“For Life” has been renewed for a second season at ABC, Variety has learned, while “The Baker and the Beauty” has been canceled after one season.
Inspired by the life of Isaac Wright Jr., “For Life” is a fictional serialized drama about an imprisoned man, Aaron Wallace (Nicholas Pinnock), who becomes a lawyer litigating cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit.
“It has been a profound honor working with Isaac Wright, Jr. and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson to create a show that, through the prism of Isaac’s experience in our broken criminal justice system, has been able to highlight the racial inequality that plagues this country,” said series creator Hank Steinberg. “The show’s renewal will allow us to continue to do that and I am extremely grateful to Sony Pictures Television and ABC for all of their support.

For those of you who were fans of Fox’s Marvel series The Gifted, I’ve got some bad news for you. The network has canceled the series, and it will not be back for a third season.
The family adventure series was set in the X-Men universe, and I actually liked the first two seasons. I thought the show was decent, but it’s not surprising that Fox would cancel it, especially after the Disney deal closed. After all, Marvel Studios is going to eventually completely reboot the X-Men franchise.
According to the report, though, “there is a chance for The Gifted to find a new home within the Disney family.” But there are no discussions happening, and I doubt that they will.

If Frank Castle’s first appearance in Season 2 of Daredevil and Season 1 of Marvel’s The Punisher taught us anything it is that no one leaves a trail of carnage behind like the ruthless vigilante played by Jon Bernthal.
Today, just over one week before the second season of one of the last two Marvel series on Netflix launches, the latest trailer shows the body count has risen and the villains are more crazed than ever.
“I dream about the Punisher every night,” says one of those villains, the returning Billy Russo Aka Jigsaw in the comics and portrayed by Ben Barnes in the new look at the new season. “He thinks he has the right to judge me,” adds Castle’s former friend and betrayer who was left for near dead with his face smashed in glass last season. “I want him to feel what I felt.”
Brothers no more.

I’ve got some great news for those of you who are still fans of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ABC has renewed the Marvel series for a seventh season!
Network executives must like the direction that the series is going in the upcoming Sixth season. It’s been about six month since Season 6 was announced.
Season 7 is a long way off so we can’t really speculate at this point where it might be headed. Hell, we don’t even really know what to expect from Season 6 yet! It’s not supposed to even air until summer of 2019. It will also only consist of 13 episodes. I imagine Season 7 will have the same amount of episodes.
I’m not a huge fan of this show but there are aspects of it that I enjoy and I’m curious to see how the story for these characters end up playing out.

After the events that unfolded in season one of the hit Netflix/Marvel series “Luke Cage” we were a bit unsure of just where season two would pick up for Harlem’s hero Luke Cage, as he was certainly dealing with his new found fame on the streets and wrestling with the idea of being a super hero overall.
Deep down Luke Cage truly wants to be a normal guy, however his bulletproof skin and extreme strength certainly forced him almost unwillingly into the spotlight. Deep down Luke Cage truly wants to be a normal guy, however his bulletproof skin and extreme strength certainly forced him almost unwillingly into the spotlight. Exclusive: Jim Chory, the long-time co-head of Marvel Television, has left the company.
We hear that he departed several weeks ago and that it was his decision to leave. Chory oversaw physical production for Marvel TV, which has expanded rapidly over the past five years, going from 0 to 10 live-action series currently on the air. With no new greenlighted Marvel shows or pilot currently in the pipeline, we hear Chory felt it was a good time to leave.
Along with Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb, who is shepherding creative, Chory is credited with building the company up into a prolific studio. Chory, a multi Emmy-nominated producer, served as executive producer on all of Marvel’s live-action series. That includes Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Inhumans and Agent Carter for ABC, as well as Marvel’s Daredevil,...

