Kathryn Bigelow’s 1990 film Blue Steel flirts with contrivance from the start. Megan Turner (Jamie Lee Curtis) joins the NYPD out of a desire to overcome an abusive childhood with a position of civic authority, then finds her job immediately threatened when a fatal shootout at a convenience store places her under internal-affairs review. To make matters more outlandish, Eugene Hunt (Ron Silver), a commodities trader whose theft of a gun from the crime scene prompted Turner’s investigation in the first place, begins to romantically pursue and eventually outright stalk her.
These are a lot of farfetched narrative strands to pile onto a B movie, but Bigelow uses this setup to deconstruct the eroticized violence of 1980s action cinema in a manner as striking and confrontational as her earlier Point Break. But if that film examined the homosocial bonds between men, Blue Steel leans into complex, insoluble gender politics...

Looks like Kevin James is going to be leading a Netflix original film, and despite the above featured image, it is a not a Paul Blart: Mall Cop movie. The streaming service has announced today that the actor/comedian will be heading the film entitled True Memoirs Of An International Assassin.
The film's synopsis is as follows:
"A mild-mannered would-be author gets mistaken for a killer-for-hire when his fictional novel about an international assassin is published as a true story. The book is a huge success and he is suddenly kidnapped and taken to Venezuela and forced into an assassination plot."
True Memoirs Of An International Assassin is directed by Jeff Wadlow, who is likely best known for directing Kick-ass 2, and will be hitting Netflix some time in 2016.
While I feel no particular way or another about this film, I'm very interested to see the online interest. Given James'...

It looks that Indian director Vidhu Vinod Chopra has some serious plans for his first English-language film titled Broken Horses.
All of the sudden we have three great guys on board for the whole thing – Anton Yelchin, Chris Marquette and Vincent D’Onofrio!
They will all star in a movie which is based on an original story written by Chopra and Abhijat Joshi.
Unfortunately, at this moment the only thing we know about the whole thing is that the film will apparently focus on gang warfare around the border between the United States and Mexico.
Still, with Yelchin, Marquette and D’Onofrio – we guess that nothing could possibly go wrong. In addition to these well-known guys, let us also add that Thomas Jane, Sean Patrick Flanery and Maria Valverde are also set to co-star in the movie.
Reliance Entertainment is financing Broken Horses and Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman...
