Sean “Diddy” Combs posted a short apology video Sunday morning, two days after a harrowing hotel surveillance video showed him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. Looking directly at a camera, the mogul says he was at his “rock bottom” when he attacked Ventura in the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles in 2016. In the surveillance video, obtained by CNN, Combs is seen throwing, kicking, stomping and dragging Ventura.

Sean “Puffy” Combs won’t be prosecuted for beating up Casandra Ventura despite hotel surveillance footage showing the 2016 assault, says the Los Angeles District Attorney.

In November, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed a federal lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs in New York federal court. Her lawsuit includes graphic claims of sexual assault, physical abuse, and an allegation that Combs, her ex-boyfriend, would force her to have sex with male sex workers while he watched. Ventura’s claims are among the worst, but not the first controversy that the music mogul and entrepreneur has been alleged to be involved in.

In the wake of three lawsuits alleging sexual assault, Sean “Diddy” Combs has temporarily stepped aside as chairman of Revolt, the music-oriented television network he co-founded in 2013. Representatives for Combs confirmed the news to Variety.
A statement posted to Revolt’s Instagram page reads, in part: “Sean Combs has stepped down from his position as chairman of Revolt. While Mr. Combs has previously had no operational or day-to-day role in the business, this decision helps to ensure that Revolt remains steadfastly focused on our mission to create meaningful content for the culture and amplify the voices of all Black people throughout this country and the African diaspora.”

R&b singer Cassie, the longtime romantic partner of Sean “Diddy” Combs, has filed a lawsuit against him in Manhattan’s Federal District Court.
The complaint alleges that the rapper, producer and music mogul who founded Bad Boy Records, raped and subjected Cassie to years of aggressive behavior and physical abuse.
Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura included Bad Boy Entertainment, Bad Boy Records, Epic Records, Combs Enterprises, and Combs Enterprises LLC as defendants in her lawsuit, and alleges that whenever she tried to hide, Combs’s network of corporations and affiliated entities would locate her.
Ventura asserts that Combs pressured her to consume illegal drugs and forced her to carry firearms in her purse on his behalf. Additionally, she alleges that when the two were on a break for a period, Combs arranged for the destruction of fellow musician Kid Cudi‘s car, whom Ventura was in a relationship with at the time.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sued by his former girlfriend and label signee, the singer Cassie, for rape and years of repeated physical abuse.
The New York Times reports that Cassie, born Casandra Ventura, filed the suit in Federal District Court in Manhattan Thursday (November 16th). Ventura met Combs — fka Puff Daddy — in 2005 when she was 19, and signed with the record producer’s label, Bad Boy.
Bad Boy released Ventura’s debut album the following year. The suit claims that Combs then roped her into what would become a years-long cycle of controlling and abusive behavior, which included beating her, forcing her to take “copious amounts of drugs,” and filming her having sex with a cast of multiple male prostitutes — which he referred to as “freak-offs.” Because these staged acts of voyeurism occurred in multiple cities, the suit classifies it as sex trafficking.

Harvey Weinstein has been hit with a civil complaint from a woman who alleges she was sexually assaulted by the indie movie mogul when she was 16.
Kaja Sokola claims that Weinstein, the former head of Miramax and the Weinstein Company, met her at an event put on by her modeling agency in 2002 when she was still a minor. He arranged to have lunch with her to talk about her career, but after picking her up, he allegedly took her to his Soho apartment instead of to a restaurant. Exclusive: Despite being on the job for barely over a week, Harvey Weinstein’s newest and latest defense lawyers won’t be asking a New York state judge for another delay in the start of the Oscar winning producer’s rape trial.
Led by recently hired Chicago attorneys Damon Cheronis and Donna Rotunno, the once again revamped team will be officially confirmed as Weinstein’s reps at a July 11 hearing in front of New York Supreme Court Justice James Burke. However, as part of that process, the Windy City lawyers had to assure Burke that they would not seek more time to prepare for the currently scheduled September 9 rape trial, I’ve learned.
An insider close to the Weinstein team confirmed the agreement between the lawyers and the judge. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr’s office had no comment on the stability of the trial date when contacted by Deadline.

