- Prolific British cinematographer. Began as a camera assistant in 1913. Full director of photography from 1920, at Stoll (1921-26), subsequently BIP at Elstree until 1932. Did some of his best work at Gainsborough in the 1940s. Worked on everything from Alfred Hitchcock thrillers to Norman Wisdom farces.
