Netflix has unveiled the first look at their new show Ozark, which debuts on the subscription service later this summer – you can check out the first trailer and debut images below!
The new show is directed and executive produced by Jason Bateman (The Family Fang, Office Christmas Party), who also stars in the show as Marty Bird, a financial planner who relocates with his family from a Chicago suburb to Missouri Ozarks, a summer resort community. The move has to do with Marty also being a top money launderer and after a job backfires, the second biggest Mexican drug cartel comes for them.
Bateman will direct half the episodes of the 10-episode series and marks a return to television series directing for the actor, who previously directed episodes of Arrested Development amongst others, as well as 2013’s Bad Words and 2015’s The Family Fang, which co-starred Nicole Kidman and Christopher Walken.

Well this already sounds amazing! Word from Deadline this weekend has suggested that Academy Award Nominees Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange, The Imitation Game) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Okja, Nocturnal Animals) are set to headline the new film from acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino (A Bigger Splash).
The new thriller has been written by Steven Knight, the screenwriter behind Allied and hit BBC show Peaky Blinders, and is set to start filming sometime in early 2018 with StudioCanal financing the film. The script reportedly concerns two friends, “one a business titan and the other a journalist”, and it is also said to include a “strong female lead” that is still to be cast.
It has already been a busy year for the acclaimed director: earlier this year, his latest film Call Me By Your Name, debuted to critical acclaim at this year’s Sundance Film Festival as well the Berlin Film Festival,...

Praise Netflix! It seems that the latest film from acclaimed director J.C. Chandor, Triple Frontier, may have just been saved by the subscription service after it seemed the project had died last month.
The film, which has been written by Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker), details the story of “drug-running on the border between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil” was set to be made at Paramount Pictures but a few weeks ago the film was scrapped by the studio after a change in management, and left its future in making it to the big screen looking grim. This is despite Chandor having secured the services of Tom Hardy (Taboo), Channing Tatum (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) and Oscar Winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), though the latter is still attached.
In fact, Will Smith (Suicide Squad), Johnny Depp (Black Mass) and Tom Hanks (The Circle) had circled the project at one time or another.

Many eyebrows were raised when comedian Adam Sandler was signed by Netflix on a three-picture deal in what was the subscription services biggest deal at the time. The company has expanded even more since he signed, but the marriage between the two has been a happy one thus far.
While critics haven’t been particularly forgiving with Sandler’s Netflix roster so far (The Ridiculous 6, The Do Over and Sandy Wexler, the latter of which debuted earlier this month) and as such the star has now extended his deal which will see the star make a further four films for them – and he may have secured his next film. Cult classic Donnie Darko has been in the news again recently after the film was re-released on Blu-ray and DVD to celebrate its 15th anniversary (you could still win a copy in our competition which closes tonight). Writer/director Richard Kelly has been speaking about both the restoration of the film and the impact it has had in the period since it was first released, for which he says may not be over with just yet.
Speaking to hmv, Kelly spoke about the film and the “universe” the film is set in and said that he is not opposed to returning to it at some point in the future, saying:
“I think there’s something much bigger and more ambitious to do in that universe. It’s big and expensive and I think there’s time to get to that. I want to make sure we’ve...

While the circus of DC’s Justice League and the future solo Batman film is taking up a lot of Ben Affleck’s time right now there’s the small matter of the Oscar-winning director’s new film. The film, released today in UK cinemas, has a fine cast and we’ve spent the day chatting to the director and his cast.
Scott Davis sat down with the director and Sienna Miller to talk what drew them each to the film, how their characters relate to one another and Affleck talks about casting Miller, and what made her perfect for the role. I didn't see Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill, and it wasn't because Sony didn't screen it; because they did. Nope, the reason I didn't see it is because it looked like more of the same Sandler twaddle. A fact that caused me to look back to try and find out the last time I subjected myself to one of Sandler's so-called "comedies". As it turns out, Jack and Jill is the fourth one in a row that I've skipped. Jack and Jill was now part of a growing list with Just Go with It (2011), Grown Ups (2010) and Bedtime Stories (2008). Admittedly, I have heard Just Go with It was actually pretty good (though the film's 20% RottenTomatoes score says otherwise), but I still have no desire to see it. The last Adam Sandler movie I did see -- no, I don't count him voicing the monkey in Zookeeper -- was Funny People...