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has officially axed Ben Brafman as his lawyer ahead of his sexual assault trial, and assembled a new defense team headed by high-powered attorney Jose Baez. Baez is best known for his work on several high-profile murder cases, representing Casey Anthony, who was acquitted of killing her two-year-old daughter in 2011, and former NFL star Aaron Hernandez, who was found not guilty of a double homicide in 2017.
More recently, however, Baez represented actress Rose McGowan in a drug possession case resolved last year with a no contest plea.

A sexual assault case against Harvey Weinstein will proceed to trial after a New York judge denied a motion to dismiss the charges brought by the indie film mogul’s lawyers.
Justice James Burke found that prosecutors did not mislead the grand jury. Weinstein’s lead attorney, Ben Brafman, claimed that the D.A.’s office and the police withheld evidence showing that Weinstein and his accusers were engaged in consensual relationships. Burke rejected that argument.
“The Court finds that there is no basis for the defendant’s claim of prosecutorial or law enforcement misconduct in the proceedings, or pervasive falsity in and around the Grand Jury presentation,” Burke wrote. “The Court finds that the charges presented in the Grand Jury were supported by competent evidence and the proceedings were properly conducted. The motion to dismiss on these grounds is denied.”
In a statement, Brafman said he looked forward to defending the case at trial.

A week before a hearing that could decide the fate of the Manhattan District Attorney’s rape case against Harvey Weinstein, the primary lawyer for the much-accused producer today attacked the alleged victims and prosecutors.
“Contrary to what Mr. Wilson would have us believe, the issue before this Court is one of law and not political correctness,” Ben Brafman told New York Supreme Court Justice James Burke in a letter (read it here) filed Tuesday morning. The letter was in response to correspondence by Assistant D.A. Kevin Wilson on Friday. Back then, Deadline noted that the white gloves had come off in the lead-up to the December 20 hearing in NYC. Today it seems the pummeling has intensified.
“We also note with great respect that, as a result of our extensive investigation, we now have access to the personal email exchanges between Mr. Weinstein and many of the most vocal...

Harvey Weinstein may be sending self-pitying emails to his few remaining pals complaining about having “one Hell of a year,” but his lawyers and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office aren’t exactly shy about taking bloody swipes at each other in correspondence today either.
Just under two weeks before a pivotal hearing in New York Supreme Court that could determine the direction of the rape case against the much accused and disgraced producer, both sides let loose Friday with letters to Justice James Burke in the matter of the People v. Harvey Weinstein. Correspondence that saw the D.A.’s office damningly accuse Weinstein and his lawyer of having a “misguided and antiquated view of how a rape victim should react after having been assaulted.”

As Harvey Weinstein’s legal woes continue, the Manhattan district attorney’s office decided to not charge the disgraced producer with the financial crimes associated with the sexual assault settlements.

“The fact that the District Attorney’s Office has officially closed their investigation does not surprise me in the least,” Brafman said in a statement provided to Deadline. “I have been explaining to them for almost a year that this inquiry was a mindless voyage as Mr. Weinstein never defrauded any company or person and always paid his own bills, or after the fact, by agreement, reimbursed the company for any personal expense. Harvey Weinstein has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor in an amended class action complaint filed Wednesday in New York.
The fallen movie mogul vehemently denied the accusation, brought forth by an anonymous woman who said she was repeatedly attacked from 2002 to 2011, beginning when she was 16 and an aspiring model trying to make it in New York.
The accusations fall largely in line with dozens of others made against Weinstein, including intimidation, unwanted touching and pressure to perform sexual favors in exchange for business opportunities in Hollywood.
After the initial encounter, the woman named as Jane Doe in the complaint continued to have dealings with Weinstein, including trying out for “America’s Top Model.” She alleges that she didn’t receive any work from Weinstein or his company because she rebuffed his advances.
