There’s a new trailer for World on Fire, the Masterpiece war drama from The A Word’s Peter Bowker that bows Sunday, October 15, on PBS.
The series looks at World War II through the eyes of ordinary people from all sides of the conflict. The new seven-episode season will follow the first year of the war, starting with the German invasion of Poland in September 1939 and ending with the Battle of Britain.
The cast includes Lesley Manville (The Crown), Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid), Ahad Raza Mir (Resident Evil), Mark Bonnar (Guilt) and Gregg Sulkin (Runaways).
In 2019, PBS joined the BBC for a second season of the drama that starred Helen Hunt as a war correspondent. Season 2 has already dropped in the U.K, where viewers have noticed the absence of Hunt, as well as Sean Bean, Arthur Darvill and Brian J. Smith — due to a combination of scheduling...

Hit BBC drama “Happy Valley” will come to an end after its third season.
Sally Wainwright’s BAFTA-winning series — an early British drama success story that sold to broadcasters around the world and landed on Netflix in the U.S. and other key markets — will shoot season 3 in and around West Yorkshire in 2022, the BBC confirmed on Tuesday. While a third, six-episode round of the policing series has always been on the cards, Wainwright’s busy writing schedule has left a considerable gap since season 2 last aired on the BBC in 2016, and the creator was keen to get a next season of HBO-bbc drama “Gentleman Jack” out of the way before tackling season 3.
For its final season, production on “Happy Valley” is changing hands, with BBC Studios-backed Lookout Point taking over from Studiocanal’s Red, a longtime Wainwright collaborator until recent years. Lookout Point will co-produce with AMC Networks,...

Exclusive: Billions’ Damian Lewis and The Affair alum Dominic West are in negotiations to headline and executive produce a limited series adaptation of bestselling Cold War espionage thriller A Spy Among Friends for Spectrum Originals and UK streamer BritBox.
The six-episode A Spy Among Friends, based on Ben Macintyre’s book, comes from former Homeland executive producer Alexander Cary, Sony Pictures Television and ITV Studios. It is tentatively scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2021.
A Spy Among Friends follows the defection of notorious British intelligence officer and Kgb double agent, Kim Philby (West), through the lens of his complex relationship with MI6 colleague and close friend, Nicholas Elliott (Lewis). The show examines espionage through their friendship, the fallout of which affects East-West relations to this day.
Philby was a British spy who notoriously defected to the Soviet Union in the 1950s, betraying secrets to the Russians in the early years of the Cold War.

Lucan focuses on the life of Lord Lucan, aka Richard John Bingham, the 7th Earl of Lucan, a suspected murderer who disappeared without trace in 1974. These Doctor Who stories are flashing before my eyes at a fair old pace. It seems like only yesterday that I was reviewing 20th anniversary tale The Five Doctors. Now it's the turn of 25th anniversary story Silver Nemesis. Given the lightning speed passing of time, it'll probably seem like days before I'll be sitting before a 50th anniversary special. Given the Gold anniversary, it'll probably be set on the planet of Voga, as an army of Axons do battle with the natives and The Doctor – presumably to the strains of the dreary Spandau Ballet dirge, which always sounds to me like an elephant's got stuck halfway down a water slide at a swimming pool for yuppies.
Too bad then that Silver Nemesis doesn't quite live up to the high expectations of being the official 25th anniversary story. Don't get me wrong, it's reasonably entertaining fare, but there's a whole host of problems lurking around.

Everywhere we look, it seems like we're constantly told what films we should love. Visit a bookshop, and there will be at least half a dozen brick-sized tomes purporting to be the definitive guide of the Quintessential Films That You Should See In Your Next 50 Lifetimes. Not only that, but TV channels are also getting in on the act by listing the Top 100 Films Of All Time, during which the likes of Paul Ross or Nikki from Big Brother 7 chat inanely about the first time that they saw The Phantom Menace or some other movie “classic”.
Why bother with all that though? Both lists would take a good few hours to wade through, so instead, how's about tracking down a copy of season 24 closer, Dragonfire?
Yes, really. Dragonfire has so many visual and textual references to past classic films that you half expect Barry Norman to have penned the story.

The proverbial has hit the fan in a big way for the 6th Doctor. Despite his good intentions with the Vervoid evidence, he's now on a charge of mass genocide, after he reduced the walking plants to a pile of leaves on a sunny Autumn day.
Naturally, this is fantastic news for the Valeyard, whose mania has reached red-faced proportions. It's becoming fast obvious that The Valeyard is up to no good – the black-clad buffoon has just revealed his real dastardly self by starting to laugh evilly at regular intervals. Yes, how to give the game away in one fell swoop – start to go “Bwa ha haah!” – after all that hard work building up a credible case against The Doctor, The Valeyard's just committed professional suicide.
But at least the trial's starting to finally get somewhere. Better still, The Doctor's managed to nab some help from the most unlikely source.

More than halfway into The Trial Of A Time Lord, and The Doctor's not a happy camper. Not only is he being hectored by Judge Doom on a constant basis, he's also trying to come to terms with the loss of Peri, whose attempts to pre-empt the Mitchell Brothers from EastEnders were cruelly thwarted by an angry Yrcanos. No wonder he starts the ninth instalment with a face longer than Jimmy Hill's chin.
But that Dunkirk spirit slowly manifests itself as The Doctor now begins His defence. It's an odd choice – he evidently thinks that being an outer space Hercule Poirot will somehow absolve himself of all the charges laid against him. So welcome to the Murder On The Orient Express In Space portion of the trial, which is better known as Terror Of The Vervoids.
Now Doctor Who has attempted murder-mystery dramas in the past, with the likes...

It’s using some of the money released by cancelling the show for two new comedy drama series. Channel 4 paid £60-65 million in a three-year deal for the Big Brother rights. Big Brother was thought to be moving across to Five but I understand talks between producer Endemol and Five have now stalled. (Endemol declined comment.) Beaver Falls, a new 6-part show for digital channel E4, follows three British lads who con their way into an American summer camp for the ridiculously beautiful offspring of Manhattan’s rich and powerful. The camp thinks it’s getting three British blue-bloods. (Hang on, I can feel a Us remake coming on already...) The show is executive produced by Charlie Pattinson for Company Pictures (Skins, Shameless), produced by Liz Lewin and created by Iain Hollands. Naked Apes, which is being made for the main channel, is also a 6-parter about the lives,...

First rumoured a year ago, a film version of the British teenage drama series "Skins" is finally moving forward reports The BBC.
The E4 and Channel 4 series follows a group of teens in their final two years of pre-College schooling who are trying to grow up and find love and happiness despite questionable parenting and teachers who more want to be friends (and lovers) rather than authority figures.
The show, which frankly deals with teen sex and drug use, starred the likes of Dev Patel ("Slumdog Millionaire"), Nicholas Hoult ("About a Boy") and Jack O'Connell ("Eden Lake"). The show is notable for completely changing its entire cast every two seasons to follow a new batch of kids.
