The Young and the Restless premiered in 1973 and has since become one of the most famous soap operas of all time. At one point, it had such a big impact on American culture that Mary J. Blige even sampled its theme music on a single.
What song does ‘The Young and the Restless’ use in its intro sequence?
So excited about this! ? https://t.co/D4l37FE1GN

Since its premiere, Y&r has used the instrumental song “Nadia’s Theme” in its intro sequence.
“Nadia’s Theme” was composed by Barry De Vorzon and Perry Botkin Jr. in 1971 for the movie Bless the Beast and Children. At the time, it was known as “Cotton’s Dream.”
Not long after, Botkin Jr. composed another version of “Cotton’s Dream” for Y&R.

“Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off” opens with a montage of failures. Hawk, now in his 50s and easily the most famous skateboarder of all time, is trying to land a 900. To pull the trick off, he has to complete two and a half aerial spins, essentially hurtling himself and his skateboard through several mid-air somersaults before landing neatly back on a wooden ramp.
Hawk already landed this trick, over two decades ago at the 1999 X Games. He is reportedly the first to ever successfully do so. It was a feat akin to Tonya Harding’s triple axel or Nadia Comaneci’s perfect 10. Yet here Hawk is, relentlessly determined to do it again.

Natasha Lyonne has worked as a child star (“Pee-wee’s Playhouse”), a teen star (“The Slums of Beverly Hills”) and of course as an adult (“Orange Is the New Black”), but her wealth of acting experience also fueled a desire to create. Teaming up with Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, Lyonne executive produces and stars in “Russian Doll,” an eight-episode series about finding human connection after death that is streaming on Netflix.
How closely connected do you feel to your character of Nadia in “Russian Doll”?
The character of Nadia is somebody who’s been sort of my, and I hate to use this reference because I’m somebody who’s pushing 40; I’m no longer a tween, but remember how [Charles] Bukowski always had Henry Chinaski? I always had Nadia in everything I would write, and it was based on Nadia Comaneci, who was my favorite gymnast from the ’80s.

Celebrities who attended the sixth annual Gold Meets Golden brunch on Saturday weighed in on whether or not Kevin Hart should have a second chance at hosting the Oscars. The comedian was set to host the Academy Awards, but stepped down after controversy ensued over homophobic jokes he made years ago.

“He’s a great talent, and he would be wonderful hosting the Oscars,” Porter said of Hart, despite Porter’s earlier comments saying the comedian “crossed a line.”

Keeping with one of its themes this year on female empowerment, the Tribeca Film Festival opened last night with a doc about one of the city’s 1970s comedy trailblazers, Saturday Night Live‘s Gilda Radner, with the CNN film Love, Gilda.
It’s the second time that Tribeca has opened with a documentary about one of Gotham’s institutions, 2015’s opener being the SNL time capsule feature Live From New York!
However, Love, Gilda delves into the intricacies of Radner’s life from her childhood weight problems to her segue from Toronto’s comedy scene to SNL, and ultimately how she was determined to keep laughing as she battled ovarian cancer before her death in 1989. Much of this is bolstered by director Lisa D’Apolito’s access to a significant amount of Radner’s archives including footage, photos, taped and written diaries.

When the Rio Olympics cauldron is extinguished on Aug. 21, it will officially mark the end of one Romanian couple's 40-year dominance over the sport of gymnastics, making America's so-called Final Five their last gold medal champions. Martha and Béla Károlyi have coached top American gymnasts since defecting to the country in 1981. From the confines of their ranch in Huntsville, Texas, the husband and wife team eventually overhauled the U.S. approach to the sport, successfully taking over command of the national team nearly 16 years ago. As the national team coordinator, Martha has led the U.S. women's gymnastics team to four Olympic medals.

Move over Steven Spielberg—there's a new director in town! And her name is Katie Holmes. Yup, the former Dawson's Creek star has gone behind the camera to make her directing debut with Eternal Princess, a short doc about legendary Romanian Olympic gymnast Nadia Comaneci. "She achieved perfection at 14 and I've always been in awe and she's also been a huge hero of mine." Comaneci was just 14 years old when she became the first female gymnast to earn a score of a perfect 10 at the Olympics at the 1976 games in Montreal. "Nadia is such a...

