The film follows a unique engineer at a technology firm specializing in communicating with “whispers” of the recently deceased. Through his exploration of this unsettling piece of newly-developed technology, his research deepens and he finds himself on a dark path as he becomes increasingly unglued from reality.
Bloody also has the above first still to share from the film starring Geoffrey Cantor (Netflix’s Daredevil), Sean Mahon (BBC’s EastEnders), Ian Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun), Katie Kuang (HBO’S Westworld), Annie Young (The Conjuring 2), and Annemarie Lawless (The Mountain).
An expansion of Biesemans’ short film of the same name that played North Bend Film Festival, FilmQuest, H.P Lovecraft Ff, Under Worlds, and San Francisco Short Film Festival.

"I don't think you understand what happened here...?" Quiver Distribution has unveiled an official trailer for The Girl Who Got Away, a new serial killer horror-thriller from filmmaker Michael Morrissey (of Boy Wonder). Set in 2018, twenty years after a serial killer was caught and imprisoned, the story is about the "one who got away" now all grown up. When the killer escapes from prison, she goes after the final victim. Only one, Christina Bowden, managed to get away with her life, the other four were found buried... Caulfield escapes from prison and launches a deadly pursuit to finish what she began. Christina's seemingly perfect life comes crashing down around her as the secrets of her past come back to haunt her. The film stars Lexi Johnson, Chukwudi Iwuji, Kaye Tuckerman, Willow McCarthy, Ned Van Zandt, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Geoffrey Cantor. This does look extra creepy, much more horrifying than it seems at first.

There’s a charming weirdness at the core of An American Pickle, the latest Seth Rogen star vehicle. It’s a movie that sounds like it could be either amazing or terrible, depending on the execution. Luckily, Rogen and company give it a steady hand, as well as a singular identity, making the comedy a really enjoyable one. By leaning into the premise and its various possibilities, as opposed to getting bogged down in one specific aspect and solely going for laughs there, it’s a fuller meal, if you’ll pardon the expression. As the first HBO Max cinematic release, it’s a good get for the company. Out now, it’s quite entertaining. The film is a comedy, one with a high concept, to boot. 100 years ago, Hershel Greenbaum (Rogen) is a simple gravedigger, one whose dreams of luxury include getting to taste seltzer water. When he meets...

Daredevil star Peter Shinkoda says that former Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb made anti-Asian comments to the writers of the popular Netflix series behind the scenes. During a YouTube livestream for SaveDaredevilCon, which aims to add momentum to a potential Daredevil revival, the 49-year-old Canadian actor said Loeb made the writing team drop storylines for his character Nobu and fellow The Hand villain Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho) during the first two seasons of the show, because “nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people.”
“Jeph Loeb told the writer’s room not to write for Nobu and Gao, and this was reiterated many times by many of the writers and showrunners, that nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people… so don’t write about Nobu and Gao,” remarked Shinkoda (via Cbm), who was joined on the stream by Daredevil co-stars Geoffrey Cantor and Tommy Walker. “And they were...

Daredevil Actor Peter Shinkoda took a stand on Sunday during #SaveDaredevilCon as he claimed that former head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said anti-Asian comments during the production of the series.
Shinkoda plays Nobu Yoshioka who is part of the Hand in the series. During a panel with fellow actors Geoffrey Cantor and Tommy Walker, Shinkoda talked about how there was a story about Nobu in the works that dove deeper into his relationship with Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho) but it as scrapped. He was clearly reluctant to talk about it at first, but that reluctance was quick to go away because he felt that he had to say something.
“Jeph Loeb told the writers room not to write for Nobu and Gao…and this was reiterated many times by many of the writers and showrunners,” Shinkoda said. “He said, ‘Nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people. There were three previous Marvel movies,...

