Harrison Ford has opened up about an on-set conflict he had with Brad Pitt.
The two Hollywood powerhouses clashed on the set of 1997’s “The Devil’s Own” while developing the screenplay and exploring their respective character development.
Ford, 80, delved into the complicated situation in a new profile published by Esquire on Wednesday, where he described Pitt, 59, as a “really decent guy.”

“Brad developed the script. Then they offered me the part. I saved my comments about the character and the construction of the thing — I admired Brad. First of all, I admire Brad. I think he’s a wonderful actor. He’s a really decent guy,” recounted the “Star Wars” actor.

Harrison Ford has had feuds with several big-name actors throughout the course of his career, from Alec Baldwin over the Jack Ryan role to Josh Hartnett on the set of Hollywood Homicide. And you can add Brad Pitt to that list, who Harrison Ford butted heads with while making the 1997 thriller The Devil’s Own.
While Harrison Ford does praise Brad Pitt overall, he says in a new Esquire profile that their issues stemmed from exploring their characters and developing the screenplay. “Brad developed the script. In 1997, Alan J. Pakula's "The Devil's Own" came and went with minimal fanfare. Although coming from the director of "All the President's Men," and the recent John Grisham hit "The Pelican Brief," no one much paid attention. Even the presence of Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt couldn't pull in audiences or dazzle critics. "The Devil's Own" was a modest hit, earning 140 million worldwide, and earned tepid reviews from critics; it currently holds a 35 approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's one of those major studio releases that seems to exist only to provide the writers of movie-related Trivia Pursuit cards an opportunity to stump players. It awaits on basic cable, filling time between dinner and the late shows. It was Pakula's final film before his death, and cinematographer Gordon Willis' final film before his retirement.

Who doesn’t love a good sports movie? Or a life-affirming feel-good film? And what’s better than a feel-good sports drama? Nothing much really. But what if that film is based on a true story, making it even more uplifting? Good god, it’s enough to make a grown man cry.
American Underdog fulfils all those qualities and more, telling the inspirational true story of Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi) and the years of challenges and setbacks that could have derailed his aspirations to become an NFL player – but just when his dreams seemed all but out of reach, it is only with the support of his wife,...

Okay, so why is ComicMix reviewing a football movie? Well, first of all, we’re a little more than just comics and secondly, it stars Captain Marvel himself, so there’s that.
Besides, it’s about a real-life hero, and who doesn’t love heroes?
Kurt Warner’s story is well worth exploring and the Lionsgate Home Entertainment release of last year’s American Underdog does a fine job recounting the story. For those unfamiliar, Warner was a star at Northern Iowa but spent four years unable to get signed by an NFL team. Finally, the Green Bay Packers signed but released him in 1994. He then played three seasons for the Iowa Barnstormers in the brief-lived Arena Football League before finally making it to the NFL with the St. Louis Rams. Once there, he led what has been dubbed the Greatest Show on Turn, culminating in winning Super Bowl Xxxiv.

Arriving just in time to be an attractive four-quadrant option for family outings to the megaplexes during the holiday season — provided, of course, that the latest Covid surge doesn’t cause another round of movie theater shuttering — “American Underdog” is a thoroughly predictable yet hugely entertaining sports biopic that is bound to please almost anyone who’s not a sourball cynic or a snarky critic.
Much of its appeal stems from Zachary Levi’s winningly sincere portrayal of Kurt Warner, the football phenom whose improbable ascent from grocery clerk to NFL superstar by way of a warmup in the Arena League is the sort of true-life story that seems almost too good to be true, even when it’s told as well as it is here.
But while Levi undeniably is the most valuable player, he likely wouldn’t score quite so impressively without a strong supporting-player team that includes Anna Paquin as Brenda,...

So, you’ve survived the big holiday rush and are feeling a bit restless after the big meal. Perhaps you usually recoup by watching one of several football games on the tube that afternoon. But what if you’re not that invested in the match-ups and just want to get out of the house for a bit? Well, why not combine the two by taking in a new flick at the multiplex…one all about football. Oh, but it’s not a fictional tale of a group of “ragtag’ misfits pulling together for a beloved but often cranky coach. No, it’s all true, a sports biopic, but also a love story in the vein of the classic Pride Of The Yankees, minus the disease finale. And unlike that “chestnut,...

On Thursday at CinemaCon, Lionsgate said that it is opening the Erwin Brothers-directed American Underdog on Christmas Day. The pic was previously set to open on December 10, with the release timed to the climax of the NFL season.
“This movie perfectly aligns with the emotions of the holiday season: The power of faith. A drive to bring out the best in all of us. The strength of family. And of course, the height of the NFL championship season. When you take all of that together, the perfect release date for this movie is Christmas day, and that’s where we have decided to date it,” said Joe Drake, chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group.

New York -- Cartoon Network is taking a big step into live-action, prepping a slew of programs that represent the channel's largest slate in a long time.
The channel has more than a dozen projects in development including projects from writers David Titcher ("The Librarian"), Paul Dini ("Lost") and Mike Werb ("Face/Off," "The Mask"), among others. Chief content officer Rob Sorcher said that the network could possibly go to pilot with three of the projects this year, then launch a night of live-action programming sometime in 2010.
"That would absolutely be a win for us," Sorcher said Thursday.
The channel opened a Burbank-based scripted development series about a year ago. Last year, the network said it would pursue two avenues with live-action scripted series -- one in fantasy, action and adventure and the other in comedy.
"This is part of the overall expansion of programming at Cartoon Network," Sorcher said.