John Partridge has become the third celebrity to exit BBC One's Tumble.
The gymnastics competition passed it's half-way mark as the remaining eight famous faces competed in either rhythmic gymnastics or trampolining.
The EastEnders star and The Only Way is Essex's Lucy Mecklenburgh took on The Vault, after landing in the bottom two on the judge's scoreboard with their respective scores of 26 and 28.
Head judge Nadia Comaneci chose to save Mecklenburgh, praising her "clean" performance.
Speaking to presenter Alex Jones, Partridge joked: "That's showbiz, baby!"
Actor Bobby Lockwood topped the scoreboard with a series high of 35 points. He was closely followed by Steps star H, who was awarded 34.
Next week's semi-final will see the remaining seven celebrities perform two disciplines, including the beam, without the help of their partners.
The Tumble semi-final airs next Saturday at 6pm on BBC One, when viewers will have the opportunity to vote for the first time.

Hard truth: Gymnasts are the most bad-ass athletes. They were no protective garments, they fling themselves around, and they usually incorporate personal style and generally wonderful fashions into their work. This morning a phenomenal video of Lloimincia Hall, an Lsu gymnast, is making the rounds, and it's another example of why gymnasts are some of the premiere bad-asses of our time. Let us learn five major lessons in badassitude from these kickass ladies. 1. Lloimincia Hall teaches us that stank is as powerful on the floor as stamina. This is a woman takes time out from her incredible flipping to let you know she can jive harder to Earth, Wind, and Fire than you can. She is right to do this. 2. Look, McKayla Maroney defies gravity just because. Look. McKayla jumps and elevates for what seems like minutes in the middle of her jump. Incredibly high, incredibly controlled. Color us "impressed,...

Georgia native Trisha Yearwood still loves the comfort food of her childhood, so don't expect her to dump the dumplings anytime soon. But fans can expect to see a new and sensible approach to food and diet as her Emmy-winning Saturday morning Food Network series, "Trisha's Southern Kitchen," enters its fourth season.
The Grammy-winning country music superstar and New York Times best-selling cookbook author recently lost a substantial amount of weight, and Yearwood is looking forward to sharing some tips about that with her viewers.
"There's an episode this season called 'Healthy Twist' where we take some of the classic comfort foods and show how to make them in a much healthier way in terms of sugar and calories and fat, without sacrificing flavor," Yearwood tells Zap2it. "Also, what I have done to lose weight and figure out how to enjoy Southern food and not weigh 500 pounds is just balance.

The champion swimmer's retirement so young might have surprised many. But she is not alone. Other athletes – and even a member of Wham! – happily did the same
It may be disappointing for the rest of us to see Rebecca Adlington retire, but we aren't the ones who have to get up at 5.15am each day to train. At 23, she simply feels too old to win the biggest races now, she says. "I hate the word 'retired'," she told her press conference. "I'm not retired. Even when I'm 90 years old, I'll still be getting in the pool and going for a swim." But loving what you do and loving winning are two different things. The second one has driven Adlington to become Britain's greatest ever swimmer. You could understand if the distant gleam of bronze is not, perhaps, enough to swap for another four years of her youth.
And she has plans.

HollywoodNews.com: The London Olympics are now just over a year away, and if gymnastics great Dominique Dawes has her way, the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team will win gold and “people will stop talking about the Magnificent Seven.”
That name, of course, was bestowed on Dawes and her teammates, the gold medal-winning team of the 1996 Summer Olympics. Now, she says, “These young athletes are quite talented and the tricks they’re doing are really impressive. I suppose that when I see them perform, I feel the same way Nadia Comaneci must have felt when she watched us.”
But, forget about the Magnificent Seven? “Oh, yes,” she affirms. “I believe it’s the mark of a good leader to want your successors to surpass you.”
The beautiful, well-spoken Dawes says she’d love to do on-air commentary for the London games. “The sport is my first passion,” she notes.
