- Slightly-built, rustic-looking comic character actor. Built his reputation on the Keith-Orpheum vaudeville circuit. In films from 1929, Hollywood from 1932. With the Preston Sturges unofficial stock company of players in the 1940's, with appearances in Sullivan's Travels (1941),The Palm Beach Story (1942), Hail the Conquering Hero (1944), The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (1943), and most notably as Wormy in The Sin of Harold Diddlebock (1947).