Forget Luke Cage, Mariah Dillard is Harlem’s new savior.
In the final trailer for the upcoming Season 2 of “Marvel’s Luke Cage,” the “Queen of Harlem” is facing off with the Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir), who will stop at nothing to take the borough from her. Seriously, the dude tries to set Alfre Woodard’s character on fire. But Mariah, who ascended to power in Harlem’s underworld after Cottonmouth’s death, insists you don’t need to be bulletproof to be a superhero.
“Black women have always had superpowers; turning pain into progress,” she says in the clip. “Harlem doesn’t need a hero, it needs a Queen.”

Season 2 finds Mariah faced with an imminent and formidable threat to her hold over Harlem – the unstoppable Bushmaster, who endangers everything she holds most dear. Meanwhile, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) wrestles with the idea of intervening and protecting Mariah for the good of Harlem.
In the clip we see new cast member Mustafa Shakir (The Deuce) as John McIver aka Bushmaster, going head-to-head with Mariah over the fate of Harlem.
The second season is executive produced by series showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker, Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb, who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television. Lucy Liu (Future World) directs the premiere episode of season two. Cast also includes Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Gabrielle Dennis and Rosario Dawson.

Grace Byers is staying in the Fox fold, with the now former “Empire” actress joining the Fox-Marvel series “The Gifted” for its upcoming second season.
Byers will play Reeva, described as a smart, charming, authoritative, elegant, beautiful woman who is ruthless in her efforts to fight for her people. She leads an elite band of followers and has a soft spot for her new recruits, but is still capable of extreme violence in defense of her vision.
“Empire” marked Byers first major onscreen role, playing Anika Calhoun. In 2016, She married her “Empire” co-star Trai Byers, who plays eldest Lyon son Andre. Byers recently departed the series after Anika died in the Season 4 finale. Byers also starred in the indie thriller “Bent” in 2017 and published a New York Times bestselling children’s book titled “I Am Enough” earlier this year.
She is repped by Gersh, Principal Entertainment, and attorney Erik Hyman.

Luke Cage won’t be the only one battling foes in Season 2.
In a new clip from “Marvel’s Luke Cage” Season 2, Misty Knight (Simone Missick) teams up with Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) to put a guy in his place. Yep — the “Iron Fist” character will be making a crossover appearance in the newest street hero season. Of course, we saw Wing in “The Defenders,” so it’ll be exciting to see her and Misty together again.
In the clip, Misty and Colleen are chatting at a bar when Bill Norris’ brother confronts Misty, calling her a “b—-,” and the detective is not having it. “That’s the second time someone has called me a b—- today,” she tells Colleen. The ladies then get down to business in a barroom brawl.

Freeform has released two new TV spots for Marvel's upcoming series Cloak & Dagger. The spots are called "Poison" and "Justice" and focus on the anger that has been building up in the two main characters through the loved ones they've lost. There's a good amount of new footage as the "Devine Pair" takes justice into their own hands as they face the corrupt Roxxon Corporation. From what I've seen, I like how these characters are being handled in the series.
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Updated with quote: ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is moving to summer. The 13-episode Season 6 will premiere in summer 2019, Channing Dungey, ABC President of Entertainment said today during the network’s upfront presentation. It was presumed the drama series’ sixth season would debut in midseason.
Dungey also made clear that the upcoming season is not envisioned as a series ender.
“I feel the season we just had was creatively the strongest yet,” she told attendees. We don’t plan it as a final season. The show has a loyal passionate base. It does incredibly well in delayed viewing.
By putting it on the summer we feel we can super-serve the show’s audience and possibly have it on the air longer,” she added.

It came down to the wire, but ABC has given a 13-episode Season 6 order to Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the only chance for a Marvel series on ABC next season, with freshman series Inhumans canceled following a disappointing fall run. Despite its low live ratings, S.H.I.E.L.D. is a strong DVR gainer and an even stronger international seller for ABC Studios, as well as a marketing platform for Marvel. Even with DVR lifts, Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Live+7 adults 18-49 average for this season is a so-so 1.2 rating.

ABC has canceled freshman dramas “Inhumans,” “Deception,” “The Crossing,” and “Kevin Probably Saves the World” after one season each.

