Rob Zombie's "The Munsters" hits home video and streaming today, and it's a loving ode to the widely beloved original 1960s series. Gone are the buckets of blood that accompany some of the director's other work, but his usual flair and attention to detail remain. It's a prequel to the campy classic we know and love, set before the titular Munsters were a happy monstrous family. Starring Zombie staples Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, and Daniel Roebuck as The Count/Grandpa Munster, it's a loving and colorful engagement with the classic franchise.
For fans of "The Munsters," there's a lot of fun to be had here, while Rob Zombie fans will find both differences from his extensive film canon with some stylistic commonalities that make it feel like a proper Zombie affair. I spoke with actor Daniel Roebuck about the film, the original series,...

Lost in Space will end for good this December.
Netflix on Thursday dropped a teaser and premiere date for the third season.
December 1, 2021 is when all the episodes will be available to stream.
"In the third and final season of Lost in Space, the stakes are higher than ever and the Robinson family's survival instincts will be put to the ultimate test," reads the official description.
"After a year of being trapped on a mysterious planet, Judy, Penny, Will and the Robot must lead the 97 young Colonists in a harrowing evacuation -- but not before secrets are unearthed that will change their lives forever."
"Meanwhile John and Maureen -- with Don at their side -- must battle overwhelming odds as they try to reunite with their kids."
News of the end of the show has been known for over a year, but it's nice that a Netflix show is getting an ending.

The Producers Guild of America Awards awarded Chloé Zhao’s “Nomadland” with their top prize, one of the key indicators for the Academy Awards, particularly the best picture category. Edging out its closest competitors including Emerald Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman,” Lee Isaac Chung’s “Minari” and Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” this might just end any questions about whether or not the moving drama is running away with the Oscars’ big prize.
All the acceptance speeches were pre-recorded with “Nomadland” giving a more produced, glitzier presentation than what we’ve seen at other award shows.
It should be noted that last year’s “1917” from Sam Mendes lost the Oscar after wins from PGA and DGA to “Parasite,” which only had the coveted SAG cast ensemble prize under its belt. Coincidentally, “Nomadland” is not nominated at SAG in their top category, leaving an opening for...

Star Trek‘s Captain Kirk wasn’t One with guests on “The Way to Eden” episode, and didn’t take part in the interstellar jam. Since then William Shatner has had a number of luminary musicians play on his tracks. The actor who debuted as a recording artist with the 1968 aural soundscape The Transformed Man is taking another sonic adventure. The rocktogenarian will drop two new albums this year, and both offer musical experiments. One of the two albums, which will be out by the end of the summer, will be a blues album. The other will be a new kind of record.

The UnXplained will premiere on History on July 11, confounding viewers with impossible tales improbably told. But the most inexplicable thing about the paranormal-and-beyond series is its host. William Shatner is not just an actor or a star, he is almost public domain. His breakthrough character, Captain James T. Kirk, was recognized and claimed by popular culture, the counterculture, and the subculture of Star Trek aficionados.
Shatner started his career as a workaholic actor who never said no. He took big and small parts on great TV shows and movies, and awful ones. He’d go on to continue his work in popular TV series with appearances in indie and B-movie films which have become cult classics. Who can forget his creepy crawl up the basement stairs in Kingdom of the Spiders or his pentagram brand and dis-gouged eyes in Devil’s Rain? In their own way, they are as influential...

Lost in Space has been renewed by Netflix for a third season, in which The Robinson Family’s epic space journey towards Alpha Centauri will conclude.
While the series is coming to a close, Netflix and Lost in Space Executive Producer/ showrunner Zack Estrin have agreed to enter a multi-year overall deal to produce new series exclusively at Netflix.
It also sounds like the decision to end the series was all Estrin.
Estrin says, “From the beginning, we've always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy."
"A three part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end. It's also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission -- it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith... and The Robot."
"And, of course, Debbie the Chicken.

A month ago when Fox Searchlight emails had dropped the Fox, there was a sense that the full integration of the former Rupert Murdoch-owned studio was in full effect at Disney. Well, it’s official today: in the wake of the 20th Century Fox film division updating their emails last night to @20thCenturyStudios, both labels are dropping Fox from their logos. Going forward, you’ll see the Searchlight Pictures logo on their specialty fare, and 20th Century Studios on the big, wide release titles.
Now, from what I understand, legally Disney can still use Fox if they want to in logos, however, the reason for dropping the big name is to avoid confusion with the consumer, especially as the Murdochs keep the Fox name in regards to their big broadcast network and cable and business news cable networks. The update of the Searchlight and 20th Century logos follows in...

“Live ‘Cops.’ ”
That was the shorthand pitch-in-the-hallway that intrigued A+E Networks executive Paul Buccieri enough to respond with an immediate yes.
At the time, Buccieri, 53, was about two years away from being promoted to the top job at A+E Networks, the cable programming group jointly owned by Disney and Hearst. He didn’t know then that “Live Pd” would be the show to turn around the fortunes of A&e Network, one of the three pillars of the company that’s also home to cablers History and Lifetime.
But Buccieri did know that there was a void in the marketplace for a high-octane law enforcement reality show. He’d overseen the production budget for “Cops” during his run as president of programming for Fox’s Twentieth Television. He saw potential to develop a next-generation iteration of the seminal reality franchise. Producer Dan Cesareo of Big Fish Entertainment pitched a bold...

Juul Labs, one of the leading vape brands, has suspended its broadcast, digital and print advertising in the U.S. as a new CEO takes over. The firm spent $104 million in the first half of 2019, according to Kantar Media, up enormously from 2018.
Last week, CBS, WarnerMedia and Viacom dropped e-cigarette advertising, citing rising health concerns and the growing number of teenage vapers. Cigarette ads are illegal on TV, but vaping ads were permitted.
Coinciding with the advertising decision was news that K.C. Crosthwaite will take over as Juul CEO, replacing Kevin Burns. Crosthwaite is a former chief growth officer for Altria (formerly Philip Morris), which owns a minority stake in Juul.
Juul has not said whether the advertising halt is temporary, or whether it will turn its efforts toward other forms of advertising and marketing, or continue to do so in other markets. It also said it would not...

William Shatner’s latest television enterprise is for History as the host and executive producer of the new Friday night series The UnXplained, which will seek out extra-terrestrial mysteries but won’t require a Galaxy-class starship to accomplish its small-screen mission.
This weekend the Emmy-winning actor and Star Trek icon will also be the top-billed special guest at AlienCon 2019 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The three-day event (presented by A&e Networks and Mischief Management) is both a pop culture expo and a summit for psuedo-science; the convention was inspired by the History hit franchise Ancient Aliens, a show that will be splitting the Friday night schedule with Shatner’s new on-screen life form.