HBO Max has revealed the first trailer for “An American Pickle,” an upcoming comedy starring Seth Rogen set to premiere on the platform on Aug. 6.
Directed by his frequent collaborator Brandon Trost, Rogen plays Herschel Greenbaum, a Polish ditch digger who immigrates to the U.S. in 1920 to fulfill his American dream. Herschel finds work at a pickle factory, only to fall into a vat of brine, putting him into suspended animation.
A century later, Herschel emerges from the brine in 2020, fully preserved. Although all of his immediate family members have died, Herschel is able to locate his great-grandson, Ben — who is also played by Rogen.
The two struggle to relate to each other in terms of family values, music and culture, with Herschel even pointing to a poster of David Bowie on Ben’s wall and asking, “Is this your father?” Still, Ben helps Herschel adapt to the 21st century,...

"It's very pungent." HBO Max has unveiled the first official trailer for a wacky new high concept comedy titled An American Pickle, from filmmaker Brandon Trost and writer Simon Rich. Here's the concept: Seth Rogen stars as as "Herschel Greenbaum," a struggling laborer who immigrates to America in 1920 with dreams of building a better life for his beloved family. One day, while working at his factory job, he falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for 100 years. The brine preserves him perfectly and when he emerges in present day Brooklyn, he finds that he hasn’t aged a day. But when he seeks out his family, he is troubled to learn that his only surviving relative is his great grandson, "Ben Greenbaum" (also played by Rogen), a mild-mannered computer coder. You've got to see this! The cast includes Sarah Snook, Joanna Adler, Jorma Taccone, & Geoffrey Cantor. I love...

Everything that I’ve seen from Netflix’s new limited series Maniac has been fascinating. The story, ideas, and concept behind it are intriguing and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story plays out for the main characters who are played by Emma Stone and Jonah Hill.
Today we’ve got a new promo spot for you to watch along with new clip. The promo spot is an infomercial for a treatment facility called Neberdine Pharmaceutical Biotech and they are looking to cure depression in people. It includes Justin Theroux, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rome Kanda as the doctors who are running this place.
As for the clip, it focuses on two of these doctors discussing why Jonah Hill and Emma Stone’s characters are always finding their way back to each other after they keep trying to separate them.

Joined by his wife Jocelyn Towne, The Big Bang Theory‘s Simon Helberg turns director with autobiographical romantic comedy We’ll Never Have Paris. Helberg supposedly bases his film on a true story, making this charmless and aimless picture all the more tragic.
Neurotic thirty-something Quinn (Helberg) is planning on popping the question to his girlfriend of ten years Devon (Melanie Lynskey), until his colleague (Maggie Grace) confesses her love for him. This new found revelation results in the nervous Quinn botching his proposal and breaking-up with Devon. However, he realises he has made a huge mistake and attempts to win her back.

Uneven and not always animated enough to be involving, "Anima" is a stark, grim tale of a reclusive, marionette theater-producing elderly couple harassed by a rabid TV reporter on the hunt for a juicy story.
With a bucolic New England setting and unsettling focus on taxidermy, the at-first-promising 1997 indie digs its own grave with lackluster performances and a progressively inane plot.
The second feature from Rhode Island-based writer-director Craig Richards ("By a Thread"), "Anima" screened recently in the American Cinematheque's monthly Alternative Screen series.
Richards tries to spice up the storytelling with flashbacks and lyrical sequences, but more often the character development suffers. Bray Poor lacks charisma in the key role of cynical media hound Bill, and he plays the snaky opportunist with a lazy insolence.
More palatable as long as they move silently through their comfy hideaway in evocative scenes, George Bartenieff and Jacqueline Bertrand portray Sam the one-time legend of stuffed animals and his longtime companion Iris. Trying to make something of a routine assignment, Bill has to dig a little to find Sam and Iris, but he's not disappointed.
Alas, retired taxidermist Sam has a dark secret dating from his early years in Germany, but slippery Bill has trouble just getting him to talk about his deathly art for the TV project. Indeed, the whole news angle is tiresome, with Bill's annoying two-man crew (Geoffrey Cantor, Mark Mineart) providing feeble comic relief.
After trying to record Iris' accomplished cello playing, Bill is kicked off the farm by Sam, but there's still a mystery that no one wants solved. With no clear motivation, Bill pursues the story and intrudes on Sam after he's preserved dead Iris' body. More laughable than touching, this lurid climax leaves one cold.
