Film editor Sven Budelmann, A.C.E., was nominated for a Best Editing BAFTA award and an ACE award for Best Edited Feature Film/Dramatic for Netflix's 2022 adaptation All Quiet on the Western Front. Directed by Edward Berger for Amusement Park Films, the movie was also nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award, a BAFTA for Best Editing, won the BAFTA for Best Film, and won four Academy Awards including Best International Feature Film. Over his career he has cut over 500 commercials, 150 music videos, many feature films and TV series, and has numerous nominations and awards to his name.
He also cut the TV thriller series Last Light, directed by Dennie Gordon and starring Matthew Fox. Budelmann cut the 2020 series Shadowplay for directors Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein, and was editor on Netflix's Dark thriller series (2017-2020). He cut Edward Berger's award-winning 2015 German TV series Deutschland '83, and his other features include 2013's The Physician, starring Tom Payne and Sir Ben Kingsley, and 2008's North Face for director Philipp Stölzl.
Budelmann has also won awards for his editing on commercials for big-name brands. He received an LIA for the 2005 spot For Boys Who Were Always Men (Volkswagen) directed by Steve Miller, a Cannes Bronze Lion for Outtakes (Mc Donald's) directed by Andreas Hoffmann, and a Cannes Silver Lion for 2011's The Graduate (Audi) directed by Michael Bay. He garnered a Best Commercial VDW Award for 2008's Revolución (Renault Dacia) directed by Markus Walter, and was nominated for the German Film Award in Gold for editing Stereo for director Maximilian Erlenwein.
Sven is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, the European and German Film Academies, Bundesverband Film Editors, and Deutsche Werbefilm Akademie.