Marvel’s Inhumans will not see a second season. ABC has canceled the action drama series.
The decision is not a surprise. The show premiered to modest ratings on ABC following its two-episode debut in Imax theaters two weeks before its linear premiere, and it never picked up steam. Box office receipts of $3.5 million disappointed all involved, and the show drew negative reviews from critics.
Marvel’s Inhumans explored the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family, including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans. After the family is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii, where they are greeted with surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them. Now they must find a way to reunite with each other and return to their home before their way of life is destroyed forever.

“Everybody talking about Luke Cage like he’s Jesus,” says the new trailer for the second season of the Netflix and Marvel series about Harlem’s resident hero. However, as you can see in the video above, talk means little compared to action in Marvel’s Luke Cage and there is a ton of that in the June 22 launching series.
Amidst explosions, some very 1970s style swagger, street fights, a powerful new arm for Misty Knight (Simone Missick), a well curated hip hop soundtrack, a lot of bullets hitting the bulletproof Cage, a glimpse of Gary C. Clark onstage plus some new and old enemies, Season 2 of the Mike Colter led series looks to have cranked it up from Season 1 – and that was pretty intense itself

I don't care what anyone says, Marvel's upcoming Cloak & Dagger series looks like it will be a great show! In another effort to help sell audiences on the show, Freeform has released a new trailer and it might just be the best one yet. It offers some fantastic new footage and we get to see two main characters see some action as they team up with each other to stop the evil heading that is terrorizing New Orleans. I like these two characters. They have a great dynamic and so far I like what I've seen on how they are being portrayed in this series.

As Luke casually tosses a 400-pound tire across the football field, Smith is impressed.

“That thing weighs 400 pounds. I’m sorry, 400! 400 pounds!” he exclaims to Hill. After Luke easily clears 24 feet in the long jump, Smith is again impressed. Hill is less so, and says, “Eh, that’s only 11 feet longer than the world record in long jump.” The superhero also ran a 3.72 in the 40-meter dash… making him faster than Usain Bolt.
“Human beings shouldn’t be able to do that,” Hill says.
Season 2 will find Luke struggling with a new level of fame and facing off against a new villain.

Season 2 featured all female directors, something Ritter told TheWrap is “something to celebrate.”
“Obviously created by a woman, stars women, this season it felt just so on-brand and exciting moment to celebrate these female filmmakers,” she said ahead of the Season 2 premiere. “They didn’t go into it with this intention it happened organically and that to me is really exciting.”
Krysten Ritter stars as the titular superhero, along with Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg executive produces, as does Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. “Jessica Jones” is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

Marvel has released the first full trailer for their upcoming new series Cloak & Dagger, which is set to air on the Freeform network. We've seen a few little promos for the show over the past few months, but this trailer gives us our best look yet at what's in store for us, and I really like what I'm seeing. This series actually looks like it has the potential to be great.
Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

Marvel has released another great new trailer for their upcoming Cloak & Dagger series. The new promo is called "Two Paths, One Destiny" and it follows the two main characters Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) and Tandy (Olivia Holt) and shows us the very different lifestyles that they are living before a twist of fate brings them together. It also shows them experimenting with their mysterious powers. The promo offers us some great insight into who these characters are.
This series looks like it actually might turn out to be great and I'm excited about checking it out this summer. Have the trailers released so far sold you on the series?

Netflix has released a trailer and a bunch of new images from ‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2. Although it seems that the marketing for this season seems to be keeping things close to the chest, this trailer and the new images seem to indicate more of the same from what many consider to the the best solo Marvel Netflix show. Kristyn Ritter‘s interpretation of the character was one of my favorite aspects of ‘The Defenders‘, so i’m glad that she’s back sooner rather than later.
In addition to Ritter, season 2 also features Rachael Taylor, David Tennant, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez. With a release date that is only a few weeks away on March 8th, 2018, ‘Jessica Jones’ returns to Netflix very, very soon. In the meantime, here’s the trailer, followed by the official synopsis and all of the new images below
