- Cedric Thorpe Davie was born on May 13, 1913 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. He was a composer, known for Minions (2015), Snowbound (1948) and The Warriors (1955). He died on January 18, 1983.
- Scottish composer, a graduate of the Scottish Royal College of Music and Drama in Glasgow, where he studied under Ralph Vaughan Williams. In 1945 he became professor of the Music Department at the University of St Andrews and by the end of the decade worked on film music. Awarded an OBE in 1955.
