led by CEO Mahi de Silva attempted to go public through a special purpose acquisition company (Spac). It planned a $5 billion merger with digital video company SeaChange International, but the deal was called off in June 2022.
At that point, Triller sought an IPO. Its public listing has been anticipated since then, and it officially submitted its S-1 on August 2.

Although most fans assume celebrities have easy lives, Alicia Keys has had her share of challenges. Keys, who began writing music at age 12, was raised by a single parent in a rough, crime-riddled New York neighborhood. Jay-Z is widely regarded as a hip-hop legend thanks to his years in the music industry and undeniable talent for rapping. He’s continued to remain a high-profile figure thanks to his music career as well as his marriage to Beyoncé. Hip-Hop Turns 50. The Grammys Celebrate the Milestone Despite Its Complicated History With the Genre
Hip-hop has had a contentious relationship with the Grammys, but tonight’s 50th anniversary performance was a much-deserved celebration of the genre. The loaded showcase achieved performance co-curator Questlove’s previously stated goal to span the breadth of hip-hop’s 50 years. The Recording Academy has been criticized in the past for controversial award selections in the rap categories, but this performance was a decision that few hip-hop heads could complain about.

A lot’s happened in the three years since Clive Davis last hosted his storied Pre-Grammy Gala at the Beverly Hilton. There’s been a global pandemic, which itself led to the event’s in-person cancellation for the past two Grammy seasons prior to Saturday night. We’ve seen changes in presidents and deaths of queens. The years haven’t seemed to have caught up with Davis, however, who at 90 years old still somehow has more stamina at his glitzy party than anyone else in the room.
