Tubi has been making strides with its original horror content lately, albeit small ones. For instance, director Ted Campbell’s first overtly horror offering, This Never Happened, shows how the popular streaming platform is progressing in the genre game while still having plenty of room to improve. These newer originals certainly look better than their predecessors; more effort in the visuals department makes a noticeable difference. Yet this tale of spectral vengeance can’t coast on its good looks alone. Beneath the attractive surface sits an uninspired story that won’t save this movie from ultimately becoming lost in Tubi’s growing catalog of made-in-house horrors.
Looking at both Campbell and co-writer Richard Pierce’s track record so far, the pair doesn’t have much experience in horror. Essentially all they did here was take the plot of one of their grounded thrillers and add a supernatural element. Two, in fact.

San Diego’s Comic-Con International is the biggest event in the world devoted to genre pop culture. While the big Hollywood movies get the most mainstream press, there’s also a large, lesser known and promoted Independent Film Festival devoted to genre short films tucked away within the overall convention.
The Cci-iff, as it’s acronymed, runs completely concurrently with the convention with programming running from morning to night that includes films devoted to comic book-inspired movies, horror movies, sci-fi flicks, comedies and documentaries. There are also several panels on filmmaking sandwiched in between the on-screen entertainment.
The fest also gives out awards. This year’s juror panel includes filmmakers Steven-Charles Jaffee and Kyle Newman, plus entertainment journalist Borys Kit.
Programming blocks are broken up by genre and the full film lineup below gives the exact starting time of each short film. There’s also one feature film screening this year,...

We already told you about the horror/suspense and sci-fi/fantasy films screening during this year's Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (Cci-iff), but a couple of zombedies slipped under the radar due to being included in the humor category. We have that info for you now.
All screenings and panels for the Cci-iff will be held in the Marriott Marquis and Marina, right next door to the Convention Center (next to the Hall A end). The Film Festival will screen in Marriott Hall 2, which is at the far (north) end of the Marriott lobby, outside of the building (follow the signage to get to Marriott Hall 2).

Rigamortis A Zombie Love Story Dave Dewes is the the co-director behind Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story, one of the year's most entertaining genre offerings. Rigamortis seamlessly managed to blend a story about love, zombies and musical dance numbers all into one cohesive film! I never thought in my lifetime I would see a musical zombie love story. Lisa Musser, who plays one half of the zombie couple, turned in a breakthrough performance. Boston Stergis channeled his inner Bruce Campbell with the film's elements of parody, but yet also brought a human side to a character who amounts to being the antagonist. And Maxwell Glick, did the appealing aww shucks thing well. Sure Rigamortis has creativity to spare, the premise alone is going to draw people in and the three leads are terrific, but in my opinion what makes Rigamortis so successful is that in the midst of it all,...

Boston Stergis Boston Stergis channeled the presence of legendary horror icon Bruce Campbell of The Evil Dead to turn in a memorable performance in the one of a kind "Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story". The film deals with the last two remaining zombies on Earth finding love with one another in the world amidst everyone wanting to kill them, including an ex-boyfriend (played by Boston Stergis) who has risen to fame for his zombie killing abilities. For Boston Stegis, Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story is the film that could help make his career as a film actor as his layered performance in the film showed that he could capture the parody elements of the film with ease, but yet switch it up to show the more human side of a character as he finds himself torn between the townsfolk who see him as a hero for helping to wipe out...

The last two remaining zombies on Earth fall in love with one another while trying to resist their urge for living human brains and having to escape a mob that wants to kill them.
Tremendously entertaining combination of yes; you read right, zombie film, love story and musical! Rigamortis: A Love Story cleverly takes the pains of being a zombie and relates them to universal themes involving the human condition in order to bring to life its two brain munching members of the undead. Rigamortis features situations that are both thoughtful & engaging and songs that resonate when token out of the zombie context. Maxwell Glick & Lisa Musser turn in bright, appealing performances as the zombies in love with one another with Boston Stergis managing to avoid turning his character into a one note...

Rigamortis: A Zombie
Love Story Ahhhh! Zombies!! (aka Wasting Away) started the theme that zombies are people. Now the horror / comedy / musical (?!?) "Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story" continues on with that theme as a pair of zombies look, not only, for their place in a big bad cruel world, but also for that funny little thing known as L-o-v-e all while belting out musical numbers!
From Ted Campbell & Daves Dewes comes a film in which, shortly after humanity has put down a recent zombie outbreak, the last two zombies left "undead" are looking for their place in the world. One lonely zombie hunter's new found fame and glory can't fill the hole in his heart left by the recent loss of his now undead love. The characters are forced to confront zombies, angry mobs, double-barreled shotguns, and an ever-dangerous thing called love, until fate brings them all face to face in an explosive finale.
