Mr. D'Angelo has an impressive 27 years (and counting) experience in
the motion picture and television industry. He began his career in 1978
as a stuntman and actor and has worked his way over the years to
becoming a respected Stunt Coordinator, Second Unit Director, and actor
working on such epic films as Martin Scorsese's "Casino" and Walter
Hill's "Last Man Standing". Sonny's television credits include "Cagney
and Lacey", "Hunter", " Moonlighting", "Murder She Wrote", "Dr. Quinn
Medicine Woman", and "NYPD Blue" just to name a few. His feature film
credits include Tim Burton's cult classic "Ed Wood" starring Johnny
Depp, Martin Landau and Bill Murray. Sonny can also be seen in Warner
Brother's "Trojan Wars" and Rysher Entertainment's "Destiny Turns on
the Radio". For the last eight years, Sonny has been working as a Stunt
Coordinator and Second Unit Director on many feature films including
"Highway Murders", "Death Doll", "Stage Ghost", "Title to Murder",
"Spiders 2", and "Tycus" starring Dennis Hopper. The latter was Sonny's
second feature with Mr. Hopper, the first of which being the
controversial film "Colors" starring Robert Duvall and Sean Penn. The
television projects "Armed and Female", "America's Most Wanted", and
"Final Justice" are just a few of Sonny's Stunt Coordinator credits.
His national television commercial clients include Chevy Trucks, Union
76, and Nissan. Sonny is an expert horseman and experienced wrangler
and cowboy. He has performed countless stunts involving horses and
professional horsemanship skills and works very closely with World
Champion trick rider and stuntman Tad Griffith. Action sequences
involving vehicles is also an area of Sonny's expertise. He has
performed and coordinated countless sequences utilizing precision
driving, pipe ramps, cannons, power slides, etc. Virtually any gag
involving anything with wheels Sonny has done it and has done it safely
and with pyrotechnics being so involved with car stunts, he has also
earned the respect of many top special effect supervisors in the
industry. Sonny is especially proud of his involvement with the
treatment for abused children. Along with friends like actors Perry
King and Isabella Hoffman, Sonny wrote and directed many commercials
designed to make the public aware of the staggering statistic on child
abuse in this country. In addition to being a SAG and AFTRA member, he
is also an associate member of the Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association and is
a Silver member of the Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame. He is a member of the
Hollywood Stuntman's Hall of Fame and was recently listed in Who's Who
in America.
